avadhoot sadhuon ka ek bhed. u. khevara, sevara, paradhi, sivasadhak, avadhoot. asan mare baith sab panch atma bhoot-jayasi. arnbh men avadhootopanishadh men is shabd ki jo vyakhya di gee hai, usase is pad se snketit vyakti ke vaishishty ka vivaran ho jata hai. is upanishadh ke anusar is shabd men ae a ka aksharatv athava aksharapad, v ka arth vareny ka sarvashreshth pad, dhoo ka arth dhoot snsaravardhan athava sansarik vasanaon ka uchchhed aur t ka arth hai tatvamasyadilakshyatv. is pad se vishisht vyakti ka vyakhyan is upanishadh ke atirikt avadhootagita, gorakshanatharachit siddh-siddhant-paddhati, goraksh-siddhant-sngrah adi grnthon men upalabdh hai.

'mahanirvanatntr' men pradhanat: char prakar ke avadhoot kahe ge hai:

  1. 'brahmavadhoot' jo kisi bhi varn ka brahmepasak ho aur kisi bhi ashram men ho;
  2. 'shaivavadhoot' jo vidhipoorvak snnyas le chuka ho:
  3. 'biravadhoot' jisake sir ke bal dirgh tatha bikhare hon, gale men had ya rudraksh ki mala padi ho, kati men kaupin ho, sharir par bhasm ya raktachndan ho, hath men kashthadnd, parashu evn damaroo ho aur sath men mrigacharm ho;
  4. 'kulavadhoot' jo kulachar men abhishik hokar bhi grihasthashram men rahe.

(lalana pgya svabhaven rasanopayasnsthita. avadhooti madhyadeshe tu grahyagrahakavarjata.-advayavajrasngah) yah dharmamudra tatha mahamudra ki abhedata ka hetu hai. yah mahasukhashrayasahajannadapradayika hai aur advayasvabhava hai. bodhichith‌ ke madhyavargiya avadhootika men oordhvasnchar se bhinn-bhinn prakar ke anndon ka asvad bataya jata hai.[2]
