bhagavan ne rakshasaraj ravan ko usaki ichchha ke anusar anupam bal aur parakram pradan kiya. bhagavan shiv ka kripa-prasad grahan karane ke bad natamastak hokar vinamrabhav se usane hath jo dakar kaha– ‘deveshvar! ap mujh par prasann hoie. maian apaki sharan mean aya hooan aur apako lanka mean le chalata hooan. ap mera manorath siddh kijie.’ is prakar ravan ke kathan ko sunakar bhagavan shankar asamanjas ki sthiti mean p d gaye. unhoanne upasthit dharmasankat ko talane ke lie anamane hokar kaha– ‘rakshasaraj! tum mere is uttam liang ko bhaktibhavapoorvak apani rajadhani mean le jao, kintu yah dhyan rakhana- raste mean tum ise yadi prithvi par rakhoge, to yah vahian achal ho jaega. ab tumhari jaisi ichchha ho vaisa karo’–

bhagavan shiv dvara aisa kahane par ‘bahut achchha’ aisa kahata hua rakshasaraj ravan us shivaliang ko sath lekar apani rajadhani lanka ki or chal diya. bhagavan shankar ki mayashakti ke prabhav se use raste mean jate hue mootrotsarg (peshab karane) ki prabal ichchha huee. samarthyashali ravan mootr ke veg ko rokane mean asamarth raha aur shivaliang ko ek gval ke hath mean pak da kar svayan peshab karane ke lie baith gaya. ek muhoort bitane ke bad vah gvala shivaliang ke bhar se pi dit ho utha aur usane liang ko prithvi par rakh diya. prithvi par rakhate hi vah manimay shivaliang vahian prithvi mean sthir ho gaya.

is prakar ravan ki tapasya ke phalasvaroop shri vaidyanatheshvar jyotirliang ka pradurbhav hua, jise devataoan ne svayan pratishthit kar poojan kiya. jo manushy shraddha bhaktipoorvak bhagavan shri vaidyanath ka abhishek karata hai, usaka sharirik aur manasik rog atishighr nasht ho jata hai. isalie vaidyanathadham mean rogiyoan v darshanarthiyoan ki vishesh bhi d dikhaee p dati hai.

yah jasidih relave steshan se lagabhag 5 kilomitar ki doori par p data hai tatha s dak marg se bhi yahaan pahuanchane ki achchhi vyavastha hai.
