samavediy 'talavakar brahman' ke nauven adhyay men is upanishad ka ullekh hai. yah ek mahattvapoorn upanishad hai. isamen 'ken' (kisake dvara) ka vivechan hone se ise 'kenopanishad' kaha gaya hai. isake char khand hain.

  • pratham aur dvitiy khand men guru-shishy ki snvad-parampara dvara us (ken) prerak satta ki visheshataon, usaki goodh anubhootiyon adi par prakash dala gaya hai.
  • tisare aur chauthe khand men devataon men abhiman tatha usake man-mardan ke lie 'ygy-roop' men brahmi-chetana ke prakat hone ka upakhyan hai. ant men uma devi dvara prakat hokar devon ke lie 'brahmatattv' ka ullekh kiya gaya hai tatha brahm ki upasana ka dhng samajhaya gaya hai. manushy ko 'shrey' marg ki or prerit karana, is upanishad ka lakshy hain.

pratham khand

vah kaun hai?

  • is khand men 'brahm-chetana' ke prati shishy apane guru ke sammukh apani jigyasa prakat karata hai. vah apane mukh se prashn karata hai ki vah kaun hai, jo hamen paramatma ke vividh rahasyon ko janane ke lie prerit karata hai? gyan-vigyan tatha hamari atma ka snchalan karane vala vah kaun hai? vah kaun hai, jo hamari vani men, kanon men aur netron men nivas karata hai aur hamen bolane, sunane tatha dekhane ki shakti pradan karata hai?[1]
  • shishy ke prashno ka uttar dete hue guru batata hai ki jo sadhak man, pran, vani, ankh, kan adi men chetana-shakti bharane vale 'brahm' ko jan leta hai, vah jivanmukt hokar amar ho jata hai tatha avagaman ke chakr se chhoot jata hai.
  • vah mahanh chetanatattv (brahm) vakh ka bhi vakh hai, pran-shakti ka bhi pran hai, vah hamare jivan ka adhar hai, vah chakshu ka bhi chakshu hai, vah sarvashaktiman hai aur shravan-shakti ka bhi mool adhar hai. hamara man usi ki mahatta se manan kar pata hai. use hi 'brahm' samajhana chahie. use ankhon se aur kanon se n to dekha ja sakata hai, n suna ja sakata hai.

doosara khand

vah sarvgy hai

  • is khand men 'brahm' ki agyeyata aur manav-jivan ke mahattv par prakash dala gaya hai. guru shishy ko batata hai ki jo asim aur anant hai, use vah bhali prakar se janata hai ya vah use jan gaya hai, aisa nahin hai. use poorn roop se jan pana asambhav hai. ham use janate hain ya nahin janate hain, ye donon hi kathan apoorn hain.
  • ahnkaravihin vyakti ka vah bodh, jisake dvara vah gyan prapt karata hai, usi se vah amrit-svaroop 'parabrahm' ko anubhav kar pata hai. jisane apane jivan men aisa gyan prapt kar liya, use hi parabrahm ka anubhav ho pata hai. kisi any yoni men janm lekar vah aisa nahin kar pata. any samast yoniyan, karm-bhog ki yoniyan hain. manav-jivan men hi buddhiman purush pratyek vani, pratyek tattv tatha pratyek jiv men us paramatmasatta ko vyapt janakar is lok men jata hai aur amaratv ko prapt karata hai.

tisara khand

vah ahnkar se pare hai

  • tisare khand men devataon ke ahnkar ka mardan kiya gaya hai. ek bar us brahm ne devataon ko madhyam banakar asuron par vijay prapt ki. is vijay se devataon ko abhiman ho gaya ki asuron par vijay prapt karane vale ve svayn hain. isamen 'brahm' ne kya kiya?
  • tab brahm ne un devataon ke ahnkar ko janakar unake sammukh yaksh ke roop men apane ko prakat kiya. tab devataon ne janana chaha ki vah yaksh kaun hai?
  • sabase pahale agnidev ne jakar yaksh se usaka parichay poochha. yaksh ne agnidev se unaka parichay poochha-'ap kaun hain?
  • agnidev ne uttar diya ki vah agni hai aur log use jataveda kahate hain. vah chahe, to is prithvi par jo kuchh bhi hai, use bhasm kar sakata hai, jala sakata hai.
  • tab yaksh ne ek tinaka agnidev ke sammukh rakhakar kaha-'ap ise jala dijiye.'
  • agnidev ne bahut prayatn kiya, par ve us tinake ko jala nahin sake. harakar unhonne any devon ke pas lautakar kaha ki ve us yaksh ko nahin jan sake.
  • usake bad vayu dev ne jakar apana parichay diya aur apani shakti ka badh-chadhakar bakhan kiya. is par yaksh ne vayu se kaha ki ve is tinake ko uda den, parantu apani sari shakti lagane par bhi vayudev us tinake ko uda nahin sake. tab vayudev ne indr ke samaksh lautakar kaha ki ve us yaksh ko samajhane men asamarth rahe. unhonne indr se pata lagane ke lie kaha.
  • indr ne yaksh ka pata lagane ke lie tivragati se yaksh ki or prayan kiya, parantu usake vahan pahunchane se pahale hi yaksh antardhan ho gaya. tab indr ne bhagavati uma se yaksh ke bare men prashn kiya ki yah yaksh kaun tha?

chautha khand

vahi brahm hai

  • indr ke prashn ko sunakar umadevi ne kaha-'he devaraj! samast devon men agni, vayu aur svayn ap shreshth mane jate hain; kyonki brahm ko shakti-roop men inhin tin devon ne sarvapratham samajha tha aur brahm ka sakshatkar kiya tha. yah yaksh vahi brahm tha. brahm ki vijay hi samast devon ki vijay hai.'[2]
  • indr ke sammukh yaksh ka antardhan hona, brahm ki upasthiti ka snket- bijali ke chamakane aur jhapakane- jaisa hai. ise sookshm daivik snket samajhana chahie. man jab 'brahm' ke nikat hone ka snkalp karake brahm-prapti ka anubhav karata hua-sa pratit ho, tab vah brahm ki upasthiti ka sookshm snket hota hai.
  • jo vyakti brahm ke 'ras-svaroop' ka bodh karata hai, use hi atmatattv ki prapti ho pati hai. tapasya, man aur indriyon ka niyantran tatha asakti-rahit shreshth karm, ye brahmavidya-prapti ke adhar hain. vedon men is vidya ka savistar varnan hai. is brahmavidya ko janane vala sadhak apane samast papon ko nasht hua manakar us avinashi, asim aur paramadham ko prapt kar leta hai.
  • tab indr ko yaksh ke tatvik svaroop ka bodh hua aur unhonne apane ahnkar ka tyag kiya.
  • ant men brahmavetta jigyasu shishyon ko batata hai ki is upanishad dvara tumhen brahm-prapti ka marg dikhaya gaya hai. is par chalakar tum brahm ke nikat pahunch sakate ho.
