shrichaitany mahaprabhu ne ek bar sanatan gosvami ki asadharan shakti ka moolyaankan karate hue kaha tha- "tumhare bhitar mujh tak ko samajhane aur path pradarshan karane ki shakti hai. kitani bar tumane isaka parichay bhi diya hai."[1] is shakti ke karan hi unhoanne unake sharir ko apane uddeshy ki siddhi ka pradhan sadhan mana tha- tomar sharir mor pradhan sadhan."[2] aur kaha tha- tumhare sharir se maian apane bahut se prayojanoan ko siddh karooanga. krishna-prem-tattv aur vaishnavoan ke krity ka nirdharan, apane priy sthan mathura-vrindavan mean krishna-bhakti aur krishna-prem-seva ka pravartan, lupt tirthoan ko uddhar aur vairagy ka shikshan, yah sab kary maian tumhare sharir ke madhyam se karooanga.[3]

prayojan ki siddhi

sanatan gosvami ke sharir se mahaprabhu ke prayojan ki siddhi ab ho chuki thi. unaka sharir bahut vriddh ho gaya tha. unhoanne jivan ke bache hue kuchh din ekant bhajan mean vyatit karane ka nishchay kiya. ve manasaganga ke tir par chakreshvar mahadev ke mandir ke nikat ek vriksh ke niche bhajan karane lage. unaki vritti antarmukhi ho gayi. ahar-nidra tak ki chinta n kar ve har samay radha-krishna ke chintan aur harinamamrit ke asvadan mean doobe rahate. us samay ki unaki avastha ka varnan shriradhavallabhadas ne ek pad mean is prakar kiya hai-

"kutire rahile, mo sabhar sukh habe. aichhe rah, n hile vrajavasi du:kh pabe॥[5]

-tum aise rahate ho vrikshatale, yah thik nahian. kutiya mean raha karoan, jisase ham sabako sukh mile. aise rahoge to ham vrajavasiyoan ko b da du:kh hoga."

sanatan gosvami dvara likhit granthoan mean char aise haian, jinaka unake dvara pranit hone ke sambandh mean kisi prakar ka vivad ya sanshay nahian hai, kyoanki unaka unake nam se ullekh kiya gaya hai jiv gosvami ki laghutoshani ke upasanhar mean, shrikrishna das kaviraj ke chaitany –charitamrit[8] mean aur narahari chakravarti ke bhaktiratnakar[9] mean. ve haian-

(1) haribhaktivilas ki digdarshani tika,

(2) 'vrihath vaishnavatoshani' namaki shrimadbhagavat ke dasham skandh ki tika

(3) lila-stav aur

(4) 'vrihatbhagavataanmrit' aur usaki tika.

haribhaktivilas ki digadarshini tika

haribhaktivilas mahamoolyavanh vaishnav-smriti hai, jisamean vaishnavochit achar ka pramany shastr-vakyoan dvara paripusht vistrit varnan hai. isake rachayita shri gopal bhatt gosvami haian. yah granth ke prarambhik shlok se spasht hai, jo is prakar hai-

bhaktorvilasaanshchinute prabodhanandasyashishyo bhagavatapriyasy.

gopalabhatto raghunathadasan santoshayanh roop-sanatanau ch॥

vrihadh-vaishnavatoshani

vrihath-bhagavatamrit jaisa sanatan gosvami ke shastr jnan ka parichayak hai, vaisa hi unaki adhyatmik anubhootiyoan ka. isamean unhoanne bhakti-shastr ke vishal sagar ka manthan kar sar tattv ko b de saral aur akarshak dhang se upasthit kiya hai. yah unaki kramik adhyatmik upalabdhiyoan aur uchchastariy rasanubhootiyoan ka manoram upakhyan ke dvara hridayasparshi varnan hai. yah do khandoan mean likha gaya hai. pratham khand mean yah dikhane ki cheshta ki gayi hai ki bhagavanh ka sabase adhik kripapatr kaun hai. doosare mean bhakti ke vibhinn sopanoan ka varnan hai. pratham khand ke nayak haian narad. ve bhagavan ke sabase adhik kripapatr bhakt ki khoj mean brahmand mean bhraman karate haian. sarvapratham prayag tirth ke ek brahman ko bhagavan ka sabase adhik kripapatr jan usaki prashansa karate haian. brahman dakshinaty ke ek kshatriy raja ko bhagavanh ka paramapriy bhakt nirdharit karata hai. narad us raja ke pas jate haian, to vah brahma ko bhagavanh ka paramapriy bhakt batate haian. isi prakar brahma shiv ko, shiv prahlad ko, prahlad pandavoan ko, pandav yadavoan ko, vishesh roop se uddhav ko, uddhav vraj ki gopiyoan ko aur unamean bhi radha ko bhagavanh ka sabase adhik kripapatr batate haian. pratyek apane mat ki pushti mean jo karan upasthit karata hai, usase bhaktoan ki vibhinn shreniyoan ki visheshatayean prakash mean ati haian. doosare khand ke nayak haian govardhanavasi ek gopakumar, jinake guru haian gau dadesh mean gangatat par janme jayant nam ke ek brahman. jayant ke svaroop aur bhav ka jaisa varnan hai, usake adhar par kuchh logoan ka nishchit mat hai ki jayant nam se sanatan gosvami ne shrichaitany mahaprabhu ko iangit kiya hai aur gopakumar nam se svayan apane ap ko.[18]

vrihadbhavatamrit ka mahattv bangal ke shriatulkrishna gosvami ne in shabdoan mean vyakt kiya hai:

"vaishnavadharm ka marm janane ke lie sadhan-bhajan ke sugam sopan ka abalamn karane ke lie, vividh lokoan aur vividh avataroan ka tattv janane ke lie, aur shriradhakrishna ke padapadm ki prapti karane ke lie yadi koee choti ka granth hai to vrihadbhagavatamrit hai....................... saral kahani ke madhyam se sabhi siddhantoan ki abhijnata utpann karane vala, ek shabd mean, ati sahaj roop se jisase manav-janm saphal ho sake aisa upay batanevala aur koee granth nahian hai."

granth mean kuchh jatil aur durbodh vishayoan ko saral karane ke lie sanatan gosvami ne svayan hi 'digdarshini' nam ki isaki vistrit tika likhakar isaki upadeyata aur badha di hai.[19]

bhagavatta ka sar madhury

vrihadbhagavatamrit ka mool uddeshy hai 'do goodhatam rahasyoan ka udghatan karana. ek to yah ki bhagavanh ka jnan nahian hai. ve jaise apani bhagavatta ko bilakul bhoole hue haian. unhean abhiman hai apane gopavesh-morapichchh-bansidhari-lila-kautuk-priy, nilakanti, yukt navakishor, natavar gopal hone ka. ve madhur se bhi madhur haian. unaka roop-rang bolana-chalana, uthana-baithana, chalana-phirana, nachana-gana, khelakood aur has-parihas sabhi kuchh ati madhur hai. madhury hi unaki bhagavatta ka sar hai. jis bhagavath svaroop mean madhury ka jitana vikas hai, usamean utana hi aishvary ka prakash kam hai. unake is poornatam roop mean madhury ka poornatam vikas hai. isaliye is roop mean yadyapi unake aishvary ka bhi poornatam vikas hai, aishvary madhury se poornat: achchhadit hai. usaka unhean kianchit bhi jnan nahian. ve sadharan gop balakoan ke sath unhian ki tarah khelate haian, unhean apane kandhe chadhate haian, unake kandhe chadhate haian, unaka jootha khate haian, unhean apana jootha khilate haian. sadharan balakoan ki tarah hi nandababa ki paduka apane sir par uthakar le jate haian, maan yashoda dvara ta dit hone par bhay khate haian, ro dete haian. yah sab unaka natak bilakul nahian hota. natak hota, yadi unhean apani bhagavatta ka jnan rahata. yadi natak hota to unhean vah rasanubhooti bhi n hoti, jisaka in madhur lilaoan ke madhyam se asvadanakar ve shrutike "raso vai s:" vaky ko sarthak karate hue apane akhilarasamrit-moorti roop ka parichay dete haian.?

bhagavan ka bhaktavatsaly

doosara rahasy, jisaka sanatan gosvami ne udghatan kiya hai, yah hai ki bhagavanh sab prakar se poorn, atmaram, aanptakam hote hue bhi apane bhaktoan ka prem ras asvadan karane ke lie sada utkanthit haian, lalayit haian. unhean apane svaroopanand se bhi bhaktoan ki seva se utpann anand ka lobh adhik hai. atmanand se premanand kotiguna adhik asvady haian. prem ka svabhav haian atripti. prem jitana adhik hota hai, utana hi usaki kami ka anubhav hota hai, utana hi usaki bhookh aur adhik hoti hai. bhagavanh ka prem anant haian. isalie unaki prem ki bhookh bhi anant hai. anant koti bhaktoan ke prem ka asvadan karake bhi ve atript haian. isalie anantakoti jiv, jo unase vimukh haian, unake unmukh hone par unake prem ka sukh asvadan karane ki asha se unaka hriday sada udvelit hai. jiv unaka bhajan nahian karate, to bhi ve unaka bhajan karate haian, unhean kisi prakar apani or unmukh karane ke lie yatnashil rahate haian.[20] vrihadbhagavatamrit mean vaikunthadhipati shrinarayan ki gopakumar ke prati ukti se is rahasy ka udghatan bhali prakar hota hai. gopakumar ke vaikunth mean pravesh karane par unhoanne bhavagadgadh kanth se unase kaha-

"vats! svagat hai! svagat hai! maian chirakal se tumhare darshan ke lie utkanthit tha. b de saubhagy ki bat hai jo aj tumhare darshan hue. tumane bahut janm vyatit kiye, par kianchinmatr bhi meri or unmukh n hue. tumhari upeksha dekh maian bahut du:khi hua. isalie apane hi banaye maryada-marg ka langhan kar tumhean govardhan mean janm diya or svayan jayant nam ke tumhare guru roop mean avatirnahua. tab yah asha bandhi ki is bar avashy tum meri or agrasar hoge. is asha ko hriday mean dharanakar maian anavarat anand se nrity karata raha hooan. tumane meri asha saphal ki. ab sthir roop se yahaan rahakar mujhe sukhi karo aur tum bhi sukhi ho."[21]

yah haian vaikunthadhishvar shrinarayan ke gopakumar ke prati premodgar. par narayan mean aishvary ki pradhanata hai. unaka madhury aishvary se achchhadit hai. ayodhyapati ram, dvarakadhish, shrikrishna aur vrindavan bihari shrikrishna mean kramash: madhury ka adhik vikas haian madhury ka sar hai prem. isalie unamean prem aur bhakt-vatsalata ka bhi kramash: adhik vikas hai. vrindavan bihari, morapichchh-vanshidhari shrikrishna mean madhury ki parakashtha haian. isalie unamean bhaktavatsalata ki bhi parakashtha haian.

jab ve ayodhya pahuanche aur shri ram chandr ke darshan kiye to unhoanne svayan unase gaurav-buddhi tyag dene ko kaha aur bole- he suhrittamh! tum mere prati sneh se prerit ho yahaan chale aye ho. kuchh der vishram karo, pranamadi karane ka kasht n karo. tumhara kasht dekhakar mujhe bhi kasht hota hai, kyoanki tum mere chirabandhu ho. maian tumhare prem ke sada adhin hooan. gopakumar unake vachanoan se paramasantusht hue. par ve poorvabhyas aur dashakshar mantr-jap ke prabhav ke karan ramachandr mean madanagopal ke roopagunadi ka arop karate aur tadanuroop unake aliangan-chumbanadi sahit premapoorn vyavahar ki asha karate. unhean jab unaki is prakar ki lila-madhury aur kripa ka anubhav n hota, tab ve shokatur ho p date. yah dekh ramachandr ne dvarakapuri ko unake bhav ke adhik upayukt jan unhean vahaan bhej diya.

"ek din narad muni ne unaki avastha janakar upadesh kiya-tumhari poorn tripti golok mean hi sambhav hai. tum braj bhoomi mean jakar smaran-kirtanadi sadhan dvara golok prapti ka udyog karo. vahian tumhara sadhan sucharoo roop se sampann ho sakega, kyoanki vah prithvi par sthit hote hue bhi vaikunth ke oopar sthit golok se abhinn hai. dvarakanath tumhari avastha se avagat hai. ve svayan tumhean vahaan pahuancha deange."

gopakumar ko jab chetana aee to unhoanne dekha ki nandanandan ke sath ve bhoomi par p de haian. nandanandan prem ke avesh mean unhean apane bahupash mean kase hue moorchchhit avastha ko prapt ho gaye hai. unake donoan netroan se pravahit ashrudhara ke veg se rajomay path pankil ho gaya haian. gopiyaan unhean dekhakar lajjahin ho rodan karati huee kah rahi haian-"hay! hamare prananath ko yah kya hua? kya yah vyakti kans ka koee mayavi anuchar hai, jisake ate hi unaki aisi dasha ho gayi?" krishna ke sathi gopagan bhi uchch svar se rodan kar rahe haian. us krandanadhvani ko door se sun nandadi gopagan aur putravatsala yashoda adi vriddha gopiyaan bhi vahaan a gaye haian aur krishna ko moorchchhit dekh ha-ha kha rahe hai. pashugan kataratasoochak shabd karate-karate unake nikat akar unake shriaang ko sooangh-sooanghakar use chat rahe haian. pakshi unake oopar akash mean mandarate hue shok-soochak kolahal kar rahe haian.

tab jhoomate-jhoomate unake sath pur mean pravesh kiya. godohan ke pashchath ant:pur mean unhean le ja kar mata yashoda ki bandana karavaee. yashoda maan ne unake prati krishna ka atishay prem dekh unaka bhi apane putr ke saman lalan-palan kiya. snanadi kar krishna ne nandababa aur balaram ke sath bhojan grih mean pravesh kiya. shrinand kanakasan par virajaman hue. shrikrishna unake baee or baithe, balaram daee or. gopakumar ko shrikrishna ne agrahapoorvak samane baithaya. yashoda maan ne pariveshan prarambh kiya. usi samay brajasundariyaan apane-apane ghar se nana prakar ki bhojy samagri lekar ayian. shrikrishna ne prashansa sahit unhean aroga aur apane hath se gopakumar ko khilaya. jab shri radha dvara laye gaye laddoo unake samane rakhe gaye, to unaka ek kan jihva se sparsh karate hi unhoanne radha ki or dekhate hue aisa muanh banaya jaise vah nim ki tarah k dava ho aur yah kahate hue ki 'he radhe! yah laddoo tumhare vansh mean jat is vyakti ke hi yogy haian' gopakumar ko unhean de diya. is parihas ke chhal se unhoanne gopakumar ko vah vastu pradan ki jisase adhik aur kuchh dene ko unake pas n tha. golok mean gopakumar ko abhisht phal ki poorn roop se prapti huee. ve nity vahaan rahakar yugal ki nity nayi roop-madhuri, nity nayi lila-madhuri aur unaki prem-seva ke anirvachaniy ras ka asvadan karane lage.

sadhy bhagavanh nahian, bhagavatprem hai

vrihadbhagavatamrit ki akhyayika ke bich mean gopakumar ko samay-samay par diye gaye naradadi ke upadeshoan ke madhyam se sanatan gosvami ne sadhy-sadhan tattv ka bhi niroopan kiya hai. sadhy mukti nahian, bhagavanh bhi nahian, bhagavatprem hai. prem prapt ho jane par bhagavanh svayan bhakt se vashibhoot ho jate haian aur dharm, arth, kam aur moksh mean usaka tuchchh bhav ho jata hai.[22] mukti-sukh bhakti-sukh ka virodhi haian, kyoanki mukti-sukh simit aur triptijanak hai. bhaktisukh asim hai, sada vardhanashil haian, kyoki bhagavanh ka svaroop sada ek hote hue bhi nity navin hai ve nity nayi roop-madhuri aur nayi-nayi lilao ko prakat kar bhaktoan ko sukhi karate haian. yahi bhaktoan ke prati unaki karuna ki parakashtha hai.[23] mukti ki avastha mean atmaram muniyoan ko keval ek hi sukh ka anubhav hota hai. man ki vritti ke abhav ke karan usaka vistar sambhav nahian hota. vah utkantha-rahit aur shoony –sa pratit hota haian. bhaktoan mean vahi sukh man ki vritti ke karan kee guna adhik ho jata hai, usi prakar jis prakar akash sthit soory ka prakash sphatik mani par p dane se kee guna adhik ho jata hai.[24] mukti bhakti ka gaun phal hai, par atmaramata bhakti ka gaun phal bhi nahian hai. atmaramata prem ki virodhi hai, kyoanki isase utkantha ka nash hota hai. prem ka svaroop hi hai sada atript rahana arthath atmaramata ka n honaan atmaramata ka n hona bhakti ka dooshan nahian, bhooshan hai.[25] narad muni ne bhagavanh se var maanga ki bhakti ya prem mean kisi ko kabhi tripti n ho, to bhagavanh ne uttar diya-"yah to meri bhakti ka svabhav hi hai. apane kya mere kisi bhakt ko kabhi tript dekha hai?"[26]

prem-prapti ka sadhan

prem-prapti ka mukhy karan shrikrishna ki kripa haian. kisi-kisi par yah kripa akasmath ho jati hai; koee ise sadhan dvara kram se labh karate haian, jaise koee udar data kisi ki bana hua bhojan danan kar deta hai, kisi ko sidha de deta hai, jisase use bhojan svayan taiyar karana p data hai.[27]

prem-prapti ke sadhak ko pahale use bhay ko door kar dena chahie, jo use shrikrishna ko eeshvar janane ke karan lagata hai. use shrikrishna mean bandhu-bhav rakhana chahie. unase das, sakha, mata-pita ya kanta ka laukik nata jo dakar us bhav ke vraj gop-gopi ke anugaty mean bhajan karana chahiean bhajan navadha-bhakti ke anuroop hona chahie. usamean shrikrishna ki vraj-lilaoan ka dhyan-gan aur usamean bhi prabhuka nam- sankirtan mukhy hona chahie. yah sadhan shrikrishna ki priy kri dabhoomi vraj mean rahakar karana chahie, kyoanki vahaan rahakar karane se nishchit roop se prem ki prapti shighr ho jati haian.[28]

kirtan-bhakti smaran-bhakti se shreshth hai, kyoki smaran-bhakti ekamatr chanchal man mean hi prakashit hoti hai aur kirtan-bhakti jihva, kan tatha man mean prakashit hoti haian aur as-pas rahane vale doosare jivoan ko bhi prabhavit karati hai.[29]

shrikrishna ki prem roop sampatti prapt karane ke lie nam-sankirtan hi balavan tatha shreshth sadhan hai, kyoanki yah akarshan-mantri ki tarah shrikrishna ko sadhak ke pas khianch lane ki samarthy rakhata hai.[30] par yadi dhyan ke prabhav se samast indriyoan ki vrittiyaan antarmukh hokar man ki vritti mean prakashit ho jayean, arthath dhyan avastha mean shravan-kirtan-darshan adi man mean bahar ki tarah prakash pane lagean, to is prakash ka dhyan bahy kirtanadi ki apeksha shreshth hai.[31]

vaise kirtan aur dhyan ko ek-doosare se bilkul prathak nahian samajhana chahie, kyoanki kirtan se dhyan ka sukh badhata hai, dhyan se kirtan ka.[32]

sath hi yah bhi dhyan rakhana chahie ki sadharan roop se kirtan ko sab sadhanoan se shreshth mana gaya haian, to bhi jisaki jis sadhan mean samyak priti ho, jisase use poornaroop se sukh prapt hota ho, usake lie vahi sadhan sarvashreshth haian. use usi ka anushthan karana chahie, kyoanki usake lie vah sadhan phalaroopi hi hai.[33]

isaka yah arth nahian ki nishkam bhakti ke anushthanoan ke atirikt karm, jnanadi aur kisi sadhan se prem ki prapti ho sakati hai. karm, jnanadi sadhanoan ki prapti aur nishkam bhakti ki prapti mean bahut antar hai. sakam punyakarm karane vale grihasthiyoan ko bhoo: bhuv: sv: in tinoan lokoan ki prapti hoti hai. nishkam-karm karane vale grihasthi, naishthik brahmachari, vanaprasth tatha sannyasiyoan ko, inase oopar mah: jan: tapan, satyan in char lokoan ki prapti hoti hai. bhog samapt hone par yah sab phir bhoomandal par akar janm grahan karate haian. jo maharlokadikoan ko prapt hote haian, unamean se koee-koee brahma ji ke sath mukt ho jate haian. jo bhagavanh ke sakam bhakt haian ve apani ichchha se sab sukh bhagoan ko bhogate hue, vishuddh hokar bhagavaddham ko prapt hote haian. par jo bhagavanh ke nishkam bhakt haian, ve tatkshan us vaikunth ko prapt hote haian, jo sachchidanand-svaroop haian, aur mukt purushoan ko bhi durlabh hai.[34]

nishkam bhakti karm-jnanadi ke sansparsh se mukt honi chahie, kyoanki karm se bhakti mean vikshep hota haian, vairagy se usaka ras sookh jata hai aur jnan se vah nasht ho jata hai. in tinoan se door ho jana hi bhakti ki pratham kaksha hai.[35]
