अन्य विवरण वाराणसी दक्षिण-पूर्वी उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य, उत्तरी-मध्य भारत में गंगा नदी के बाएँ तट पर स्थित है और हिन्दुओं के सात पवित्र शहरों में से एक है। वाराणसी का पुराना नाम काशी है। वाराणसी विश्व का प्राचीनतम बसा हुआ शहर है। यह गंगा नदी के किनारे बसा है और हज़ारों साल से उत्तर भारत का धार्मिक एवं सांस्कृतिक केन्द्र रहा है।
