atithiygy ka arth hai ki, atithi ka prem aur adar se satkar karana, use bhojan karana aur seva karana. atithiygy ko 'nriygy' ya 'manushyaygy' bhi kahate hain. atithi ko pahale bhojan karane ke pashchath hi grihasth ko svayn bhojan karana chahie. mahabharat[1] men kaha gaya hai ki, jis grihasth ke ghar se atithi bhookha-pyasa aur nirash hokar vapas laut jata hai, usaki grihasthi nasht-bhrasht ho jati hai.

atithi ka man-samman karana

bharatiy snskriti men atithi ko vaishvanar, vishnu evn narayan kaha gaya hai. usaka prem sahit satkar karana, bhojan karana aur man-samman karana hi 'atithiygy' kahalata hai. mahabharat ke vanaparv men atithiygy men ygy karta ke lie 5 prakar ki dakshina bataee gee hai-atithyakarta ko apani ankh, hriday, mithi boli, vyaktigat dhyan evn anugaman (jate samay thodi door tak jana) adi se atithi ko samman dena chahie. atithi satkar ke niyam nimnalikhit hain-

  • age badhakar atithi ka svagat karana
  • hath, pair tatha munh adi dhone ke lie jal dena
  • atithi ko asan dena v dipak jalakar rakh dena
  • bhojan karana aur thaharane ka sthan dena
  • vyaktigat dhyan dena aur sone ke lie bichhavan dena
  • atithi ke jate samay thodi door tak usake sath men jana.

yah bhi kaha gaya hai ki, yadi atithi ghar se nirash hokar laut jata hai to, vah apane sare pap grihasth ko de jata hai aur grihasth ke sabhi puny atithi ke sath hi chale jate hain. is prakar atithi ke nirash hokar laut jane se grihasth ka samast kutumb nasht ho jata hai.

kisi bhi ygy ke uparant sabase pahale atithiyon ko sasamman bhojan karana chahiye. usake bad shreshth brahmanon ko bhojan karana chahiye. yah dhyan rakhana chahie ki niyamit bhojan karane vale bhi bhookhe n rahen. abhav ki sthiti men mithi baton se hi atithi ko sntusht karana chahiye. use asan par bithakar sasamman jal hi pilaya ja sakata hai. is prakar kiya gaya satkar atithiygy kahalata hai. dopahar men ae atithi se sooryast ke samay ae atithi ka adhik mahatv hota hai. aise atithi ko bina bhojan karaye nahin jane dena chahie. aise atithi ke avagun tatha krodh adi jaise svabhav ko nahin dekhana chahie. atithi atithi ke prati poojy bhavana ki satta vaidik aryon men atynt prachin kal se hai. rigved men anek mntron men agni se atithi ko upama di gee hai. (8.74.3-4). atithi vaishvanar ka roop mana jata tha (kath. 1.1.7) isilie jal ke dvara usaki shanti karane ka adesh diya gaya hai. atithirnamasy (atithi poojy hai)- bharatiy dharm ka adharapith hai jisaka pallavan smriti grnthon men bade vistar se kiya gaya hai. unamen atithi ke lie asan, arth tatha madhupark ka vidhan hua hai. mahabharat ka kathan hai ki jis par se atithi bhagnamanorath hokar lautata hai use vah apana pap dekar tatha usaka puny lekar chala jata hai. atithisatkar ko pnchamahaygyon men sthan diya gaya hai.

  • agni aur dasharathi ram ke pautr arthath‌ kush ke putr ka nam bhi atithi tha. kushaputr atithi ke vishay men kaha jata hai ki usane das hajar varshon tak rajy kiya. inake atirikt shiv ko bhi ukt sngya prapt hai.[2]
