ashok ka abhilekh

shahabajagadhi ke apane abhilekh mean maury samrat ashok ne samaj aur jiv-hiansa ka nishedh kiya hai. kiantu yah nishedh pratyaksh roop se n karake usane apani pakashala mean ki jane vali jivahiansa ke nishedh ke roop mean vyakt kiya hai.

  • devananpriy ka shabdarth 'devata ka pyara' hai. yah eesa-poorv ke kal mean maharajaoan ki adarasoochak upadhi thi aisa pratit hota hai. ashok ke pautr 'dasharath' aur sianhal naresh tiss ke lie bhi isaka prayog hua hai. sambhavat: usaka tatpary 'maharaj' ya 'maharajadhiraj' tha.
  • athavean shilalekh ke shahabajagadhi, kalasi aur manasehara ke path se 'devananpriy' aur giranar path mean 'rajano' saman bhav se prayukt hua hai jo is dharan ki pushti karata hai.
  • jis bhav se kushan-shasak devaputr kahe gaye haian athava gupt-shasakoan ne apane sikkoan par sucharitai: divan jayati (apane sucharitr se dev-vas, sthan jitane) ki ghoshana ki hai, vahi bhav yahaan bhi parilakshit hota hai.

2. prashand vayeyu [.] save hi te samaye bhav-shudhi ch ianchhati sarvatr sab pashand (panthavale) vas karean. kyoanki ve sabhi [pashand ya panth] sanyam aur bhavashuddhi chahate haian.
3. jano chu uchavuch-chhando uchavuch-rago [.] te savran ekadesh v [aantar is karan hota hai ki] jan (manushy) ooanch-nich vichar ke aur ooanch-nich rag ke [hote haian] .[isase] ve poori tarah [apane karttavy ka palan] kareange athava [usake] ek desh (aansh) ka palan kareange.
4. pi kashanti [.] vipule pi chu dane gras nasti samay bhav- jisaka dan vipul hai, [kiantu jisamean] sanyam
5. shudhi kitranat dridh-bhatati niche padhan[.] bhavashuddhi, kritajnata aur dridhabhakti nahian hai, [aisa manushy] atyant nich hai.

1. adhavashabhiansitas devan prias priadrashis rano kalig vijit [.] diadhamatre pranashatamahastre ye tato apavudhe shatasahastramatre tatr hate bahutavatake v mute[.] ath varshoan se abhishikt devoan ke priyadarshi raja se kaliang vijit hua. dedh lakh prani yahaan se bahar le jaye gaye (kaid kar liye gaye), sau hazar (ek lakh) vahaan ahat (ghayal) hue; [aur] usase [bhi] bahut adhik sankhya mean mare.
2. tato pach adhun ladheshu kaligeshu tivre dhrmashilanan dhramakamat dhramanushasti ch devanan priyasar [.] so asti anusochan devanan priyas vijiniti kaligani [.] atpashchath ab kaliang ke upalabdh hone par devoan ke priy ka dharmavay (dharmapalan), dharmakamata (dharm ki ichchha) aur dharmanushasan tivr hue. so kaliang ke vijeta devoan ke priy ko anushay (anushochan; pachhatava) hai.

6. shatabhage v sahastrabhagan v aj gurumatan vo devanan priyas [.] yo pi ch apakareyati chhamitaviyamate ve devanan priyas yan shakoan chhamanaye [.] y pi ch atavi devanan priyas vijite bhoti t pi anuneti apunijhapeti [.] anutape pi ch prabhave sauvaan bhag va hajaravaan bhag bhi [yadi ahat hota, mara jata ya nikala jata to] aj devoan ke priy se bhari (khedajanak) mana jata. jo bhi apakar karata hai, [vah bhi] devoan ke priy dvara kshantavy mana gaya hai yadi [vah] kshama kiya ja sake. jo bhi ataviyoan (vany pradeshoan) [ke nivasi] devoan ke priy ke vijit (rajy) mean hai, unhean bhi [vah] shaant karata hai aur dhyanadikshit karata hai. anutap (pachhatava) hone par bhi devoan ke priy ka prabhav unhean kaha [bataya] jata hai, jisamean [ve apane dushkarmoan par] lajjit ho aur n mare jayan.
7. devanan priyas vuchati tesh kiti avatrapeyu n ch hanneyasu [.] ichhati hi devanan priyoan avrabhutan achhati sanyaman samachariyan rabhasiye [.] eshe ch mukhamute vijaye devan priyas yo dhramavijayoan [.] so chan pun ladho devanan priyas ih ch aanteshu devoan ka priy bhootoan (praniyoan) ki akshati, sanyam samacharya aur modavritti (mod) ki ichchha karata hai. jo dharmavijay hai, vahian devoan ke priy dvara mukhy vijay mani gayi hai. pun: devoan ke priy ki vah [dharmavijay] yaha [apane rajy mean] aur sab aantoan (simaantasthit rajyoan) mean upalabdh huee hai.
