lakshmi (angrezi: Lakshmi) hindoo dharm ki ek pramukh devi hain. lakshmi, bhagavan vishnu ki patni aur dhan, sampada, shanti aur samriddhi ki devi mani jati hain. dipavali ke tyohar men unaki ganesh sahit pooja ki jati hai. devi ki jitani bhi shaktiyan mani gayi hain, un sab ki mool bhagavati lakshmi hi hain. ye hi sarvotkrisht parashakti hain. lakshmi ji ki abhivyakti do roopon men dekhi jati hai-

ye do hokar bhi ek hain aur ek hokar bhi do hain. donon hi roopon men ye bhagavan vishnu ki patni hain. inaki thodi-si kripa prapt karake vyakti vaibhavavan ho jata hai. bhagavati lakshmi kamalavan men nivas karati hain, kamal par baithati hain aur hath men kamal hi dharan karati hain. samast sampattiyon ki adhishthatri shridevi shuddh sattvamayi hain. vikar aur doshon ka vahan pravesh bhi nahin hai. bhagavan jab-jab avatar lete hain, tab-tab bhagavati mahalakshmi bhi avatirn hokar unaki pratyek lila men sahayog deti hain. inhen dhan ki devi mana jata hai aur nity lakshmi ji ka bhajan poojan aur lakshmi ji ki arati karate hain. inake avirbhav (prakat hone) ki katha is prakar hai-

maharshi bhrigu ki patni khyati ke garbh se ek trilok sundari kanya utpann huee. vah samast shubh lakshanon se sushobhit thi. isaliye usaka nam lakshmi rakha gaya. dhire-dhire badi hone par lakshmi ne bhagavan narayan ke gun-prabhav ka varnan suna. isase unaka hriday bhagavan men anurakt ho gaya. ve bhagavan narayan ko patiroop men prapt karane ke liye samudr tat par ghor tapasya karane lagin. unhen tapasya karate-karate ek hazar varsh bit gaye. unaki pariksha lene ke liye devaraj indr bhagavan vishnu ka roop dharan karake lakshmi devi ke pas aye aur unase var mangane ke liye kaha- lakshmi ji ne unase vishvaroop ka darshan karane ke liye kaha. indr vahan se lajjit hokar laut gaye. ant men bhagavati lakshmi ko kritarth karane ke liye svayn bhagavan vishnu padhare. bhagavan ne devi se var mangane ke liye kaha. unaki prarthana par bhagavan ne unhen vishvaroop ka darshan karaya. tadanantar lakshmi ji ki ichchhanusar bhagavan vishnu ne unhen patni roop men svikar kiya.

lakshmi ji ke prakat hone ka doosari katha is prakar hai- ek bar maharshi durvasa ghoomate-ghoomate ek manohar van men gaye. vahan ek vidyadhari sundari ne unhen divy pushpon ki ek mala bhent ki. mala lekar unmatt veshadhari muni ne use apane mastak par dal liya aur pun: prithvi par bhraman karane lage. isi samay durvasa ji ko devaraj indr dikhayi diye. ve airavat par chadhakar a rahe the. unake sath any devata bhi the. maharshi durvasa ne vah mala indr ko de di. devaraj indr ne use lekar airavat ke mastak par dal diya. airavat ne mala ki tivr gandh se akarshit hokar use soond se utar liya aur apane pairon tale raund dala. mala ki durdasha dekhakar maharshi durvasa krodh se jal uthe aur unhonne indr ko shri bhrasht hone ka shap de diya. us shap ke prabhav se indr shri bhrasht ho gaye aur sampoorn devalok par asuron ka shasan ho gaya. samast devata asuron se sntrast hokar idhar-udhar bhatakane lage. brahma ji ki salah se sabhi devata bhagavan vishnu ki sharan men gaye. bhagavan vishnu ne un logon ko asuron ke sath milakar kshirasagar ko mathane ki salah di. bhagavan ki agya pakar devaganon ne daityon se sandhi karake amrit-prapti ke liye samudr mnthan ka kary arambh kiya. mandarachal ki mathani aur vasuki nag ki rassi bani. bhagavan vishnu svayn kachchhaparoop dharan karake mandarachal ke adhar bane. is prakar manthan karane par kshirasagar se kramash: kalakoot vish, kamadhenu, uchchaishrava namak ashv, airavat hathi, kaustubhamani, kalpavriksh, apsaraen, lakshmi, varuni, chandrama, shnkh, shanrg dhanush, dhanvntari aur amrit prakat hue. kshirasamudr se jab bhagavati lakshmi devi prakat hueen, tab ve khile hue shvet kamal ke asan par virajaman thin. unake shri angon se divy kanti nikal rahi thi. unake hath men kamal tha. lakshmi ji ka darshan karake devata aur maharshi gan prasann ho gaye. unhonne vaidik shrisookt ka path karake lakshmi devi ka stavan kiya. sabake dekhate-dekhate ve bhagavan vishnu ke pas chali gayin.

lakshmi ki bahin daridra

man lakshmi ke parivar men unaki ek badi bahan bhi hai jisaka nam hai- daridra. is snbndh men ek pauranik katha hai ki in donon bahanon ke pas rahane ka koee nishchit sthan nahin tha isaliye ek bar man lakshmi aur unaki badi bahan daridra shri vishnu ke pas gee aur unase boli, jagat ke palanahar kripaya hamen rahane ka sthan do? pipal ko vishnu bhagavan se varadan prapt tha ki jo vyakti shanivar ko pipal ki pooja karega, usake ghar ka aishvary kabhi nasht nahin hoga atah shri vishnu ne kaha, ap donon pipal ke vriksh par vas karo. is tarah ve donon bahanen pipal ke vriksh men rahane lagi. jab vishnu bhagavan ne man lakshmi se vivah karana chaha to lakshmi mata ne inkar kar diya kyonki unaki badi bahan daridra ka vivah nahin hua tha. unake vivah ke uparant hi vah shri vishnu se vivah kar sakati thi. at: unhonne daridra se poochha, vo kaisa var pana chahati hain. to vah boli ki, vah aisa pati chahati hain jo kabhi pooja-path n kare v use aise sthan par rakhe jahan koee bhi pooja-path n karata ho. shri vishnu ne unake lie rishi namak var chuna aur donon vivah sootr men bndh ge.
ab daridra ki shartanusar un donon ko aise sthan par vas karana tha jahan koee bhi dharm kary n hota ho. rishi usake lie usaka man bhavan sthan dhoondhane nikal pade lekin unhen kahin par bhi aisa sthan n mila. daridra unake intajar men vilap karane lagi. shri vishnu ne pun: lakshmi ke samane vivah ka prastav rakha to lakshmi ji boli, jab tak meri bahan ki grihasthi nahin basati main vivah nahin karoongi. dharati par aisa koee sthan nahin hai. jahan koee dharm kary n hota ho. unhonne apane nivas sthan pipal ko ravivar ke lie daridra v usake pati ko de diya. at: har ravivar pipal ke niche devataon ka vas n hokar daridra ka vas hota hai. at: is din pipal ki pooja varjit mani jati hai. pipal ko vishnu bhagavan se varadan prapt hai ki jo vyakti shanivar ko pipal ki pooja karega, us par lakshmi ki apar kripa rahegi aur usake ghar ka aishvary kabhi nasht nahin hoga. isi lok vishvas ke adhar par log pipal ke vriksh ko katane se aj bhi darate hain, lekin yah bhi bataya gaya hai ki yadi pipal ke vriksh ko katana bahut zaroori ho to use ravivar ko hi kata ja sakata hai.

  • ek bar lakshmi ne gauon ke samooh men pravesh kiya. gauon ne us roopavati ka parichay poochha. lakshmi ne bataya ki usaka sahavas sabake lie sukhakar hai tatha vah lakshmi hai aur usake sath rahana chahati hai. gauon ne pahale to lakshmi ko grahan karana svikar nahin kiya, kyonki vah svabhav se hi chnchala mani jati hai, phir lakshmi ke bahut anunay-vinay par unhonne use apane gobar tatha mootr men rahane ki agya pradan ki.[1]
  • srishti ke adi men radha aur krishn the. radha ke vamang se lakshmi prakat huee. krishn ne bhi do roop dharan kiye- ek dvibhuj aur ek chaturbhuj. dvibhuj krishn radha ke sath golok men tatha chaturbhuj vishnu mahalakshmi ke sath baikunth chale gaye. ek bar durvasa ke shap se indr shri bhrasht ho gaye. mrityulok men devagan ekatr hue. lakshmi ne rusht hokar svarg tyag diya tatha vah baikunth men lin ho gayin. devatagan baikunth pahunche to puran purush ki agya se lakshmi sagar-putri hokar vahan chali gayin. devataon ne samudr mnthan men pun: lakshmi ko prapt kiya. lakshmi ne sagar se nikalate hi kshirasagarashayi vishnu ko varamala dekar prasann kiya.[2]
  • bhrigu ke dvara khyati ne dhata aur vidhata namak do devataon ko tatha lakshmi ko janm diya. lakshmi kalantar men vishnu ki patni huee. lakshmi nity, sarvavyapak hai. purushavachi bhagavan hari hai aur strivachi lakshmi, inase itar aur koee nahin hai. ek bar shiv ke anshavatar durvasa ko yachana karane par ek vidyadhari se sntanak pushpon ki ek divy mala upalabdh huee. airavat hathi par jate hue indr ko unhonne vah mala de di. taduparant indr ne apane hathi ko pahana di. hathi ne prithvi par dal di. is bat se rusht hokar durvasa ne indr ko shrihin hone ka shap diya. samast devata tatha jagat ke tattv shrihin ho gaye tatha danavon se parast ho gaye. ve sab brahma ki sharan men gaye. unhonne vishnu ke pas bheja. vishnu ne danavon ke sahayog se samudr mnthan ka snpadan kiya. samudr mnthan men se lakshmi (shri) pun: prakat huee tatha vishnu ke vaksh par sthit ho gayi. indr ki pooja se prasann hokar unhonne var diya ki vah kabhi prithvi ka tyag nahin karengi. jab bhi vishnu avatarit hote hain, 'shri' sita, rukmini adi ke roop men prakat hoti hain.[3]
