tryambakeshvar mndir (angrezi:Trimbakeshwar Temple) maharashtr prant ke nasik janapad men nasik shahar se tis kilomitar pashchim men avasthit hai. ise trayambak jyotirling, tryambakeshvar shiv mandir bhi kahate hai. yahan samip men hi brahmagiri namak parvat se godavari nadi nikalati hai. jis prakar uttar bharat men pravahit hone vali pavitr nadi gnga ka vishesh adhyatmik mahattv hai, usi prakar dakshin men pravahit hone vali is pavitr nadi godavari ka vishesh mahattv hai. jahan uttarabharat ki gnga ko ‘bhagirathi’ kaha jata hain, vahin is godavari nadi ko ‘gautami gnga’ kahakar pukara jata hai. bhagirathi raja bhagirath ki tapasya ka parinam hai, to godavari rishi gautam ki tapasya ka sakshat phal hai.

mahakumbh ka ayojan

desh men lagane vale vishv ke prasiddh char mahakumbh melon men se ek mahakumbh ka mela yahin lagata hai. yahan pratyek barahaven varsh jab sinh rashi par brihaspati ka padarpan hota hai aur soory narayan bhi sinh rashi par hi sthit hote hain, tab mahakumbh parv ka snan, mela adi dharmik krityon ka samaroh hota hai. un dinon godavari gnga men snan ka adhyatmik puny bataya gaya hai.

shri tryambakeshvar shiv

godavari ke udgagam sthal ke samip hi shri tryambakeshvar shiv avasthit hain, jinaki mahima ka bakhan puranon men kiya gaya hai. rishi gautam aur pavitr nadi godavari ki prarthana par hi bhagavan shiv ne is sthan par apane vas ki svikriti di thi. vahi bhagavan shiv ‘tryambakeshvar’ nam se is jagath men vikhyat hue. yahan sthit jyotirling ka pratyaksh darshan striyon ke lie nishiddh hai, at: ve keval bhagavan ke mukut ka darshan karati hain. tryambakeshvar-mandir men sarvasamany logon ka bhi pravesh n hokar, jo dvij (brahman, kshatriy aur vaishy) hain tatha bhajan-poojan karate hain aur pavitrata rakhate hain, ve hi log mandir ke andar pravesh kar pate hain. inase atirikt logon ko bahar se hi mandir ka darshan karana padata hai.

shri tryambakeshvar aur godavari

yahan mandir ke bhitar ek gaddhe men tin chhote-chhote ling hain, jo brahma vishnu aur shiv in tinon devon ke pratik mane jate hain. brahmagiri se nikalane vali godavari ki jaladhara in trimoortiyon par anavarat roop se padati rahati hai. brahmagiri parvat ke oopar jane ke lie sat sau sidhiyon ka nirman karaya gaya hai. oopari pahadi par ‘ramakund’ aur ‘lakshmanakund’ namak do kund bhi sthit hain. parvat ki choti par pahunchane par gomukhi se nikalati huee bhagavan gautami (godavari) ka darshan prapt hota hai. shri shiv mahapuran ke kotirudr snhita men rishi gautam- gautami-godavari tatha tryambakeshvar jyotirling ke sambandh men vistar se varnan kiya gaya hai jo is prakar hai-

shiv puran ke anusar

‘poorv samay men gautam nam ke ek prasiddh rishi apani dharmapatni ahalya ke sath rahate the. unhonne dakshin bharat ke brahmagiri parvat par das hazar varshon tak kathor tapasya ki thi. ek samay vahan sau varshon tak varsha bilkul nahin huee, sab jagah sookha padane ke karan jivadhariyon men bechaini ho gee. jal ke abhav men ped-paudhe sookh gaye, prithvi par mahanh snkat toot pada, sarvatr chinta hi chinta, akhir jivan ko dharan karane vala jal kahan se laya jaye? us samay manushy, muni, pashu, pakshi tatha any jivanadhari bhi jal ke lie bhatakate hue vividh dishaon men chale gaye. usake bad rishi gautam ne chh: mahine tak kathor tapasya karake varun devata ko prasann kiya. rishi ne varun devata se jab jal barasane ki prarthana ki, to unhonne kaha ki main devataon ke vidhan ke viparit vrishti nahin kar sakata, kintu tumhari ichchha ki poorti hetu tumhen 'akshay'[1] jal deta hoon. tum us jal ko rakhane ke lie ek gaddha taiyar karo. varun dev ke adesh ke anusar rishi gautam ne ek hath gahara gaddha khod diya, jise varun ne apane divy jal se bhar diya. usake bad unhonne paropakar parayan rishi gautam se kaha– ‘mahamune! yah akshunn jal kabhi nasht nahin hoga aur tirth banakar is prithvi par tumhare hi nam se prasiddh hoga. isake samip dan-puny, havan-ygy, tarpan, dev poojan aur pitaron ka shraddh, sab kuchh akshay phaladayi honge. usake bad us jal se rishi gautam ne bahuton ka kalyan kiya, jisase unhen sukh ki anubhooti huee.

is prakar varun se akshay jal ki prapti ke bad rishi gautam anand ke sath apane nity naimittik karm, ygy adi sampann karane lage. unhonne apane nity havan-ygy ke lie dhan, jaun, nivar (rishi dhany) adi lagavaya. jal ki sulabhata se vahan vividh prakar ki fasalen, anek prakar ke vriksh tatha phal-phool lahalaha uthe. is prakar jal ki suvidha aur vyavastha ko sunakar vahan hazaron rishi-muni, pashu-pakshi aur jivadhari rahane lage. karm karane vale bahut se rishi-muni apani dharmapatniyon, putron tatha shishyon ke sath rahane lage. samay ka sadupayog karane ke lie gautam ne kafi kheton men dhan lagaya. unake prabhav se us kshetr men sab or anand hi anand tha.

ek bar kuchh brahmanon ki striyan jo gautam ke ashram men akar nivas karati thin, jal ke sambandh men vivad ho jane par ahalya se naraz ho gayi. unhonne gautam ko nuqasan pahunchane hetu apane patiyon ko ukasaya. un brahmanon ne gautam ka anisht karane hetu ganesh ji ki aradhana ki. ganesh ji ke prasann hone par un brahmanon ne unase kaha ki ap aisa koee upay kijie ki yahan ke sabhi rishi dant-phatakar kar gautam ko ashram se bahar nikal den. ganesh ji ne un sabako samajhaya ki tum logon ko aisa karana uchit nahin hai. yadi tum log bina aparadh kiye hi gautam par krodh karoge, to isase tum logon ki hi hani hogi. jisane pahale upakar kiya ho, aise vyakti ko kasht diya jay, to vah apane lie hi du:khadayi hota hai. jab akal pada tha aur upavas ke karan tum log du:kh bhog rahe the, us samay gautam ne jal ki vyavastha karake tum logon ko sukh pahunchaya, kintu ab tum log unhen hi kasht dena chahate ho. us vishay par tum log punarvichar karo. ganesh ji ke samajhane par bhi ve dusht rishi doosara var lene ke lie taiyar nahin hue aur apane pahale vale duragrah par ade rahe.

shivaputr ganesh apane bhakton ke adhin hone ke karan, unake dvara gautam ke viruddh mange gaye var ko svikar kar liya aur kaha ki use main avashy hi poorn karoonga. gautam ne apane khet men dhan aur jaun lagaya tha. ganesh ji un atyant dubali-patali aur kamazor gay ka roop dharan kar un kheton men jakar fasalon ko charane lage. usi samay snyogavash dayalu gautam ji vahan pahunch gaye aur mutthi bhar khar-patavar lekar us gau ko hankane lage. un khar-patavaron ka sparsh hote hi vah durbal gau kanpati huee dharati par gir gee aur tatkal hi mar gayi.

ve dusht brahman aur unaki striyan chhipakar ukt sari ghatanaen dekh rahi thin. gau ke dharati par girate hi sabhi rishi gautam ke samane akar bol pade– ‘are , gautam ne yah kya kar dala?’ gautam bhi ashchary men doob gaye. unhonne ahalya se du:khapoorvak kaha– ‘devi! yah sab kaise ho gaya aur kyon hua? lagata hai, eeshvar mujh par kupit hain. ab main kahan jaoon aur kya karoon? mujhe to gohatya ke pap ne sparsh kar liya hai.’ is prakar pashchatap karate hue gautam ki un brahmanon tatha unaki patniyon ne ghor ninda ki, unhen apashabd kahe aur durvachanon dvara ahalya ko bhi pratadit kiya. unake shishyon tatha putron ne bhi gautam ko pun:-pun: dhikkara aur phatakara, jisase bechare gautam bhaynkar snkat aur santap ke sagar men gota lagane lage. brahmanon ne unhen dhikkarate hue kaha– ‘ab tum yahan se chale jao, kyonki tumhen yahan mukh dikhana ab thik nahin hai. gohatya karane vale ka mukh dekhane par tatkal sachail arthath vastr sahit snan karana padata hai. is ashram men tum jaise go hatyare ke rahate hue agni dev aur pitrigan (pitar) hamare havy-kavy (havan tatha pindadan) adi ko grahan nahin karenge. isalie papi hone ke karan tum bina deri kiye shighr hi parivar sahit kahin doosari jagah chale jao.

usake bad un dusht brahmanon ne galiyan dete hue sapatnik rishi gautam ko apamanit kiya aur un par dhele tatha pattharon se bhi prahar kiya. kasht aur manasik santap se bhi pidit gautam ne us ashram ko tatkal chhod diya. unhonne vahan se tin kilomitar ki doori par jakar apana ashram banaya. un brahmanon ne gautam ko tng karane hetu vahan bhi unaka pichha kiya. unhonne kaha– ‘jab tak tumhare oopar go hatya ka pap hai, tab tak tumhen kisi bhi vaidikadev athava pitriygy ke anushthan karane ka adhikar prapt nahin hai. isalie tumhen koee ygy-yagadi karm nahin karana chahie.’ muni gautam ne badi kathinaee aur du:kh ke sath pandrah dinon ko bitaya, kintu dharm-karm se vnchit hone ke karan unaka jivan doobhar ho gaya. unhonne un muniyon, brahmanon se gohatya ka prayashchit batane hetu bar-bar du:khi man se anunay-vinay ki.

unaki dinata par taras khate hue un muniyon ne kaha– ‘gautam! tum apane pap ko prakat karate hue arthath kiye gaye gohatya-sambandhi pap ko bolate hue tin bar prithvi ki parikrama karake phir ek mahine tak vrat karo. vrat ke bad jab tum is brahmagiri ki ek sau ek parikrama karoge, usake bad hi tumhari shuddhi hogi. brahmanon ne ukt prayashchit ka vikalp batalate hue kaha ki yadi tum gnga ji ko isi sthan par lakar unake jal men snan karo, tadanantar ek karod parthiv ling banakar mahadev ji ki upasana (parthiv poojan) karo, usake bad pun: gnga snan karake is brahmagiri parvat ki gyarah parikrama karane ke bad ek sau kalashon (ghadon) men jal bhar parthiv shivaling ka abhishek karo, phir tumhari shuddhi ho jaegi aur tum go hatya ke pap se mukt ho jaoge.’ gautam ne un rishiyon ki baton ko svikar karate hue kaha ki ve brahmagiri ki athava parthiv poojan karenge. tatpashchath unhonne ahalya ko sath lekar brahmagiri ki parikrama ki aur ativ nishtha ke sath parthiv lingon ka nirman kar mahadev ji ki aradhana ki.

muni gautam dvara atoot shraddha bhakti se parthiv poojan karane par parvati sahit bhagavan shiv prasann ho gaye. unhonne apane pramathaganon sahit prakat hokar kaha- ‘gautam! main tumhari bhakti se bahut prasann hoon. gautam shiv ke adbhut roop ko dekhakar anand vibhor ho uthe. unhonne bhaktibhav poorvak shiv ko pranam kar unaki lambi stuti ki. ve hath jodakar khade hue aur bhagavan shiv se bole ki ‘ap mujhe nishpap (paparahit) banane ki kripa karen.’ bhagavan shiv ne kaha– ‘tum dhany ho. tum men kisi bhi prakar ka koee pap nahin hai. snsar ke log tumhare darshan karane se paparahit ho jate hain. tum sada hi meri bhakti men lin rahate ho, phir papi kaise ho sakate ho? un dushton ne tumhare sath chhal-kapat kiya hai, tum par ghor atyachar kiya hai. isalie ve hi papi, hatyare aur durachari hain. un sab kritaghnon ka kabhi bhi uddhar nahin hoga, jo log un duratmaon ka darshan karegen ve bhi papi ban jaenge.’

bhagavan shiv ki bat sunakar rishi gautam ashcharyachakit ho uthe. unhonne shiv ko pun:-pun: pranam kiya aur kaha– ‘bhagavanh! unhonne to mera bada upakar kiya hai, ve maharshi dhany hain, kyonki unhonne mere lie param kalyanakari kary kiya hai. unake durachar se hi mera mahanh kary siddh hua hai. unake bartav se hi hamen apaka param durlabh darshan prapt ho saka hai.’ gautam ki bat sunakar bhagavan shiv atyant prasann hokar unase bole– vipravar! tum sabhi rishiyon men shreshth ho, main tum par atishay prasann hoon, isalie tum koee uttam var mang lo.’ rishi gautam ne mahesh ko bar-bar pranam karate hue kaha ki lok kalyan karane ke lie ap mujhe gnga pradan kijie. is prakar bolate hue gautam ne lokahit ki kamana se bhagavan shiv ke charanon ko pakad liya. tab bhagavan maheshvar ne prithvi aur svarg ke sarabhoot us jal ko nikala, jo brahma ji ne unhen unake vivah ke avasar par diya tha. vah param pavitr jal stri ka roop dharan karake jab vahan khada hua, to rishi gautam ne usaki stuti karate hue namaskar kiya. gautam ne gnga ki aradhana karake pap se mukti prapt ki. gautam tatha muniyon ko gnga ne poorn pavitr kar diya. vah gautami kahalayi. gautami nadi ke kinare trynbakam shivaling ki sthapana ki gee, kyonki isi shart par vah vahan thaharane ke lie taiyar huee thin.

gautam ne kaha– ‘sampoorn bhuvan ko pavitr karane vali gnge! narak men girate hue mujh gautam ko pavitr kar do.’ bhagavan shnkar ne bhi kaha– ‘devi! tum is muni ko pavitr karo aur vaivasvat manu ke atthaisaven kali yug tak yahin raho.’ gnga ne bhagavan shiv se kaha ki ‘main akeli yahan apana nivas banane men asamarth hoon. yadi bhagavan maheshvar ambika aur apane any ganon ke sath rahen tatha main sabhi nadiyon men shreshth svikar ki jaoon, tabhi is dharatal par rah sakati hoon.’ bhagavan shiv ne gnga ka anurodh svikar karate hue kaha ki ‘tum yahan sthit ho jao aur main bhi yahan rahoonga.’ usake bad vividh devata, rishi, anek tirth tatha sammanit kshetr bhi vahan a pahunche. un sabhi ne adarapoorvak gautam, gnga tatha bhootabhavan shiv ka poojan kiya aur prasannatapoorvak unaki stuti karate hue apana sir jhukaya. unaki aradhana se prasann gnga aur girish ne kaha – ‘shreshth devataon! ham tum logon ka priy karana chahate hain, isalie tum var mango.’

devataon ne kaha ki ‘yadi gnga aur bhagavan shiv prasann hain, to hamare aur manushyon ka priy karane ke lie ap log kripapoorvak yahin nivas karen. gnga ne uttar dete hue kaha ki ‘main to gautam ji ka pap kshalit kar vapas chali jaoongi, kyonki apake samaj men meri visheshata kaise samajhi jaegi aur us visheshata ka pata kaise lagega? sabaka priy karane hetu ap sab log yahan kyon nahin rahate hain? yadi ap log yahan meri visheshata siddh kar saken, to main avashy hi rahoongi.’ devataon ne bataya ki jab sinh rashi par brihaspati ji ka padarpan hoga, us samay ham sabhi akar yahan nivas karenge. gyarah varshon tak logon ka go-patak yahan kshalit hoga, us paparashi ko dhone ke lie ham log saritaon men shreshth ap gnga ke pas aya karenge. mahadevi! samast logon par anugrah karate hue hamara priy karane hetu tumhen aur bhagavan shnkar ko yahan par nity nivas karana chahie.’

mahaparv

devataon ne age bataya ki ‘guru (brihaspati) jab tak sinh rashi par yahan virajaman honge, tabhi tak ham log yahan nivas karenge. us samay ham log tumhare jal men tinon samay snan karake bhagavan shnkar ka darshan karate hue shuddh honge.’ is prakar rishi gautam aur devataon ke dvara prarthana karane par bhagavati gnga aur bhagavan shiv vahan avasthit ho gaye. tabhi se vahan gnga gautami (godavari) ke nam se prasiddh hueen aur bhagavan shiv ka jyotirling bhi tryambak nam se vikhyat hua. yah tryambak jyotirling samast papon ka kshay karane vala hai. usi din se jab-jab brihaspati ka sinh rashi par padarpan hota hai, tab-tab sabhi tirth, kshetr, devata, pushkar adi sarovar, gnga adi shreshth nadiyan, bhagavan vishnu adi devagan gautami ke tat par ate hain aur vahin nivas karate hain.

jitane dinon tak ve gautami ke tat par nivas karate hain, utane dinon tak unake moolasthan par koee phal nahin prapt hota hai. is prakar gautami tat par sthit is tryambak jyotirling ka jo manushy bhaktibhavapoorvak darshan poojan karata hai, vah samast papon se mukt ho jata hai. rishi gautam dvara poojit yah tryambak jyotirling is lok men manushy ke samast abhisht phalon ko pradan karata hai aur paralok men uttam moksh pad ko dene vala hai–
