'varah puran' ek yojanabaddh roop se likha gaya puran hai. puranon ke sabhi anivary lakshan isamen milate hain. mukhy roop se is puran men tirthon ke sabhi mahatmy aur pandon-pujariyon ko adhik se adhik dan-dakshina dene ke puny ka prachar kiya gaya hai. sath hi kuchh sanatan upadesh bhi hain jinhen grahan karana pratyek prani ka lakshy hona chahie. ve ati uttam hain.

'varah puran' men vishnu pooja ka anushthan vidhipoorvak karane ki shiksha di gee hai. sath hi trishakti mahatmy, shakti mahima, ganapati charitr, kartikey charitr, rudr kshetron ka varnan, soory, shiv, brahma mahatmy, tithiyon ke anusar devi-devataon ki upasana vidhi aur unake charitron ka sundar varnan bhi kiya gaya hai. isake atirikt agnidev, ashvinikumar, gauri, nag, durga, kuber, dharm, rudr, pitrigan, chandr ki utpatti, matsy aur koormavataron ki katha, vraton ka mahattv, godan, shraddh tatha any anekanek snskaron evn anushthanon ko vidhipoorvak sampann karane par bal diya gaya hai. sabhi dharm-karmon men dan-dakshina ki mahima ka bakhan bhi hai.

srishti ki rachana, yug mahatmy, pashupalan, sapt dvip varnan, nadiyon aur parvaton ke varnan, som ki utpatti, tarah-tarah ke dan-puny ki mahima, sadacharon aur duracharon ke phalasvaroop svarg-narak ke varnan, papon ka prayashchitt karane ki vidhi adi ka vistrit varnan is puran men kiya gaya hai. mahishasur vadh ki katha bhi isamen di gee hai. 'varah puran' men shraddh aur pind dan ki mahima ka varnan vistar se kiya gaya hai. is puran ki sabase badi visheshata yah hai ki vastavik dharm ke niroopan ki vyakhya isamen bahut achchhi tarah ki gee hai.

isaka 'nachiketa upakhyan' bhi atyant mahattvapoorn hai. isamen pap samooh aur pap-nash ke upayon ka sundar varnan kiya gaya hai. kuchh pramukh pap karmon ka ullekh karate hue puranakar kahata hai ki hinsa, chugali, chori, ag lagana, jiv hatya, asaty kathan, apashabd bolana, doosaron ko apamanit karana, vyngy karana, jhoothi aphavahen phailana, striyon ko bahakana, milavat karana adi bhi pap hain. narad aur yam ke snvad men manushy pap karm se kis prakar bache- isaka uttar dete hue yam kahate hain ki yah snsar manushy ki karmabhumi hai. jo bhi isamen janm leta hai, use karm karane hi padate hain. karm karane vala svayn hi apane karmon ke lie uttaradayi hota hai. atma hi atma ka bandhu, mitr aur saga hota hai. atma ki atma ka shatru bhi hota hai. jis vyakti ka ant:karan shuddh hai, jisane apani atma par vijay prapt kar li hai aur jo samast praniyon men samata ka bhav rakhata hai; vah satygyani manushy sabhi papon se mukt ho jata hai. jo vyakti yog tatha pranayam dvara 'man' aur 'indriyon' par vijay prapt kar leta hai, vah sabhi tarah ke papon se chhutakara pa jata hai. jo vyakti man-vachan-karm se kisi jiv ki hinsa nahin karata, kisi ko du:kh nahin pahunchata, jo lobh aur krodh se rahit hai, jo sada nyay-niti par chalata hai tatha shubh karm karate hue ashubh karmon se door rahata hai; vah kisi pap ka bhagidar nahin hota.

'varah puran' ka bhaugolik varnan any puranon ke bhaugolik varnanon se adhik pramanik aur spasht hai. mathura ke tirthon ka varnan atyant vistrit roop se is puran men kiya gaya hai. kahane ka ashay yahi hai ki 'varah puran' ka vivaran any puranon ki tulana men atyant saragarbhit hai.

charon varnon ke lie

charon varnon ke lie saty dharm ka palan aur shuddh acharan karane par bal diya gaya hai.'brahman' ko ahnkar rahit, svarth rahit, jitendriy aur anasakt yogi ki bhanti hona chahie. 'kshatriy' ko ahnkar rahit, adaraniy tatha chhat-kapat se door rahana chahie. 'vaishy' ko dharmaparayan, dani, labh-hani ki chinta n karane vala aur karttavy parayan hona chahie. 'shoodr' ko apane sabhi kary nishkam bhav aur seva bhav se bhagavan ko arpan karate hue karane chahie. use atithi satkar karane vala, shuddhatma, vinayashil, shraddhavan aur ahnkar vihin hona chahie. aisa shoodr hazaron rishiyon se badhakar hota hai. usaki seva ke lie sabhi ko sadaiv tatpar rahana chahie.

is kaliyug men brahman apane karttavyon se vimukh, pakhandi, svarthi aur kamavasanaon ke das ho ge hain. isake pichhe ek kathanak 'varah puran' men diya gaya hai. ek bar kuchh brahman rishi gautam rishi ke ashram men jakar ek mayavi gay bandh ae. us samay bhayanak akal pad raha tha. gautam ji ashram men ae. jab unhonne mayavi gay ko atane ke lie pani ka chhinta mara to vah mar gee. rishiyon ne tatkal un par gauhatya ka dosh laga diya. gautam rishi ne apane tapobal se us gay ko pun: jivit kar diya. tab lajjit hue rishiyon ko gautam rishi ne shap diya ki ve tinon vedon ke bhool jaenge. tabhi se kaliyug men brahman patan ki or unmukh hain.

'varah puran' ke any apakhyanon men chil, siyar, khnjan adi pashu-pakshiyon dvara yah upadesh diya gaya hai ki sachcha sukh usi ko prapt hota hai jo svarth tyag kar paropakar aur paramarth ka jivan vyatit karata hai. eeshvar ka sachcha bhakt vahi hai, jo paraninda nahin karata, sadaiv saty bolata hai tatha parastri par buri drishti nahin dalata. dharm koee bndhi-bndhaee vastu nahin hai. sabhi vidvanon ne dharm ki vyakhya apane-apane dhng se ki hai. desh-kal ke anusar dharm ke roop badalate rahate hain.

isalie kaha gaya hai ki jo manushy dharm ke saty-svaroop ko achchhi prakar samajhate hain, ve kabhi doosare dharmon ka apaman ya niradar nahin karate. ve sabhi dharmon ka saman roop se adar karate hain. kisi vad-vivad men nahin padate. is puran ka yahi upadesh aur yahi uddeshy hai, jo atyant vyapak tatha udatt hai. pap ka prayashchitt hi man ki sachchi shanti hai.
