syadavad ya 'anekantavad' ya 'saptabhngi ka siddhant' jain dharm men many siddhanton men se ek hai. 'syadavad' ka arth 'sapekshatavad' hota hai. yah jain darshan ke antargat kisi vastu ke gun ko samajhane, samajhane aur abhivyakt karane ka sapekshik siddhant hai. 'sapekshata' arthat 'kisi apeksha se'. apeksha ke vicharon se koee bhi chij sath‌ bhi ho sakati hai aur asath‌ bhi. isi ko 'sattabhngi nay' se samajhaya jata hai. isi ka nam 'syadavad' hai.

darshan

jain dharm ke matanusar kisi bhi vastu ke anant gun hote hain. keval mukt ya phir kaivaly gyan prapt sadhak ko hi anant gunon ka gyan ho sakata hai. sadharan manushyon ka gyan anshik aur sapeksh hota hai. vastu ka yah anshik gyan hi jain darshan men 'nay' kahalata hai. 'nay' kisi bhi vastu ko samajhane ke vibhinn drishtikon hai. ye 'nay' saty ke anshik roop kahe jate hain. anshik aur sapeksh gyan se sapeksh saty ki prapti hi snbhav hai, nirapeksh saty ki prapti nahin. sapeksh saty ki prapti ke karan hi kisi bhi vastu ke snbndh men sadharan vyakti ka nirnay sabhi drishtiyon se saty nahin ho sakata. logon ke bich matabhed rahane ka karan yah hai ki vah apane vicharon ko nitant saty manane lagate hain aur doosare ke vicharon ki upeksha karate hain. vicharon ko tarkik roop se abhivyakt karane aur gyan ki sapekshata ka mahatv darshane ke lie hi jain darshan ne 'syadavad' ya 'sattabhngi nay' ka siddhant pratipadit kiya.

udaharan

'syadavad' ka arth 'sapekshatavad' hota hai. koee bhi vyakti kisi bhi padarth ya brahmand ka gyan darshanik buddhi ki kotiyon se prapt nahin kar sakata. isase sirph anshik saty hi hath lagata hai. isake lie jain dharm ek udaharan deta hai-

'ek andhe ne hathi ke pair chhookar kaha ki hathi khambhe ke saman hai. doosare ne kan chhookar kaha ki hathi soopade ke saman hai. tisare ne soond chhookar kaha ki hathi ek vishal ajagar ke saman hai. chauthe ne poonchh chhookar kaha ki hathi rassi ke saman hai.'

darshanik ya tarkik vivad bhi kuchh isi tarah chalate rahate hain, kintu sabhi ankh vale janate hain ki samagr hathi inamen se kisi ke bhi saman nahin hai. mahavir svami ne svayn 'bhagavatiyasootr' men atma ki satta ke vishay men 'syad asti', 'syad nasti' aur 'syad avaktavyam' in tin bhngon ka ullekh kiya hai.[1]

jain dharm ke anusar bhinn-bhinn drishtikonon se dekhe jane ke karan pratyek gyan bhi bhinn-bhinn ho sakata hai. gyan ki yah vibhinnata sat prakar ki ho sakati hai-

  1. hai
  2. nahin hai
  3. hai aur nahin hai
  4. kaha nahin ja sakata
  5. hai kintu kaha nahin ja sakata
  6. nahin hai aur kaha nahin ja sakata
  7. hai, nahin hai aur kaha nahin ja sakata.

ise hi jain dharm men "syadavad" ya "anekantavad" kaha jata hai.
