kootasth bharatiy darshan mean atma, purush, brahm tatha eeshvar ke lie prayukt shabd. yah param satta ke svaroop ko vyakt karata hai.

'kootasth' ka arth hai- 'koot ka adhishthan' athava 'adhar'. jo vastu oopar se achchhi pratit hoti hai, kiantu aandar se doshapoorn hai, use 'koot' kahate haian. darshan mean koot shabd maya athava prakriti ke lie prayukt hua hai; maya jivoan ke janm, maran, ajnan, du:kh adi ka karan hone se anek doshoan se paripoorn hai. maya ka adhishthan hone ke karan atma, brahm athava eeshvar kootasth kahe ge haian.
- 'kootasth' ka ek doosara arth yah bhi hai ki "jo rashi athava dher ki bhaanti nishkriy roop se sthit ho". maya adi anek prakar se sthit hone ke karan brahm kootasth kahalata hai.

kootasth hone ke karan brahm achal aur nity hai. vah sada ek roop mean rahane vala paramarthik tatv haian. shankarachary ke anusar brahm mean parinam athava parivartan sanbhav nahian hai, kyoanki vah kootasth hai. vah bina parivartit hue hi apani maya shakti dvara jagath adi anek roopoan mean vyakt hota hai. sansar ke sab padarth deshakal se simit tatha karan siddhaant se niyantrit hote haian, kiantu kootasth brahm inase poornaroop se svatantr hai. vah samast vishv ko vyapt karata hai, kiantu usase pare bhi hai. prakriti se utpann sabhi padarth kshar tatha nashvar haian, kiantu kootasth brahm akshar athava avinashi hai. vah shuddh chetan hai. vah keval jnata hai, jney nahian. iandriy, vani, man tatha buddhi ke dvara usaka jnan nahian ho sakata, kyoanki vah in sabaka adhar hai. usi ki chetana ke prakash se ye sab bhi prakashit hote haian. 'shrimadbhagavadagita' ke anusar atmasakshatkar hone se yogi kootasth aur jiteandriy ho jata hai. jivan ke dvandv use us avastha mean prabhavit nahian kar pate. vah karmabandhan se sarvatha mukt ho jata hai tatha moksh prapt kar leta hai.
