adhyatm ka arth hai- "apane bhitar ke chetan tatv ko janana, manana aur darshan karana" arthath apane ap ke bare mean janana ya atmaprajn hona. 'gita' ke athavean adhyay mean apane svaroop arthath jivatma ko adhyatm kaha gaya hai-

"paraman svabhavoadhyatmamuchyate."

atma paramatma ka aansh hai, yah to sarvividit hai. jab is sambandh mean shanka ya sanshay, avishvas ki sthiti adhik kriyaman hoti hai, tabhi hamari doori badhati jati hai aur ham vibhinn roopoan se apane ko saphal banane ka nirarthak prayas karate rahate haian, jisaka parinam nakaratmak hi hota hai. ye to asanbhav sa jan p data hai ki mitti ke bartan mitti se alag pahachan banane ki koshish karean to koee kya kahe ? yah vishay vicharaniy hai.[1]

adhyatm ki anubhooti sabhi praniyoan mean saman roop se nirantar hoti rahati hai. svayan ki khoj to sabhi kar rahe haian, paroksh v aparoksh roop se. paramatma ke asim prem ki ek booand manav mean payi jati hai, jisake karan ham unase sanyukt hote haian; kintu kuchh samay bad isaka lop ho jata hai aur ham nirash ho jate haian. saansarik bandhanoan mean anand dhooandhate hi rah jate haian, parantu kshanik hi khushi pate haian. jab ham kshanik sanbandhoan, kshanik vastuoan ko apana jan kar usase anand manate haian, jab ki har pal sath rahane vala sharir bhi hamean apana hi gulam bana deta hai. hamari indriyaan apane ap se alag kar deti haian. yah itani sookshmata se karati haian ki hamean mahasoos bhi nahian hota ki hamane yah kam kiya hai?

yanyanvapi smaranbhavan tyajatyante kalevaramh.
tan tamevaiti kauntey sada tadbhav bhavitah.

arthat- "he kuantiputr arjun ! yah manushy antakal mean jis-jis bhi bhav ko smaran karata hua sharir ka tyag karata hai, us-us ko hi prapt hota hai; kyoanki vah sada usi bhav se bhavit rahata hai."

  • atma ya vyakti se sanbandh rakhane vala,-tvamh (avy.) atma se sanbaddh-tmamh parabrahm (vyakti ke roop mean prakat) ya atma aur paramatma ka sanbandh.


sam.-jnanamh,-vidya atma ya paramatma sanbandhi jnan arthath brahm evan atm-vishayak janakari (upanishadoan dvara batae ge siddhaant)-rati (visheshan) jo paramatmachintan mean sukh ka anubhav kare.[2]
