kedareshvar (kedaranath) jyotirling ke prachin mandir ka nirman pandavon ne karaya tha, jo parvat ki 11750 phut ki oonchaee par avasthit hai. pauranik praman ke anusar ‘kedar’ mahish arthath bhainse ka pichhala ang (bhag) hai. kedaranath mandir ki oonchaee 80 phut hai, jo ek vishal chaukor chabootare par khada hai. is mandir ke nirman men bhoore rng ke pattharon ka upayog kiya gaya hai. sabase bade ashchary ki bat yah hai ki, yah bhavy mandir prachin kal men yantrik sadhanon ke abhav men aise durgam sthal par un vishal pattharon ko lakar kaise sthapit kiya gaya hoga? yah bhavy mandir pandavon ki shiv bhakti, unaki dridh ichchhashakti tatha unake bahubal ka jita jagata praman hai.

is mandir men uttam prakar ki karigari ki gee hai. mandir ke oopar stambhon men sahare lakadi ki chhatari nirmit hai, jisake oopar tanba madha gaya hai. mandir ka shikhar (kalash) bhi tanbe ka hi hai, kintu usake oopar sone ki paaulish ki gayi hai. mandir ke garbh grih men kedaranath ka svaynmabhoo jyotirling hai, jo anagadh patthar ka hai. yah lingamoorti char hath lambi tatha dedh hath moti hai, jisaka svaroop bhainse ki pith ke saman dikhaee padata hai. isake as-pas snkari parikrama bani huee hai, jisamen shraddhalu bhaktagan pradakshina karate hain. is jyotirling ke samane jal, phool, bilvapatr adi ko chadhaya jata hai aur isake doosare bhag men yatrigan ghi potate hain. bhakt log is lingamoorti ko apani banhon men bharakar bhagavan se milate bhi hain.

kedaranathaji ke mandir ke samane ek chhote mandir men 'udak kund' hai. is kund men bhi retasakund ke saman hi achaman lene ki pratha prachalit hai. is mandir ke pichhe mithe jal ka ek kund sthit hai, jisaka pani bhaktagan pite hain. shravan ke mahine men kedareshvar ki pooja gngajal, bilvapatr tatha brahmakamal ke phoolon se ki jati hai. kedaraghati ke is kshetr men pnchakedar (panch kedaranath) prasiddh hain, jinake sthan mandir aur shivalingon ka apana-apana vishesh mahattv hai. bhagavan kedaranath jyotirling ke avirbhav ke sambandh men shivamahapuran ki katha is prakar hai-

bhagavan vishnu ke nar aur narayan namak do avatar hue hain. nar aur narayan in donon ne pavitr himalay ke badarikashram men badi tapasya ki thi. unhonne parthiv (mitti) ka shivaling banakar shraddha aur bhaktipoorvak usamen virajane ke lie bhagavan shiv se prarthana ki. parthiv ling men shiv ke vidyaman hone par donon (nar v narayan) ne shastr-vidhi se unaki pooja-archana ki. pratidin nirantar shiv ka parthiv-poojan karana aur unake hi dhyan men magn rahana un tapasviyon ki snyamit dinacharya thi. bahut dinon ke bad unaki aradhana se santusht parameshvar shnkar bhagavan ne kaha ki main tum donon par bahut prasann hoon, isalie tum log mujhase var mango. bhagavan shnkar ki bat sunakar prasann nar aur narayan ne janakalyan ki bhavana se kaha- 'deveshvar! yadi ap prasann hain aur hamen var dena chahate hain, to ap apane svaroop se pooja svikar karane hetu sarvada ke lie yahin sthit ho jaie.'

jagat ka kalyan karane vale bhagavan shnkar un donon tapasvi-bandhuon ke anurodh ko svikarate hue himalay ke kedaratirth men jyotirling ke roop men sthit ho gaye. un donon anany bhakton se poojit ho sampoorn bhay aur du:kh ka nash karane hetu tatha apane bhakton ko darshan dene ki ichchha se kedareshvar mahadev ke nam se prasiddh bhagavan shiv vahan sada hi vidyaman rahate hain. bhagavan kedaranath darshan-poojan karane vale ko sukh-shanti pradan karate hain. nar-narayan ki tapasya ke adhar par virajane vale kedareshvar ki jisane bhi bhaktibhav se pooja ki, use svapn men bhi du:kh aur kasht ke darshan nahin hue. shiv ka priy bhakt kedaraling ke samip shiv ka svaroop ankit[2] kada chadhata hai, vah us valay se sushobhit bhagavan shiv ka darshan karake is bhavasagar se par ho jata hai arthath vah jivanamukt ho jata hai.

shiv mahapuran men ek any katha ka bhi snket prapt hota hai. usake anusar jab mahabharat-yuddh samapt ho gaya aur pandav vijayi ho gaye, us samay bharatavarsh ki virata mahabharat ke samar (yuddh) men vilin ho gee, yuddh ka parinam bhay़nkar hua kyonki kshatriy yoddhaon ka snhar ho gaya. kauravon ke sath-sath pandavon par bhi us yuddh ki zimmedari kam n thi yadyapi mahabharat ka yuddh nyay aur anyay ka sngharsh tha, kintu usaka dushparinam samooche rashtr ko bhugatana pada. yuddh samapt hone ke bad jab pandavon ne us par vichar manthan kiya, to ve du:kh se atyant vyakul ho uthe. unhonne svayn apane hi hathon apane sage-sambandhiyon tatha kul ke logon ka nash kar dala tha. pandavon ne atmakul-nash aur gotr-hatya ke pap se pichha chhudane hetu arthath mukti prapt karane hetu vedavyas ji se prayashchit ka vidhan janana chaha. vyas ji ne un pandavon ko bataya ki snsar men sabaka bhala hota dekha gaya hai, kintu apane vnsh ki hatya karane vale kulaghati ka kabhi kalyan nahin hota hai. unhonne kaha ki yadi tum log is pap se mukt hona chahate ho, to kedar kshetr men jakar bhagavan kedaranath ka darshan aur pooja karo. kedareshvar shivaling ke darshan ke bina tum logon ko mukti nahin milegi. kedar kshetr ka varnan karate hue vyas ji ne bataya ki jis kshetr men nadiyon men shreshth mndakini anek dharaon men vibhakt hokar bahati hai, jahan bhagavan mahesh, parvati ke sng apane saikadon mahanh vir ganon ke sath nivas karate hain aur unake darshanon ke lie karmanishth tapevrati brahma adi devata upasthit hote hain, jahan vividh prakar ke vady yantron ki dhvaniyan tatha vedon ki richaen anavarat sunayi padati hain, us mahapath nam se nirmit devasthan men tum log chale jao. vyas ji se nirdesh aur upadesh grahan kar prasannachitt pandav bhagavan shiv ke darshan hetu tirthayatra par nikal pade.

kedaranath ka ek drishy

pandav sarvapratham kashi ki yatra par shri vishvanath bholenath ka darshan karane hetu pahunche, kintu in kulaghati papiyon ko bhagavan shiv pratyaksh darshan nahin dena chahate the. isalie pandav nirash hokar shri vyas ji dvara nirdeshit kedar kshetr ki or mud gaye. inhen kedarakhand men ate dekh bhagavan shnkar guptakashi men jakar antardhan ho gaye. usake bad kuchh door aur age jakar mahadev ji ne ek bhainse ka roop dharan kiya aur vicharan karane lage. pandav dal ko is prakaran ka gyan akashavani ke dvara ho gaya. jab bhagavan shiv ne pandavon ke man ki bat jan li, tab ve bhainsa roopi shiv bhoomigat hone ke lie daladali dharati men dhnsane lage. mahanh balashali aur parakrami bhim ne bhainsa roopi shiv ki poonchh pakad li. isi paristhiti men any sabhi pandav karunapoorvak krandan karate hue vividh prakar se bhagavan bholenath shri kedareshvar ki stuti karane lage.

unaki shraddha-bhakti aur stuti se ashutosh bhagavan shiv prabhavit hokar un par prasann ho gaye. un pandavon ki prarthana par bhainsa ke prishthabhag (pith) ke yap men sarvada ke lie shnkar ji vahin sthit ho gaye, jinaki pooja pandavon ne vidhipoorvak ki. vahan par bhi pandavon ko nabh vani sunaee padi– 'pandavon! meri is pooja se tumhare sakal manorath siddh ho jaengen.' shiv ko bhainsa ke prishth ke roop men poojan kar pandav gotr hatya ke pap se mukt ho gaye. isi katha ke adhar par kedar ghati men panch sthanon par panch kedar ka darshan-poojan karane ka prachalan hai.

bhainsa roopi shiv ke angon ke adhar par ye kedar-sthan is prakar hain–

  1. kedaranath pramukh tirth men bhainsa ki pith ke roop men.
  2. madhy maheshvar men usaki nabhi ke yap men.
  3. tunganath men usaki bhujaen aur hriday ke roop men.
  4. rudranath men mukh ke roop men aur
  5. kalpeshvar men jataon ke roop men pratishthit hain.

uttarakhnd ke in pancho kedaron ke darshan ka vishesh mahattv hai. yahan ek boodha kedar bhi hain. inake sambandh men kaha jata hai ki jab pandav tirthayatra par nikale the, to unhonne bhagavan shiv ke darshan hetu boodha kedar men jakar darshan kiya tha. shiv ke bhainsa roop ka varnan jo pandavon se sambandhit hai, shiv mahapuran ke koti rudr snhita men is prakar kiya gaya hai–

skand puran men yatra ka mahatmay

bhagavan shnkar ko mndakini, gnga, madhugnga, kshir gnga adi nadiyon se sinchit aur saikadon shivalingon se sushobhit tatha himakhandon se achchhadit yah kedar kshetr atishay priy hai. skand puran ki katha ke anusar man parvati ke dvara kedar kshetr ki mahima poochhane par bhagavan shiv ne unhen bataya ki yah kshetr adhik priy hone ke karan ve ise kabhi nahin chhodate hain. unhonne parvati ji se kaha ki mainne jab srishti-kary ke lie brahmaji ka roop dharan kiya tha, tabhi se parabrahm ko jitane ke lie main is kshetr men sarvada nivas karata hoon. is kshetr ke dvar par nandi, bhringi adi prahari (dvarapal) banakar khade rahate hain. jo manushy apane nivas par rahate hue is kedar yatra ka vichar karata hai, isake lie karyakram banata hai, usake tin sau pidhiyon ke pitar shiv lok men nivas prapt karate hain. jo vyakti man, vani aur karm se mere prati samarpit hokar shri kedaranath ji ka darshan karata hai, to yadi use brahmahatya ke saman bhi pap laga ho, ve sab darshanamatr se hi nasht ho jate hain. jaise devataon men bhagavan vishnu, sarovaron men samudr, nadiyon men gnga, parvaton men himalay, bhakton men narad, gooon men kamadhenu aur sabhi puriyon men kailash shreshth hai, vaise hi sampoorn kshetron men kedar kshetr sarvashreshth hai.

skand puran ki katha

is prakar kedar kshetr ke bakhan men anandit bhagavan shnkar ne mata gauri ko ek katha sunaee. unhonne kaha ki ek ganv men ek hinsak 'baheliya'([5] rahata tha. use mrigon ka mans bahut priy tha aur mansahari hone ke karan vah durachar bhi bahut karata tha. vah pratidin mrigon ka shikar karata tha aur unhen apana ahar bana leta tha. ek din vah shikar ke silasile men kedaratirth men pahunch gaya. jab vah saghan jngalon se hokar shikar ki khoj men parvaton par vicharan kar raha tha, tab use muni narad dikhaee diye jinako svarn mrig samajh liya, kyonki vah bahut door se unhen dekh raha tha. usane apane dhanush par ban chadha liya. jab vah rishi narad ko ban se marane ke lie udyat hua, tab tak sooryast ho chala tha.

kedaranath mandir

us samay us bahelie ne vahan dekha ki ek sanp mendhak ko nigal gaya hai, kintu vah mrityu prapt medhak shiv ke svaroop men ho gaya. jab vah kuchh door aur age gaya, to dekha ki us bagh ne hiran ko mar dala hai, kintu vah hiran shiv ganon ke sath shivalok men ja raha hai. in sab drishyon ko dekhakar vah baheliya bhramit aur chakit ho utha. itane men rishi narad ji us baheliye ke pas pahunch gaye. manushy ke roop men narad ko apane pas aya dekh us shikari ne uparyukt ghatit ghatanaon ke sambandh men unase janane ki ichchha prakat ki. narad muni ne usase kaha ki tum bahut saubhagyashali ho, jo is param pavitr tirth men padhare ho. jaisa ki tumane dekha hai, is kalyanakarak shubh tirth men nikrisht jiv bhi tumhare dekhate-dekhate shivatattv ko prapt ho gaye hain.

usake bad us bahelie (vyadh) ne ghor ashchary men padakar munishreshth narad ke charanon men dandavat pranam kiya. usane apane uddhar hetu narad ji se badi vinati ki. narad ji ne bhagavan shiv ke sambandh men use upadesh tatha nirdesh diya. unake upadeshanusar vah shikari usi kedar kshetr ka nivasi ban gaya aur kedareshvar bhagavan ke bhajan-chintan men ram gaya. ghor hinsa karane vala vah baheliya kedaranath ki bhakti karane se ant men param gati (mukti) ko prapt hua.

skand puran men mahish roopadhari bhagavan shiv ki ek bhinn katha bhi ati hai. kedar kshetr men devaraj indr ne bhagavan shnkar ki tapasya ki thi. us prakaran men mahabalashali daity hiranyaksh utpann hua tha. us daity ne yuddh men devataon ke raja indr ko parajit kar svarg par apana adhikar jama liya tha. parajit indr ne devataon sahit devadhidev mahadev ki shraddha-bhakti poorvak aradhana ki. unaki tapasya se ashutosh bhagavan shiv prasann ho uthe. ve ek din mahish (bhainsa) ka roop dharan karake indr ke samaksh hi dharati se nikal pade. unhonne kaha- ‘devendr! main is roop men kis-kis ko pani men phenkakar vidirn kar daloon, arthath mar daloon?’ bhagavan shiv ke dvara aisa poochhane par indr ne hiranyaksh sahit panch rakshason ka nam bataya. indr dvara bataye gaye un balashali panch daityon ke sthan par bholenath shiv gaye.

vahan par un daityon ke any bhi bhaynkar parakrami sathi vidyaman the. ve sabhi astr-shastr lekar bhainsa roopi shiv ki or daud pade, jinhen mahadev ji ne apani singon se mar-marakar jal men duboya aur yamalok pahuncha diya. usake bad unhonne indr se var mangane ke lie kaha. indr ne pinakadhari shiv se prarthana karate hue kaha ki ap dharm tatha tinon lokon ki raksha karane ke lie isi kshetr men sarvada nivas karen. bhagavan shiv ne indr ki yachana ko svikar kar liya. indr se shiv ji ne poochha – ‘ke darayami?’ yahan ‘kn jalamh’ arthath ‘kamh’ jal ko kaha jata hai aur usaka adhikaran karak men roop banata hai 'ke'. isi prakar ‘chhidir-bhidir vidarane’ dhatu se ‘vidarayami’ arthath phad daloon aisa vaky taiyar hota hai. isaka tatpary yah hai ki, jal men phenkakar mar (vidirn) dalata hoon. indr ne bhagavan shiv se kaha ki apane ‘ke darayami’ aisa vaky prayog kiya hai, isilie is kshetr ka nam ‘kedar’ shabd se prasiddh hoga.

snchalan hetu mndir samiti

shri kedaranath aur shri badarinath ke mandiron ke snchalan hetu pradesh ki sarakar ne mandir-samiti banaee hai. mandir-samiti ke madhyam se mandiron ka snchalan hota hai tatha unake ay-vyay aur sarv prakar ki vyavastha ka dayitv usi par hota hai. am janata dvara mandiron men pooja, bhog-rag, arati adi karavane hetu mandir-samiti ne dakshina (shulk) nirdharit kiya hai. dakshin bharat ke raval (brahman) mandir ke pramukh pujari hote hain. mandir ke sabhi karmachariyon ko samiti dvara vetan diya jata hai.

darshan ka samay

  • kedaranath ji ka mandir am darshanarthiyon ke lie prat: 7:00 baje khulata hai.
  • dopahar ek se do baje tak vishesh pooja hoti hai aur usake bad vishram ke lie mandir band kar diya jata hai.
  • pun: sham 5 baje janata ke darshan hetu mandir khola jata hai.
  • panch mukh vali bhagavan shiv ki pratima ka vidhivat shrringar karake 7:30 baje se 8:30 baje tak niyamit arati hoti hai.
  • ratri 8:30 baje kedareshvar jyotirling ka mandir band kar diya jata hai.
  • shitakal men kedaraghati barf se dhnk jati hai. yadyapi kedaranath-mandir ke kholane aur band karane ka muhoort nikala jata hai, kintu yah samanyat: navambar mah ki 15 tarikh se poorv (vrishchik snkranti se do din poorv) band ho jata hai aur chh: mah bad arthath vaishakhi (13-14 aprail) ke bad kapat khulata hai.
  • aisi sthiti men kedaranath ki pnchamukhi pratima ko ‘ukhimath’ men laya jata hain. isi pratima ki pooja yahan bhi raval ji karate hain.
  • kedaranath men janata shulk jama karakar rasid prapt karati hai aur usake anusar hi vah mandir ki pooja-arati karati hai athava bhog-prasad grahan karati hai.

pooja ka kram

bhagavan ki poojaon ke kram men prat:kalik pooja, mahabhishek pooja, abhishek, laghu rudrabhishek, shodashopachar poojan, ashtopachar poojan, sampoorn arati, pandav pooja, ganesh pooja, shri bhairav pooja, parvati ji ki pooja, shiv sahastranam adi pramukh hain. mandir-samiti dvara kedaranath mandir men pooja karane hetu janata se jo dakshina (shulk) liya jata hai, usamen samiti samay-samay par parirvatan bhi karati hai.

uttarakhand ke charon dham ki yatra men pahale yamunotri ki yatra ka vidhan hai. gngotri, yamunotri tirthon ke bad bhaktagan kedaranath ka darshan karate hain, phir ant men badrinath jate hain. gngotri se kedaranath jane ke lie do motar marg hain. pratham marg gngotri se bhairoghati, harasil, bhatavadi, uttarakashi, dharasoo, tihari, ghanasali, chirabatiya, agastyamuni, guptakashi, phota, sonaprayag, gaurikund tatha garudachatti hokar kedaranath pahunchata hai. is raste ki kul doori 348 kilomitar baithati hai. gngotri se kedaranath jane ke lie ek doosara marg bhi hai, jisaki kul doori 343 kilomitar padati hai. gngotri se bhairavaghati, uttarakashi, dharasoo, tihari, shrinagar, rudraprayag, tilavada aur gauri kund hote hue kedaranath pahuncha jata hai.

  • kotadvar se dugadda, paudi, shrinagar, guptakashi aur gaurikund hokar kedaranath jane ka bhi marg hai.
  • rudraprayag 171 kilomitar padata hai, jabaki rudraprayag se gaurikund ki doori 70 kilomitar.
  • guptakashi ki oonchaee samudratal se 1479 mitar hai.
  • kedaranath ke lie yatriyon ko gochar se helikaptar-seva bhi upalabdh hai. kisi bhi marg se yatra ki jaye, kintu gaurikund chaudah kilomitar paidal chalakar hi kedaranath pahunchana padata hain.

  • gaurikund men himalay kanya gauri (parvati) ne bhagavan shnkar ko pati ke roop men prapt karane hetu tap kiya tha. kathor niyam vali gauri kamazor-sharir ho gayi thin aur sardi ke karan vyathit thin. vahan bhagavan rudr ne agni ke roop men prakat hokar jal ko garm kar diya tha, jisamen gauri ne snan kiya. aj bhi tirthayatri us taptakund men snan karake shri kedaranath ke darshan ke lie jate hain.
  • gauri kund par hi mata ne ganesh ji ko janm diya tha. yahan vainayiki (mundakata) mandir aj bhi vidyaman hai.

bhagavan shri kedareshvar jyotirling ka mandir ek suramy prakriti ki shobha hai, usake mang ka sindoor hai. niche mndakini ka kal-kal ninad, oopar pahadon par barf ki safed chadaren, us rat ko chhitakati chandrama ki shital chandani, mndir ke ghnta ghadiyal ka madhur sngit, vedamantron ke ghosh aur bich-bich men har-har mahadev tatha ‘nam: shivay’ ki dhvani, rom-rom men sakshat shivalok ka anubhav karati hai.

kedaranath men mndakini ki kal-kal dharaen bhagavan shiv ke kadamon ko choomakar yahan age badhati hain lekin 16 joon ko kedaranath ke charon taraph maujood parvat shrinkhalaon se khauphanak sailab ki ahat sunaee padi. badal phatane se huee jabaradast barish ka kahar kedaranath par toota. hal ye hai ki kedaranath ke pas ramabada bazar poori tarah bah gaya. chashmadidon ka dava hai ki kedaranath mndir ka mukhy dvar bhi pani ke tej bahav ki chapet men ane se bah gaya. ek pratyakshadarshi ne bataya ki log so rahe the, kuchh pooja kar rahe the, ghoom rahe the tabhi achanak bahut bhari matra men pichhe se patthar, malaba, pani aya. ye itani teji se aya ki koee kuchh samajh pata usase pahale hi ve malabe ki chapet men a ge. ye malaba bich-bazar se gujara. sirph mndir dikh raha hai baki pichhe ke hotal, laauj, mndir ka mukhy dvar sab pani men bah ge. kee log malabe ke niche dabe aur unake bachane ki koee snbhavana nahin lagati. ek praty़kshadarshi ne bataya ki kedaranath ek shmashan ghat men badal gaya hai. jab sailab aya to ek bada patthar akar mndir ke pichhe lag gaya, isase mndir to surakshit bach gaya, lekin age-pichhe-daen-baen kuchh bhi nahin bacha. sailab ka sitam khatm hua to tabahi aur vinash ke bich bas mndir hi bacha raha. kedaranath ke bad gaurikund men bhi bhari tabahi huee hai. kedaranath, gaurikund aur ramabada men jan-mal ka kitana nukasan hua hai. isaka andaja bhale hi abhi nahin lag paya ho lekin yahan bhari tabahi huee hai. isase koee inakar nahin kar sakata.
