hindoo dharmik manyata ke anusar yah mana jata hai ki vishnu bhagavan 'koormavatar' arthath kachchhap roop men samudr mnthan ke samay mandarachal ko apani pith par dharan karane ke prasng men raja indradyumn ko gyan, bhakti aur moksh ka upadesh dete hain. use hi lomaharshan soot ji ne shaunakadi rishiyon ko naimisharany men sunaya tha. vahi 'koorm puran' ka roop grahan kar saka.

snhita

is puran men char snhitaen hain-

  1. brahmi snhita,
  2. bhagavati snhita,
  3. shauri snhita aur
  4. vaishnavi snhita. in charon snhitaon men aj keval brahmi snhita hi prapy upalabdh hai. shesh snhitaen upalabdh nahin hain. brahmi snhita men puranon ke pray: sabhi lakshan-sarg, pratisarg, devon aur rishiyon ke vnsh, manvantar, vnshanucharit tatha any dharmik kathaen adi upalabdh hain. is puran ne vaishnav, shaiv aur shakt-tinon sampradayon ko samanvayatmak roop prastut kiya hai. sabhi ko saman manyata di hai.

srishti ki utpatti

any puranon ki bhanti 'koorm puran' men bhi srishti ki utpatti 'brahm' se svikar ki gee hai. sabhi jad-chetan svaroopon men jivan ka ansh mana gaya hai aur is jivan-ansh ko hi brahm ka ansh kaha gaya hai. jaise-meroo parvat ki ayati aur niyati do kanyaen thin, jinaka vivah dhata evn vidhata se hua tha. phir unaki bhi santanen hueen. is prakar jad padarth ko bhi manaviy roop dekar puranakar ne unhen jivit manushy hi mana hai. isi srishti se manav jati ka bhi vikas hua.

bharatiy puranakaron ko visheshata rahi hai ki unhonne sabhi jad-chetan svaroopon men jivan ka ansh manakar unamen paraspar bandhutv ki bhavana samahit ki hai aur unhen poojaniy bana diya hai. sabase pahale is puran men samudr mnthan se utpann vishnu ki maya athava shakti 'lakshmi' ke pradurbhav ka prasng uthakar usaki stuti karane ki bat kahi gee hai. taduparant vishnu ke nabhi kamal se brahma ji ka janm hota hai. phir brahma se unake nau manas putron ke janm ka vrittant hai. phir vedon men nihit gyan ki mahima aur varnashram dharm ka vishad vivechan hai. yahan koorm roop men vishnu bhagavan svayn rishiyon se charon ashramon ka ullekh karake unake do-do roop batate hain. yatha-

  • brahmachary ashram ke do bhed- is ashram men rahane vale do prakar ke brahmachari- 'upakuvanik' aur 'naishtik' hote hain. jo brahmachari vidhivat vedon tatha any shastron ka adhyayan karake grihasth jivan men pravesh karata hai, vah 'upakuvanik brahmachari' hota hai aur jo manushy jivanaparyant guru ke nikat rahakar brahmgyan ka satat abhyas karata hai, vah 'naishtik brahmachari' kahalata hai.

  • grihasthashram ke do bhed- grihasthashram men rahane vale vyakti 'sadhak' aur 'udasin' kahalate hain. jo vyakti apani grihasthi evn parivar ke bharan-poshan men laga rahata hai, vah 'sadhak grihasth' kahalata hai aur jo devaganon ke rin, pitriganon ke rin tatha rishigan ke rin se mukt hokar nirlipt bhav se apani patni evn sampatti ka upabhog karata hai, vah 'udasin grihasth' kaha jata hai.
  • vanaprasth ashram ke do bhed- ise do roopon 'tapas' aur 'sannyasik' men vibhakt kiya gaya hai. jo vyakti van men rahakar havan, anushthan tatha svadhyay karata hai, vah 'tapas vanaprasthi' kahalata hai aur jo sadhak kathor tap se apane sharir ko krish evn kshin kar leta hai tatha eeshvaradhana men nirantar laga rahata hai, use 'sannyasik vanaprasthi' kaha jata hai.
  • sannyas ashram ke do bhed- sannyas ashram men rahane vale vyakti 'parameshthik' tatha 'yogi' kahalate hain. nityaprati yogabhyas dvara apani indriyon aur man ko jitane vala tatha moksh ki kamana rakhane vala sadhak 'parameshthik snnyasi' kahalata hai aur jo vyakti brahm ka sakshatkar kar apani atma men hi paramatma ke divy svaroop ka darshan karata hai, vah 'yogi snnyasi' kaha jata hai.
  • yahan puranakar ne nishkam karm yog sadhana; narayan, vishnu, brahma aur mahadev namon ki vyakhya, chaturyug varnan, kal varnan, nau prakar ki srishtiyon ka varnan, madhu-kaitabh rakshas ki utpatti aur unake vadh ka drishtant, bhagavan shiv ke vividh roopon tatha namon ki mahima ka varnan, shakti ki upasana ka goodh, gahan tatha bhavuk varnan, daksh kanyaon dvara utpann santati ka varnan, nrisinh avatar lila ka varnan, bhakt prahlad ka charitr, sooryavnshi rajaon ki vnshavali, chandr vnsh ki vnshavali, varanasi ke vishveshvar ling ki mahima, vyas aur jaimini rishi ke madhy dharm sambandhi snvadon ka vivaran, sthool sharir se sookshm sharir men jane ka varnan, moksh varnan tatha pauranik bhoogol ka vistrit ullekh kiya hai.

ye sare vishay 'koorm puran' ke poorvarddh bhag men samahit hain. is puran ke uttarardh men 'eeshvar gita' aur 'vyas gita' ka bada hi sundar-darshanik vivechan kiya gaya hai. eeshvar aur bhagavan shiv ke madhy hue snvad ko rishigan grahan karate hain. use 'eeshvar gita' ka nam diya gaya hai. is gita par vyas ji dvara 'mahabharat' men rachit 'shrimadbhagavat gita' ka gahara aur vyapak prabhav drishtigochar hota hai. isamen nataraj shiv ke vishv roop ka varnan hai. 'atmatattv' ke svaroop ka niroopan karate hue svayn bhagavan shiv kahate hain ki jis prakar prakash aur andhakar ka, dhoop aur chhaya ko koee sambandh nahin ho sakata, usi prakar 'atma' aur 'prapnch' donon ek-doosare se sarvatha bhinn hain. sukh-dukh, rag-dvesh, sthool aur sookshm adi atma ke lakshan nahin hain. ye sabhi vikar hain, jinhen manushy apane ahnkar ke karan dharan kar leta hai. isaka mool karan agyan hai. jab yogi sabhi praniyon men atma ka samabhav dekhane lagata hai, tabhi vah sachcha premi ho jata hai. vyas ki 'shrimadbhagavadh gita' men bhagavan shrikrishn arjun se kahate hain-
atmaupamyen sarvatr samn pashyati yoarjun.
sukhn va yadi va du:khn s yogi paramo mat:॥ (shrimadbhagavadh gita 6/32)

  • arthath he arjun! vah vyakti poorn yogi hai, jo apani tulana se samast praniyon ke sukhon tatha dukhon men vastavik samanata ka darshan karata hai. aisa hi bhav 'shrimadbhagavadh gita' men ek any sthan par bhi aya hai-

vidyavinayasnpanne brahmane gavi hastini.
shuni chaiv shvapake ch pandita: samadarshin:॥ (shrimadbhagavadh gita 5/18)

  • arthath vinamr-sadhu purush apane vastavik gyan ke karan ek vidvan, vinit brahman, gay, hathi, kutta tatha chandal ko saman drishti se dekhate hain. bhav yahi hai ki jad-chetan, pashu-pakshi, nar-nari- sabhi men jo vyakti atma ke saman bhav se darshan karata hai, vahi poorn yogi hota hai arthath paramatma se usaka snyog ho jata hai. vah usi ki param jyoti men lin hokar apana astitv samapt kar leta hai.

sankhy yog

  • isake alava 'koorm puran' men sankhy yog ke chaubis tattvon, sadachar ke niyamon, gayatri, mahima, grihasth dharm, shreshth samajik niyamon, vividh snskaron, pitrikarmon- shraddh, pindadan adi ki vidhiyon tatha charon ashramon men rahate hue achar-vicharon ka palan karane ka vistar se vivechan kiya gaya hai.
  • is puran ki ganana shaiv puranon men ki jati hai. kintu vishnu ki ninda athava unake prabhav ko kam karake isamen nahin anka gaya hai. isamen devi mahatmy ka bhi vyapak varnan hai. sagun aur nirgun brahm ki upasana ka sundar aur saragarbhit vivechan bhi isamen prapt hota hai.
