'shiv puran' ka sambandh shaiv mat se hai. is puran men pramukh roop se shiv-bhakti aur shiv-mahima ka prachar-prasar kiya gaya hai. pray: sabhi puranon men shiv ko tyag, tapasya, vatsaly tatha karuna ki moorti bataya gaya hai. kaha gaya hai ki shiv sahaj hi prasann ho jane vale evn manovanchhit phal dene vale hain. kintu 'shiv puran' men shiv ke jivan charitr par prakash dalate hue unake rahan-sahan, vivah aur unake putron ki utpatti ke vishay men vishesh roop se bataya gaya hai.

bhagavan shiv sadaiv lokopakari aur hitakari hain. tridevon men inhen snhar ka devata bhi mana gaya hai. any devataon ki pooja-archana ki tulana men shivopasana ko atyant saral mana gaya hai. any devataon ki bhanti ko sugndhit pushpamalaon aur mithe pakavanon ki avashyakata nahin padati . shiv to svachchh jal, bilv patr, kntile aur n khae jane vale paudhon ke phal yatha-dhootara adi se hi prasann ho jate hain. shiv ko manoram veshabhoosha aur alnkaron ki avashyakata bhi nahin hai. ve to aughad baba hain. jatajoot dhari, gale men lipate nag aur rudraksh ki malaen, sharir par baghambar, chita ki bhasm lagae evn hath men trishool pakade hue ve sare vishv ko apani padchap tatha damaroo ki karnabhedi dhvani se nachate rahate hain. isilie unhen nataraj ki sngya bhi di gee hai. unaki veshabhoosha se 'jivan' aur 'mrityu' ka bodh hota hai. shish par gnga aur chandr –jivan evn kala ke dyotam hain. sharir par chita ki bhasm mrityu ki pratik hai. yah jivan gnga ki dhara ki bhanti chalate hue ant men mrityu sagar men lin ho jata hai.

'ramacharitamanas' men tulasidas ne jinhen 'ashiv veshadhari' aur 'nana vahan nana bhesh' vale ganon ka adhipati kaha hai, ve shiv jan-sulabh tatha adambar vihin vesh ko hi dharan karane vale hain. ve 'nilaknth' kahalate hain. kyonki samudr mnthan ke samay jab devagan evn asuragan adbhut aur bahumooly ratnon ko hastagat karane ke lie mare ja rahe the, tab kalakoot vish ke bahar nikalane se sabhi pichhe hat ge. use grahan karane ke lie koee taiyar nahin hua. tab shiv ne hi us mahavinashak vish ko apane knth men dharan kar liya. tabhi se shiv nilaknth kahalae. kyonki vish ke prabhav se unaka knth nila pad gaya tha.

aise paropakari aur aparigrahi shiv ka charitr varnit karane ke lie hi is puran ki rachana ki gee hai. yah puran poornat: bhakti granth hai. puranon ke many panch vishayon ka 'shiv puran' men abhav hai. is puran men kaliyug ke papakarm se grasit vyakti ko 'mukti' ke lie shiv-bhakti ka marg sujhaya gaya hai.

manushy ko nishkam bhav se apane samast karm shiv ko arpit kar dene chahie. vedon aur upanishadon men 'pranav - Om' ke jap ko mukti ka adhar bataya gaya hai. pranav ke atirikt 'gayatri mantr' ke jap ko bhi shanti aur mokshakarak kaha gaya hai. parantu is puran men ath snhitaon saka ullekh prapt hota hai, jo moksh karak hain. ye snhitaen hain- vidyeshvar snhita, rudr snhita, shatarudr snhita, kotirudr snhita, uma snhita, kailas snhita, vayu snhita (poorv bhag) aur vayu snhita (uttar bhag).

is vibhajan ke sath hi sarvapratham 'shiv puran' ka mahatmy prakat kiya gaya hai. is prasng men chnchula namak ek patita stri ki katha hai jo 'shiv puran' sunakar svayn sadgati ko prapt ho jati hai. yahi nahin, vah apane kumargagami pati ko bhi moksh dila deti hai. taduparant shiv pooja ki vidhi bataee gee hai. shiv katha sunane valon ko upavas adi n karane ke lie kaha gaya hai. kyonki bhookhe pet katha men man nahin lagata. sath hi garishth bhojan, basi bhojan, vayu vikar utpann karane vali dalen, baingan, mooli, pyaj, lahasun, gajar tatha mans-madira ka sevan varjit bataya gaya hai.

is snhita men shivaratri vrat, pnchakrity, onkar ka mahattv, shivaling ki pooja aur dan ke mahattv par prakash dala gaya hai. shiv ki bhasm aur rudraksh ka mahattv bhi bataya gaya hai. rudraksh jitana chhota hota hai, utana hi adhik phaladayak hota hai. khndit rudraksh, kidon dvara khaya hua rudraksh ya golaee rahit rudraksh kabhi dharan nahin karana chahie. sarvottam rudraksh vah hai jisamen svayn hi chhed hota hai. sabhi varn ke manushyon ko prat:kal ki bhor vela men uthakar soory ki or mukh karake devataon arthath shiv ka dhyan karana chahie. arjit dhan ke tin bhag karake ek bhag dhan vriddhi men, ek bhag upabhog men aur ek bhag dharm-karm men vyay karana chahie. isake alava krodh kabhi nahin karana chahie aur n hi krodh utpann karane vale vachan bolane chahie.

rudr snhita men shiv ka jivan-charitr varnit hai. isamen narad moh ki katha, sati ka daksh-ygy men deh tyag, parvati vivah, madan dahan, kartikey aur ganesh putron ka janm, prithvi parikrama ki katha, shnkhachood se yuddh aur usake snhar adi ki katha ka vistar se ullekh hai. shiv pooja ke prasng men kaha gaya hai ki doodh, dahi, madhu, ghrit aur ganne ke ras (pnchamrit) se snan karake champak, patal, kaner, mallika tatha kamal ke pushp chadhaen. phir dhoop, dip, naivedy aur tambool arpit karen. isase shivaji prasann ho jate hain.

isi snhita men 'srishti khand' ke antargat jagath ka adi karan shiv ko mana gaya hain shiv se hi adya shakti 'maya' ka avirbhav hota hain phir shiv se hi 'brahma' aur 'vishnu' ki utpatti bataee gee hai.

is snhita men shiv ke any charitron-hanuman, shvet mukh aur rishabhadev ka varnan hai. unhen shiv ka avatar kaha gaya hai. shiv ki ath moortiyan bhi bataee gee hain. in ath moortiyon se bhoomi, jal, agni, pavan, antariksh, kshetraj, soory aur chandr adhishthit hain. is snhita men shiv ke lokaprasiddh 'arddhanarishvar' roop dharan karane ki katha bataee gee hai. yah svaroop srishti-vikas men 'maithuni kriya' ke yogadan ke lie dhara gaya tha. 'shivapuran' ki 'shatarudr snhita' ke dvitiy adhyay men bhagavan shiv ko ashtamoorti kahakar unake ath roopon sharv, bhav, rudr, ugr, bhim, pashupati, eeshan, mahadev ka ullekh hai. shiv ki in asht moortiyon dvara panch mahabhoot tatv, eeshan (soory), mahadev (chndr), kshetrgy (jiv) adhishthit hain. charachar vishv ko dharan karana (bhav), jagat ke bahar bhitar vartaman rah spandit hona (ugr), akashatmak roop (bhim), samast kshetron ke jivon ka papanashak (pashupati), jagat ka prakashak soory (eeshan), dhulok men bhraman kar sabako ahlad dena (mahadev) roop hai.

kotirudr snhita

kotirudr snhita men shiv ke barah jyotirlingon ka varnan hai. ye jyotirlingon kramash: saurashtr men somanath, shrishail men mallikarjun, ujjayini men mahakaleshvar, onkar men amleshvar, himalay men kedaranath, dakini men bhimeshvar, kashi men vishvanath, gomati tat par tryambakeshvar, chitabhoomi men vaidyanath, setubndh men rameshvar, darook van men nageshvar aur shivalay men ghushmeshvar hain. isi snhita men vishnu dvara shiv ke sahastr namon ka varnan bhi hai. sath hi shivaratri vrat ke mahatmy ke sndarbh men vyaghr aur satyavadi mrig parivar ki katha bhi hai. bhagavan 'kedareshvar jyotirling' ke darshan ke bad badrinath men bhagavan nar-narayan ka darshan karane se manushy ke sare pap nasht ho jate hain aur use jivan-mukti bhi prapt ho jati hai. isi ashay ki mahima ko 'shivapuran' ke 'kotirudr snhita' men bhi vyakt kiya gaya hai-

is snhita men bhagavan shiv ke lie tap, dan aur gyan ka mahattv samajhaya gaya hai. yadi nishkam karm se tap kiya jae to usaki mahima svayn hi prakat ho jati hai. agyan ke nash se hi siddhi prapt hoti hai. 'shivapuran' ka adhyayan karane se agyan nasht ho jata hai. is snhita men vibhinn prakar ke papon ka ullekh karate hue bataya gaya hai ki kaun-se pap karane se kaun-sa narak prapt hota hai. pap ho jane par prayashchitt ke upay adi bhi isamen batae ge hain. 'uma snhita' men devi parvati ke adbhut charitr tatha unase snbndhit lilaon ka ullekh kiya gaya hai. choonki parvati bhagavan shiv ke adhe bhag se prakat huee hain aur bhagavan shiv ka anshik svaroop hain, isilie is snhita men uma mahima ka varnan kar apratyaksh roop se bhagavan shiv ke hi arddhanarishvar svaroop ka mahatmy prastut kiya gaya hai.

kailas snhita

kailas snhita men onkar ke mahattv ka varnan hai. isake alava yog ka vistar se ullekh hai. isamen vidhipoorvak shivopasana, nandi shraddh aur brahmaygyadi ki vivechana bhi ki gee hai. gayatri jap ka mahattv tatha vedon ke baees mahavakyon ke arth bhi samajhae ge hain.

vayu snhita

is snhita ke poorv aur uttar bhag men pashupat vigyan, moksh ke lie shiv gyan ki pradhanata, havan, yog aur shiv-dhyan ka mahattv samajhaya gaya hai. shiv hi charachar jagath ke ekamatr devata hain. shiv ke 'nirgun' aur 'sagun' roop ka vivechan karate hue kaha gaya hai ki shiv ek hi hain, jo samast praniyon par daya karate hain. is kary ke lie hi ve sagun roop dharan karate hain. jis prakar 'agni tattv' aur 'jal tattv' ko kisi roop vishesh men rakhakar laya jata hai, usi prakar shiv apana kalyanakari svaroop sakar moorti ke roop men prakat karake pidit vyakti ke sammukh ate hain shiv ki mahima ka gan hi is puran ka pratipady vishay hai.
