kaushitaki brahman ko shankhayan brahman bhi kahate hain. isaki rachana ka shrey shnkhayan athava kaushitaki ko jata hai. kaushitaki shnkhayan ke guru the. atah shnkhayan ne apane guru ke nam par isaka namakaran kiya. yah rigved ki vashkal shakha se sambandhit hai. yah 30 adhyayon men vibhakt hai aur isamen 226 khand hain. is granth men any brahman granthon ki bhanti manaviy achar ke niyam aur nirdesh die ge hain.

yah rigved ka dvitiy upalabdh brahman granth hai. shankhayan ka sankhyayan roop men bhi kahin-kahin ullekh milata hai. isi ka doosara nam kaushitaki-brahman bhi hai. rigved ki bashkal-shakha se isaka sambandh batalaya gaya hai. is par koee bhi prachaiin bhashy prakashit nahin hua hai.[1] sampoorn granth 30 adhyayon men vibhakt hai. pratyek adhyay men khandon ka avantar vibhajan prapt hota hai. kul 227 khand hain. parampara isake pravachan ka shrey shankhayan athava kaushitaki (ya kaushitak) ko deti hai. shankhayan brahman men anek sthanon par unake maton ka namna ullekh hai tandyamaha brahman men kaushitakon ka ullekh vratyabhavapann roop men hai-

uparyukt pnktiyon ke anusar ayajy-yajan ke karan kaushitak vnshiyon ko samaj men koee shrey ya pratishtha prapt nahin huee. shakhayan aranyak men inaki vnsh-parampara ka ullekh is prakar hai-

isake anusar uddalak aruni se kahol kaushitaki ne, unase gunakhy shankhayan ne aur unase vnsh-parampara ke lekhak tak yah adhyayan-parampara pahunchi. vastav men yah vnsh-parampara vidyakram se hain, janm-kram se nahin. kaushitaki aur shankhayan, is parampara se, paraspar guru-shishy siddh hote hain. at: shankhayan ko hi antim roop se shankhayanashakhiy brahman granth ka pravakta mana jana chahie. achary shankhayan ne hi apane guru kaushitaki ke nam par isaka namakaran kar diya hoga, lekin parampara men shankhayan ka nam bhi suakshit rah gaya. charanavyooh ki mahidas-krit tika men uddhat ‘mahavarn’ ke nam shlok se bhi isaki pushti hoti hai, jisamen brahman ka nam to kaushitaki hi hai, kintu shakha shankhayani kahi gee hai-
uttare gurjare deshe vedo bahvrich eerit:. kaushitaki brahmann ch shakha shankhayani sthita॥[3]
shnkarachary ne bhi brahmasootr[4] ke bhashy men kaushitaki-brahman nam ko svikar kiya hai. 30 adhyayatmak is brahman ka ullekh ashtadhyayi men bhi hai.[5]

vishay-niroopan-shaili

aitarey ki apeksha shankhayan-brahman ka vaishishty yah hai ki usamen somayagon ke atirikt ishtiyon aur pashuyagon ka pratipadan bhi hua hai. shankhayan-brahman ke arambhik chhah adhyayon men darshapoornamasadi ki hi vivechana hai. aitarey-brahman ki vishay-vastu ke sath usaki samanata saptam adhyay se arambh hoti hai. aitarey ke antim 10 adhyayon men niroopit vishay-vastu shankhayan men svaroopat: nahin hai. aitarey ki apeksha shankhayan-brahman adhik prachin pratit hota hai. vastab men aitarey-brahman ka sampadan shankhayan-pradatt samagri se hi hua hai, isalie shankhayan ki apeksha aitarey-brahman men adhik spashtat, subodhata tatha vyavastha hai. shankhayan-brahman men prapt vishad vichar-vimarsh ko chhodakar, aitarey-brahman me. anek tathyon ki parinishthit roop men prastuti dikhalaee deti hai. udaharan ke lie shankhayan ke arambh men agni ki sthiti par vistrit charcha ki gee hai, jabaki aitarey men isaka astitv nahin hain. donon men saman roop se prapt pnktiyon se inaki pratipadan shailiyon ki bhinnata ka akalan kiya ja sakata hai-
agnirvai devanamavarardhyo vishnu: parardhyastadyashchaiv devanamavarardhyo yashch parardhyastabhyamevaitatsarva devata: parigrihy salokatamapnoti’.[6]
isi abhipray ki prastuti aitarey-brahman men adhik suspashtata se huee hai-[7] shankhayan men ‘agnavaishnavamekadashakapaln purodashn nirvapanti’ pnkti uddhrit ansh se pahale aee hai aur aitarey men bad men. is drishti se aitarey ki vyavastha adhik yuktisngat pratit hoti hai kyonki agni aur vishnu ke nimitt purodash-nirvap-vidhan se poorv yag men agni aur vishnu ki sthiti ko spasht kar dena avashyak tha. roop-samriddhi ko kaushitaki-brahman men ‘abhiroopata’ kaha gaya hai. apani isi suvyavasthit niroopan-shaili ke karan shankhayan ki apeksha aitarey-brahman ko adhik lokapriyata prapt huee. lekin somayagon ke sath hi ishtiyon ke bhi pratipadan ke karan shankhayan ka mahattv akshunn hai. shankhayan ki yag-mimansa men bhi prachinata ka gaurav vidyaman hai.

achar-mimansa

aitarey-brahman ke sadrish shankhayan-brahman men bhi manaviy achar ke niyamak aur nirdeshak tattv bahuly se upalabdh hote hain. vyakti ki pahachan vani se hoti hai, kyonki vah pranimatr ki adhishthatri hai. jivan men pragati-path par age badhate hue vyakti ke lie vani param upadey siddh hoti hai, is or shankhayan-brahmanakar ka dhyan hai.[8] oopar ‘sarp’ shabd pranimatr ke lie vyavahrit hai. vani ke snskar ki disha uttar ya pashchimottar batalaee gee hai-
udichyan dishi prgyatatar vagudyate. udanch u ev yanti vachn shikshitumh. yo v tadh agachchhati tasy va shushrushant iti h smah. esha hi vacho dikh prgyata.[9]

shankhayan-brahman men purush ke shatayushy utsavamayata aur shatadhik parakramon aur aindrik samarthy ki akanksha vyakt ki gee hai-‘shatayurve purush:’[13]; ‘shatayurvai purush: shataparva shataviry: shatendriy:’.[14] manav-jivan chatushtayatmak hai. bhashyakar vinayak ke hastalekh ke anusar ‘chatushtay’ shabd dharm, arth, kam aur moksh ko lakshit karata hai. nishkarsh yah hai ki shankhayan-brahman pramanik yag-mimansa, prachinata, snshlisht-pratipadan aur prerak achar-mimansa ke karan brahman-sahity men atyant mahattvapoorn hai.[15]
