kaha jata hai ki isi sthan par shriramachndraji ne lnka ke abhiyan ke poorv shiv ki aradhana karake unaki moorti ki sthapana ki thi. vastav men yah sthan uttar aur dakshin bharat ki snskritiyon ka sngam hai. puranon men rameshvaramh ka nam gndhamadan hai. mannar dvip uttar se dakshin tak lagabhag gyarah aur poorv se pashchim tak lagabhag sat mil chauda hai. basti ke poorv samudr tat par lagabhag 900 phut lnbe aur 600 phut chaude sthan par rameshvaramh ka mndir bana hai. isake chaturdikh parakota hai jisaki oonchaee 22 phut hai. isamen tin or ek-ek aur poorv ki or do gopur hai. pashchim ka gopur sat khana hai aur lagabhag sau phut ooncha hai. any gopar ardhanirmit avastha men hai aur divar se adhik oonche nahin hai. rameshvaramh ka mukhy mndir 120 phut ooncha hai. tin praveshadvaron ke bhitar shiv ke prakhyat dvadash jyotirlingon men se ek yahan sthit hai. moorti ke oopar sheshanag apane phanon se chhaya karate hue pradarshit hain. rameshvaramh ke mndir ki bhavyata usake sahasron stnbhon vale baramade ke karan hai. yah 4000 phut lnba hai. lagabhag 690 phut ki avyavahit doori tak in stnbhon ki lagatar pnktiyan dekhakar jis bhavy tatha anokhe drishy ka ankhon ko gyan hota hai vah avismaraniy hai. bharatiy vastu ke vidvanh fargusan ke mat men rameshvaramh-mndir ki kala men dravid shaili ke sarvottam saundary tatha usake doshon donon hi ka samavesh hai. unaka kahana hai ki tnjaur ka mndir yadyapi rameshvaramh mndir ki apeksha vishalata tatha sookshm takshan ki drishti se uttamata se usaka dashamansh bhi nahin hai kintu snpoorn roop se dekhane par usase adhik prabhavashali jan padata hai. rameshvaramh ke nikat lakshmanatirth, ramatirth, ramajharokha (jahan shriram ke charanachihn ki pooja hoti hai), sugriv adi ullekhaniy sthan hai. rameshvaramh se char mil par mngalatirth aur isake nikat biluni tirth hain. rameshvaramh se thodi hi door par jata tirth namak kund hai jahan kindavati ke anusar ramachandr ji ne lnka yuddh ke pashchath apane keshon ka prakshalan kiya tha. rameshvaramh ka shayad ramaparvat ke nam se 'mahabharat' men ullekh hai.[1]

jyotirling ki sthapana

setubandh-rameshvaram tirth v jyotirling ke avirbhav ke sambandh men is prakar bataya jata hai–maryada purushottam bhagavan ram ne svayn apane hathon se shri rameshvar jyotirling ki sthapana ki thi. aisa bataya jata hai ki shriram ne jab ravan ke vadh hetu lnka par chadhaee ki thi, to yahan pahunchane par vijay shri ki prapti hetu unhonne samudr ke kinare baluka (ret) ka shivaling banakar usaki pooja ki thi. aisa bhi bataya jata hai ki rameshvaram men pahunchakar bhagavan shriram jal pi rahe the. usi samay akashavani sunayi padi– ‘tum meri pooja kiye bina hi jal pi rahe ho?’ tab shriram ne lnka par vijay prapti ke lie ashirvad prapt kiya. shriram dvara prarthana kiye jane par lok kalyan ki bhavana se jyotirling ke roop men sada ke lie vahan nivas karana bhagavan shnkar ne svikar kar liya. shriram ne vidhi-vidhan se shivaling ki sthapana ki aur unaki pooja karane ke bad shiv ka yashogan kiya.

yatra ka kram

yatra ka shastriy kram yah hai ki yatri ko pahale uppoor men jakar ganesh ji ka darshan karana chahie. ramanathapuram se 20 mil uttar yah gram hai. yahan shriram dvara sthapit shrivinayak ka mndir hai.

devipattan- uppoor ke pashchath devipattan jana chahie. ramanathapur se yah 12 mil door hai. shriram ne yahan navagrah sthapan kiya tha. setubndh yahin se prarnbh hua, atah yah mool setu hai. yahin devi ne mahishasur ka vadh kiya tha. yahan dharm ne tap karake shiv-vahanatv prapt kiya hai. unake dvara nirmit dharm pushkarini hai. maharshi galav ki yah tapobhoomi hai. yahan samudr ke samip dharm pushkarini sarovar hai. samudr uthala hai. usamen nau patthar ke chhote stambh hain. ye navagrah ke pratik hain. sarovar men snan karake tab samudr men inaki parikrama ki jati hai. yahan kuchh doori par mahish mardini devi ka mndir tatha bazar men shiv mndir hai.

darbhashayanam- devipattan ke pashchath darbhashayan jakar samudr men snan tatha mndir men darshan karana chahie. yah sthan ramanathapuram se 6 mil door hai. yahan se samudr 3 mil age hai. mndir ke pas hi dharmashala hai. mndir men darbh par soye hue shriram ki moorti hai. yah vishal hai. mndir ki parikrama men kee moortiyan hain. samudr tat par hanuman ji ka mndir hai. ramanathapuram se yatri ko pamban jakar bhairav tirth men snan karana chahie. vidhi to isake pashchath dhanushkoti jane ki hai; kintu dhanushkoti tirth samudri toophan men nasht ho gaya. vaise vahan jane ka marg ab bhi hai. vahan samudr men 36 bar snan tatha baluka pind dekar tab rameshvar jana chahie.

  • sakshi vinayak— yah mndir pamban marg par do mil door sthit hai. kaha jata hai ki shriram ne yahan jatayen dhoyin thin.
  • sitakund— yah kund rameshvaram se 5 mil door sthit hai. yahan samudr tat par mithe jal ka koop hai.
  • ekantaram mndir— rameshvaram se 4 mil doori par yah mndir sthir hai. yahan shrivigrah batachit ki mudra men hai.
  • amman devi mndir— rameshvaram se do mil par navanam ki amman devi ka mndir hai. yahin ke jalashay se rameshvaram ke nalon men jal ata hai.
  • kodandaramasvami— yah rameshvar se 5 mil uttar ki or samudr tat par hai. ret ke maidan men paidal marg hain. yahan shriram ne vibhishan ko tilak kiya tha.
  • villoorani tirth— tnkachchimatham steshan ke poorv samip hi samudr jal ke bich men mithe pani ka sota hai. yah ek kund hai. samudr men bhate ke samay yah tirth milata hai. sitaji ko pyas lagane par raghunathaji ne dhanush ki nok se prithvi ko dabaya to jal nikal aya[2].

sthapana ke snbndh men prachalit ek katha

rishiyon ki sabha men uparyukt nirnay hone ke bad shriram ne mahavir hanuman ko adesh diya ki ap kailash se ling lekar aie. shri hanuman shighr hi kailas parvat par pahunch gaye, kintu vahan shiv ka darshan nahin mila. hanuman ji ne kailas par darshan pane hetu bhagavan shiv ka dhyanapoorvak tap kiya. unaki aradhana se prasann shiv ji ne unhen darshan diya. usake bad shnkar ji se ling prapt kar ve pun: gandhamadan par vapas a gaye. is prakriya men hanuman ji ko kafi der lag gee. idhar jyeshth mas ke shukl paksh ki dashami tithi budhavar ke din shivaling ki sthapana ka atyant uttam muhoort nirdharit tha. muhoort ke bit jane ki ashnka se tatha samay par ling lekar hanuman ji ke n pahunchane ke karan rishiyon ne muhoort ke anusar shriram se ling-sthapana karane ki prarthana ki. punyakal ka vichar karate hue janaki ji dvara vidhipoorvak baloo ka hi ling banakar usaki sthapana kar di gee.

mahavir hanuman ji ne dekha ki ling sthapana ho chuki hai, to unhen bada kasht hua aur ve shriram ke charanon men gir pade. bhaktavatsal bhagavan shriram ne snehapoorvak hanuman ji ki pith par hath pherate hue unake ane se pahale hi ling sthapana ho jane ka karan samajhaya. karan batane par bhi jab hanuman ji ko poorn santushti nahin huee, to shriram ne kaha ki tum is sthapit ling ko ukhad do aur main tumhare dvara laye gaye ling ko usake sthan par sthapit kar deta hoon. shriram ki bat sunakar hanuman ji prasannata se khil uthe. ve us sthapit ling ko ukhadane ke lie jhapat pade. ling ka sparsh karane se unhen bodh hua ki ise ukhadana samany kary nahin hai. vah baloo ka ling vajr ban gaya tha, jisako ukhadane ke lie hanuman ji ne apani sari taqat laga di, kintu sab shram vyarth gaya. ant men unhonne apani lambi poonchh men us ling ko lapet liya aur kilakariyan marate hue zor se khincha, phir bhi vah tas se mas nahin hua. shri hanuman ji use ukhadane ke lie zor lagate rahe aur ant men svayn dhakka khakar tin kilomitar door jakar gir pade tatha kafi samay tak moorchchhit pade rahe. unake munh adi angon se rakt bahane laga, jise dekhakar shriramachandr ji sahit sabhi upasthit log vyakul ho uthe.

mata sita unake sharir par hath pherati huee sneh ke karan rone lagin. bahut der bad hanuman ji ki moorchchha door ho saki. jab hanuman ji ki drishti shriram ke angon par padi to unhen sakshat parabrahm ke roop men darshan prapt hua. hanuman ji ko badi atmaglani (pashchattap) huee aur ve jhat se shriram ji ke charanon par pad gaye. unhonne bhav vihval hokar bhagavan shriram ki stuti ki. shriram ne unhen samajhate hue kaha ki tum se bhool ho gee, jisake karan tumhen itana kasht mila. unhonne bataya ki unake dvara sthapit is shivaling ko duniya ki sari shakti milakar bhi nahin ukhad sakati hai. tumhare dvara mahadev ji ka aparadh hua hai, jisake karan tumhen kasht jhelana pada hai. age, aisi bhool nahin karana.’

apane bhakt hanuman par kripa karate hue bhagavan shriram ne unake dvara kailas se laye gaye ling ko bhi vahin samip men hi sthapit kar diya, jisase hanuman ji ko badi prasannata huee. shriram ne hi us ling ka nam ‘hanumadishvar’ rakha. rameshvar tatha hanumadishvar shivaling ki prashnsa bhagavan shriram ne svayn ki hai–

arthat ‘bhagavan shnkar ke dvara pradatt hanuman namak ling ka darshan karane se manushy ka jivan dhany ho jata hai. jo koee manushy hazar yojan ki doori se bhi yadi hanumadishvar aur shriramanatheshvar-ling ka smaran aur bhav poorvak chintan karata hai, vah shivasayujy (shiv ki samipata ya shivalok ki prapti) namak mukti ko prapt kar leta hai. is ling ki mahima ka bakhan karate hue kaha gaya hai ki jisane hanumadishvar aur shriramanatheshvar ling ka darshan kar liya hai, manon usane sabhi prakar ke ygy tatha tap ko kar liya hai.’

chaubis kuen

shraddh tirth

shri rameshvaram se lagabhag tis kilomitar ki doori par dhanushkoti nam sthan hai. yahan arab sagar aur hind mahasagar ka sngam hone ke karan shraddhatirth manakar pitrikarm karane ka vidhan hai. yahan lakshmanatirth men bhi mundan aur shraddh karane ka prachalan hai. is sthan par samudr men snan karane ke bad ardhyadan kiya jata hai. yahan ke gandhamadan parvat par ‘ramajharokhe’ nam sthan hai. is ramajharokhe se samudr tatha shriramasetu ke darshan karane ka vishesh mahatmy (mahima) bataya gaya hai. shriram setu ke madhy men bahut se tirth bane hue hain, jiname pramukh tirthon ke nam is prakar hai– chakratirth, vetalavarad, papavinashan, sitasar, mngalatirth, amritavatika, brahmakund, agastyatirth, jayatirth, lakshmitirth, agnitirth, shukatirth, shivatirth, kotitirth, sadhyamritatirth tatha manasatirth adi. bhagavan shri rameshvar jyotirling ko gngotri ka gngajal vishesh priy hai. shivabhakton ki yah pratha uttar aur dakshin bharat ki yatra karakar rashtriy akhandata ko mazaboot karati hai.

bhagavan shri vishnu ke ramavatar men ravan sita ji ka apaharan kar apani rajadhani lnka men le gaya. us samay shriram sugriv ke sath atharah padm vanari sena lekar samudr ke kinare a gaye. ve samudr tat par yah chintan karane lage ki kis prakar samudr ko par kar lnka pahuncha jaye aur ravan par vijay prapt ki jay. isi chintan ke dauran shriram ko pyas lagi, to unhonne pine ke lie jal manga. vanaron ne pine yogy mitha jal lakar shriram ko diya aur shriram ne jal ko prasannatapoorvak le liya. us jal ko pine se pahale hi unhen khyal aya ki mainne apane svami bhagavan shnkar ka darshan nahin kiya hai. aisi sthiti men darshan kiye bina main jal kaise grahan kar sakata hoon? is prakar vichar kar shriram ne jal grahan nahin kiya. usake bad raghunandan ne parthiv ling ke poojan ka ayojan kiya unhonne sab prakar se poojan ki samagri snkalit karayi aur shodashopachar (solah prakar) se vidhipoorvak bhagavan shnkar ki archana vandana ki–

shriram ne kaha– ‘uttam vrat ka palan karane vale mere svami mahadev! ap meri sahayata karen. apaki sahayata ke bina mere kary ki siddhi hona atyant kathin hai. ravan bhi apaka bhakt hai, kintu vah sabhi ke lie sab prakar se durjay hai arthat use jita nahin ja sakata.

ek to vah tribhuvan vijayi atyant shaktishali mahavir hai, doosara apase uttam varadan prapt kar lene ke karan ahnkar men choor rahata hai. main bhi apaka das hoon, jo sarvatha (pratyek dasha men) apake adhin rahane vala hoon arthat apaki ichchha ka hi anusaran karata hoon. sadashiv! ap vicharapoorvak mera kalyan karen, apako meri sahayata karani chahie, kyonki yah pakshapat uchit nahin hai.’

is prakar shriram ne bhagavan shiv ki prarthana ki aur ‘jay shivashnkar’ adi ka jayaghosh ke bad unhonne bhagavan shiv ko poornataya santusht karane ke lie apana gal bajakar kuchh avyakt (aspasht) shabd kiya. unaki archana vandana se prasann bhagavan shiv jyotirmay maheshvar ke roop men apane vamabhag men parvati ko liye, apane sabhi parshadon ke sath divyaroop dharan kie hue vahan tatkal prakat ho gaye–

shriram ki bhakti se maheshvar bhagavan shiv ativ prasann ho uthe. unhonne kaha– ‘shriram! tumhara kalyan ho, var mango.’ angon sahit bhagavan shiv ke divy darshan ko prapt kar vahan upasthit sab log pavitr ho gaye. shiv dharm ke rahasy ko janane vale shriram ne pun: shastr vidhi se unaka poojan kiya. usake bad unhonne shivaji se prarthana ki aur lnka men ravan ke sath hone vale yuddh men apane lie vijayashri ki mang ki. prasann bhagavan maheshvar ne kaha– ‘maharaj! tumhari jay ho.’ is prakar bhagavan shiv se vijay soochak var tatha yuddh ki agya shriram ne prapt kar li. usake bad vinamr bhav se hath jodakar unase pun: prarthana ki. unhonne kaha– ‘svami shivashnkar! yadi ap mujh par bhali bhanti santusht hain, to snsar ke logon ka kalyan karane ke lie ap hamesha yahin nivas karen.’

bhagavan shiv shriram ki prarthana svikar kar vahan jyotirling ke roop men sthit ho gaye. usake bad snsar men rameshvar jyotirling ke nam se unaki prasiddhi huee. unake hi kripa-prasad se athah samudr ko shriram ne anayas hi par kar liya aur ravan adi rakshason ka snhar karake apani priy sita ko bhi prapt kar liya. tabhi se is prithvi par rameshvar sarvatha bhog aur moksh ke pradata hain tatha apane bhakton ki sabhi kamanaon ko poora karate hain.

jo manushy param pavitr gngajal se bhaktipoorvak rameshvar shiv ka abhishek karata hai athava unhen snan karata hai, vah sakshat jivan mukt ho jata hai. vah is snsar men devadurlabh sampoorn bhogon ka upabhog karane ke bad us gyan ko prapt kar ant men kaivaly (moksh) ko prapt kar leta hai. gosvami tulasidas ji ne apane ramacharitamanas men likha hai ki bhagavan shriram ne samudr ke kinare rameshvar jyotirling ki sthapana karake svayn shastr vidhi se pooja ki. isalie is jyotirling ki vishesh mahima hai. bhagavan shriram ne svayn apane mukh se bakhan karate hue kaha–

je ramesvar darasanu karihahin.
te tanu taji mam lok sidharihahin..
jo gngajalu ani chadhaihi.
so sajujy mukti nar paihi..
hoee akam jo chhal taji seihi.
bhagati mori tehi snkar deihi..

kaise pahunche

yah sthan dakshin bharat ke samudr tat par avasthit hai. yahan mahasagar aur bngal ki khadi ka sngam hota hai. desh ke prasiddh mahanagar dilli, mumbee, kolakata adi se rameshvaram jane ke lie chennee (madras) jana padata hai. chennee se dakshin relave marg se trichinapalli hote hue rameshvaram pahuncha jata hai.
