bhadrapad mas ke krishn paksh ke pndrah din pitri paksh ('pitri' athava 'pita') ke nam se jane jate hai. in pndrah dinon men log apane pitaron (poorvajon) ko jal dete hain tatha unaki mrityu tithi par shraddh adi sampan karate hain. pitaron ke lie kie jane vale shraddh do tithiyon par kie jate hain. pratham mrityu ya kshay tithi par aur doosara 'pitri paksh' men. jis mas aur tithi ko pitri ki mrityu huee hai athava jis tithi ko unaka dah snskar hua hai, varsh men us tithi ko 'ekodisht shraddh' kiya jata hai. pita-mata adi parivarik manushyon ki mrityu ke pashchath‌ unaki tripti ke lie shraddhapoorvak kie jane vale karm ko 'pitri shraddh' kahate hain.

pitri paksh ke shraddh yani 16 shraddh sal ke aise sunahare din hain, jinamen vyakti shraddh prakriya men shamil hokar uparokt tinon rinon se mukt ho sakata hai. mahabharat ke prasng ke anusar, mrityu ke uparant karn ko chitragupt ne moksh dene se inakar kar diya tha. karn ne kaha ki- "mainne to apani sari sampada sadaiv dan-puny men hi samarpit ki hai, phir mere oopar yah kaisa rin bacha hua hai? chitragupt ne javab diya ki- "rajan, apane dev rin aur rishi rin to chuka diya hai, lekin apake upar abhi pitririn baki hai. jab tak ap is rin se mukt nahin honge, tab tak apako moksh milana kathin hoga." isake uparant dharmaraj ne karn ko yah vyavastha di ki ap 16 din ke lie punah prithvi par jaie aur apane gyat aur agyat pitaron ka shraddh-tarpan tatha pindadan vidhivat karake aie. tabhi apako moksh yani svarg lok ki prapti hogi.

pramukh shraddh sthal

jo log dan shraddh, tarpan adi nahin karate, mata-pita aur bade bujurgo ka adar satkar nahin karate, pitrigan unase hamesha naraj rahate hain. isake karan ve ya unake parivar ke any sadasy rogi, du:khi aur manasik aur arthik kasht se pidit rahate hai. ve niahsntan bhi ho sakate hain. athava pitridosh ke karan unako snntan ka sukh bhi durlabh rahata hai. bharat ki pavan bhoomi men aise kee sthan hain, jahan aise bhoole-bhatake log pitridosh ki nivritti ke lie anushthan kar sakate hain. jaise ki bihar men gaya ke ghat par, gngasagar tatha maharashtr men tryambakeshvar, hariyana men pihova, uttar pradesh men gadagnga, uttarakhnd men haridvar bhi pitri dosh ke nivaran ke lie shraddhakarm ko arnbh karane hetu upayukt sthal hain. in sthalon men jakar ve shraddhalu bhi pitri paksh ke shraddh arnbh kar sakate hain, jinhonne pahale kabhi bhi shradgh n kiya ho. vaise to pitri paksh ke shraddh ki mahima apar hai, lekin jo bhi shraddhalu apane divngat pita, mata dada, paradada, nana, nani adi ka in 16 shraddhon men vrat upavas rakhakar brahman ko bhojan karakar dakshina adi dete hain, unake ghar lakshmi aur vishnu bhagavan sadaiv hi bane rahate hain. arthath ve sadaiv hi dhan dhany se paripoorn rahate hain.[2]

shraddh tithiyan

shraddh karane ka sidha snbndh pitaron yani divngat parivarikajanon ka shraddhapoorvak kie jane vala smaran hai, jo unaki mrityu ki tithi men kiya jata hain. arthath pitar pratipada ko svargavasi hue hon, unaka shraddh pratipada ke din hi hoga. isi prakar any dinon ka bhi, lekin vishesh manyata yah bhi hai ki pita ka shraddh ashtami ke din aur mata ka navami ke din kiya jae. parivar men kuchh aise bhi pitar hote hain, jinaki akal mrityu ho jati hai, yani durghatana, visphot, hatya ya atmahatya athava vish se. aise logon ka shraddh chaturdashi ke din kiya jata hai. sadhu aur sannyasiyon ka shraddh dvadashi ke din aur jin pitaron ke marane ki tithi yad nahin hai, unaka shraddh amavasya ke din kiya jata hai. jivan me yadi kabhi bhoole-bhatake mata-pita ke prati koee durvyavahar, nindaniy karm ya ashuddh karm ho jae to pitri paksh men pitaron ka vidhipoorvak brahman ko bulakar doob, til, kusha, tulasidal, phal, meva, dal-chaval, poori v pakavan adi sahit apane divngat mata-pita, dada-taoo, chacha, paradada, nana-nani adi pitaron ka shraddhapoorvak smaran karake shraddh karane se sare hi pap kat jate hain. yah bhi dhyan rahe ki ye sabhi shraddh pitaron ki divngat yani mrityu ki tithiyon men hi kie jaen. yah manyata hai ki brahman ke roop men pitri paksh men die hue dan puny ka phal divngat pitaron ki atma ki tushti hetu jata hai. arthath brahman prasann to pitrijan bhi prasann rahate hain. apatr brahman ko kabhi bhi shraddh karane ke lie amntrit nahin karana chahie. 'manusmriti' men isaka khas pravadhan hai.

pitri paksh ki sabhi pndrah tithiyan shraddh ko samarpit hain. atah varsh ke kisi bhi mah evn tithi men svargavasi hue pitaron ka shraddh usi tithi ko kiya jana chahie. pitri paksh men 'kutap vela' arthath madhyahn ke samay (dopahar sadhe़ barah se ek baje tak) shraddh karana chahie. pratyek mah ki amavasya pitaron ki puny tithi mani jati hai, kintu ashvin krishn paksh ki amavasya pitaron hetu vishesh phaladayak hai. is amavasya ko pitrivisarjani amavasya athava mahalaya bhi kaha jata hai. isi tithi ko samast pitaron ka visarjan hota hai. jin pitaron ki puny tithi gyat nahin hoti athava kinhin karanavash jinaka shraddh pitri paksh ke pndrah dinon men nahin ho pata, unaka shraddh, dan, tarpan adi isi tithi ko kiya jata hai. is amavasya ko sabhi pitar apane-apane sage-sambandhiyon ke dvar par pindadan, shraddh evn tarpan adi ki kamana se jate hain, tatha in sabake n milane par shap dekar pitrilok ko prasthan kar jate hain.[3]

shraddh karate log

shraddh se pahale shraddhakarta ko ek din pahale upavas rakhana hota hai, jise habik kahate. agale din nirdharit mrityu tithi ko aparahn men gajachhaya ke bad shraddh tarpan tatha bahman bhoj karaya jata hai. manyata hai ki pitri paksh ke dauran pitar dopahar bad shraddhakarta ke ghar pakshi/kauve ya chidiya ke roop me ate hain. atah shraddhakarm kabhi bhi subah ya ek baje se pahale nahin karana chahie, kyonki tab tak divngat pitar anupasthit rahate hain. kuchh log bhojan pakakar bina pind diye hi mandir men thali de ate hain. isase bhi mritatma ki shanti nahin hoti aur shraddhakarta ko shraddh ka puny nahin milata.[2]

bhojy padarth

shraddh ke din lahasun, pyaj rahit satvik bhojan ghar ki rasoee men banana chahie, jisamen udad ki dal, bade, chaval, doodh-ghi se bane pakavan, khir, mausami sabji jo bel par lagati hai, jaise- toree, lauki, sitaphal, bhindi, kachche kele ki sabji adi hi bhojan me many hai. aloo, mooli, baingan, arabi tatha jamin ke niche paida hone vali sabjiyan pitaro ko nahin chadhati hain. shraddh ke lie taiyar bhojan ki tin-tin ahutiyon aur tin-tin chaval ke pind taiyar karane ke bad 'pretamnjari' ke mntrochchar ke bad gyat aur agyat pitaron ko nam aur rashi se sambodhit karake amntrit kiya jata hai. kusha ke asan men bithakar gngajal se snan karakar til, jau aur safed rng ke phool aur chandan adi samarpit karake chaval ya jau ke ate ka pind adi samarpit kiya jata hai. phir unake nam ka naiveddh rakha jata hai.

sntanahin ka shraddh

shraddh karane ke lie 'manusmriti' aur 'brahmavaivartapuran' jaise sabhi pramukh shastron men yahi bataya gaya hai ki divngat pitaron ke parivar men ya to jyeshth putr ya kanishth putr aur agar putr n ho to dhevata (nati), bhatija, bhanja ya shishy hi tilanjali aur pindadan dene ke patr hote hain. kee aise pitar bhi hote hain, jinake putr sntan nahin hoti hai ya phir jo sntanahin hote hain. aise pitaron ke prati adar poorvak agar unake bhaee, bhatije, bhanje ya any chacha-taoo ke parivar ke purush sadasy pitri paksh men shraddhapoorvak vrat rakhakar pindadan, annadan aur vastradan karake brahmanon se vidhipoorvak shraddh karate hain to pidit atma ko moksh milata hai.

stri ke lie shraddh ka adhikar

ek mukhy bat aur hai ki "kya vibhinn parivarik paristhitiyon men mahilaen bhi shraddh kar sakati hai ya nahin". is prashn ko bhi uthaya jata raha hai. parivar ke purush sadasy ya putr-pautr adi nahin hone par kee bar kanya ya dharmapatni ko bhi mritak ke antim snskar karate ya marane ke bad varshi shraddh karate dekha gaya hai. paristhitiyo ke anusar yah ek antim vikalp hi hai, jo ab dhire-dhire chalan men ane laga hai. is mamale men 'dharmasindhu' sahit 'manusmriti' aur 'garudapuran' adi granth bhi mahilaon ko pindadan adi karane ka adhikar pradan karate hain. aj ke samay men shnkaracharyon ne bhi is prakar ki vyavasthaon ko tark sngat bataya hai ki shra़ddh karane ki parnpara jivit rahe aur log apane pitaron ko nahin bhoolen. antim snskar men bhi mahila apane parivar/pitar ko mukhagni de sakati hai. maharashtr sahit kee uttari rajyo men ab putr/pautr nahin hone par patni, beti, bahin ya natin ne bhi sabhi mritak snskar karane arnbh kar diye hain. kashi adi ke kuchh gurukul adi ki snskrit ved pathashalaon men to kanyaon ko panndity karm aur ved pathan adi karane ka prashikshan diya ja raha hai, jisamen mahilaon ko shraddh karane aur karane ka prashikshan bhi diya jata hai.[2]

  • vaidik parnpara ke anusar mahilaen ygy anushthan, snkalp aur vrat adi to rakh sakati hain, lekin shraddh ki vidhi ko svayn nahin kar sakati hain. vidhava stri agar sntanahin ho to apane pati ke nam shraddh ka snkalp rakhakar brahman ya purohit parivar ke purush sadasy se hi pindadan adi ka vidhan poora karava sakati hai. isi prakar jin pitaron ke kanyaen hi vnsh parnpara men hain to unhen pitaron ke nam vrat rakhakar usake damad ya dhevate, nati adi brahman ko bulakar shraddhakarm ki nivritti kara sakate hain. sadhu-santon ke shishyagan ya shishy vishesh shraddh kar sakate hain.

puran aur smritigrnthon ke anusar

kisi bhi mritak ke 'antim snskar' aur shraddhakarm ki vyavastha ke lie prachin vaidik granth 'garudapuran' men kaun-kaun se sadasy putr ke nahin hone par shraddh kar sakate hai, usaka ullekh adhyay gyarah ke shlok sakhya- 11, 12, 13 aur 14 men vistar se kiya gaya hai, jaise-

putrabhave vadhu kooryat ..bharyabhave ch sodanah.
shishyo va brahmanah sapindo va samacharet॥
jyeshthasy va kanishthasy bhratriahputrashchah pautrake.
shradhyamatradikam kary pu.trahinet khagah॥

arthath "jyeshth putr ya kanishth putr ke abhav men bahoo, patni ko shraddh karane ka adhikar hai. isamen jyeshth putri ya ekamatr putri bhi shamil hai. agar patni bhi jivit n ho to saga bhaee athava bhatija, bhanaja, nati, pota adi koee bhi yah kar sakata hai. in sabake abhav men shishy, mitr, koee bhi rishtedar athava kul purohit mritak ka shraddh kar sakata hai. is prakar parivar ke purush sadasy ke abhav men koee bhi mahila sadasy vrat lekar pitaron ka shraddh v tarpan aur tilanjali dekar moksh kamana kar sakati hai.[2]

sita dvara pindadan

'valmiki ramayan' men sita dvara pindadan dekar dasharath ki atma ko moksh milane ka sndarbh ata hai. vanavas ke dauran bhagavan ram, lakshman aur sita pitri paksh ke dauran shraddh karane ke lie gaya dham pahunche. vahan shraddh karm ke lie avashyak samagri jutane hetu ram aur lakshman nagar ki or chal die. udhar dopahar ho gee thi. pindadan ka samay nikalata ja raha tha aur sita ji ki vyagrata badhati ja rahi thi. aparahn men tabhi dasharath ki atma ne pindadan ki mang kar di. gaya ke age phalgu nadi par akeli sitaji asamnjas men pad gee. unhonne phalgoo nadi ke sath vat vriksh, ketaki ke phool aur gay ko sakshi manakar baloo ka pind banakar svargiy raja dasharath ke nimitt pindadan de diya. thodi der men bhagavan ram aur lakshman laute to unhonne kaha ki samay nikal jane ke karan mainne svayn pindadan kar diya.

bina samagri ke pindadan kaise ho sakata hai? isake lie ram ne sita se praman manga. tab sitaji ne kaha ki- "yah phalgoo nadi ki ret ketaki ke phool, gay aur vat vriksh mere dvara kie ge shraddhakarm ki gavahi de sakate hain." itane men phalgoo nadi, gay aur ketaki ke phool tinon is bat se mukar ge. sirph vat vriksh ne sahi bat kahi. tab sita ne dasharath ka dhyan karake unase hi gavahi dene ki prarthana ki.

dasharath ne sita ki prarthana svikar kar ghoshana ki ki ain vakt par sita ne hi mujhe pindadan diya hai. is par ram ashvast hue, lekin tinon gavahon dvara jhooth bolane par sitaji ne unako krodhit hokar shrap diya ki phalgoo nadi, too sirph nam ki nadi rahegi, tujhamen pani nahin rahega. is karan phalgoo nadi aj bhi gaya men sookhi rahati hai. gay ko shrap diya ki too poojy hokar bhi logon ka jootha khaegi aur ketaki ke phool ko shrap diya ki tujhe pooja men kabhi nahin chadhaya jaega. vat vriksh ko sitaji ka arshivad mila ki use lnbi ayu prapt hogi aur vah doosaron ko chhaya pradan karega tatha pativrata stri tera smaran karake apane pati ki dirghayu ki kamana karengi. yahi karan hai ki gay ko aj bhi jootha khana padata hai, ketaki ke phool ko pooja-path men varjit rakha gaya hai aur phalgoo nadi ke tat par sitakund men pani ke abhav men aj bhi sirph baloo ya ret se pindadan diya jata hai.[2]

dhyan rakhane yogy tathy

shraddhakarm men kuchh vishesh baton ka dhyan rakha jata hai, jaise-

  • shraddh ke din pavitr bhav se pitaron ke lie bhojan banavaen aur shraddh karm sampann karen.
  • madhyahn men kush ke asan par svayn baithen aur brahman ko bhi bithaen. ek thali men gay, kutta aur kauve ke lie bhojan rakhen. doosari thali men pitaron ke liye bhojan rakhen. in donon thali men bhojan saman hi rahega. sabase pahale ek-ek karake gau, kutta aur kauve ke lie anshadan karen aur usake bad apane pitaron ka smaran karate hue nimn mntr ka tin bar jap karen-

"Om devabhy: pitribhyashch mahayogibhy ev ch.
nam: svadhayai svahayai nityamev bhavantu te.."

  • yadi ukt vidhi ko karana kisi ke lie snbhav n ho, tab vah jal ko patr men kale til dalakar dakshin disha ki or munh karake tarpan kar sakata hai.
  • yadi ghar men koee bhojan banane vala n ho, to phal aur mishthan adi ka dan kar sakate hain.[4]

  • jin vyaktiyon ki samany mrityu chaturdashi tithi ko huee ho, unaka shraddh keval pitri paksh ki trayodashi athava amavasya ko kiya jata hai. jin vyaktiyon ki akal-mrityu (durghatana, sarpadnsh, hatya, atmahatya adi) huee ho, unaka shraddh keval chaturdashi tithi ko hi kiya jata hai. suhagin striyon ka shraddh keval navami ko hi kiya jata hai. navami tithi mata ke shraddh ke lie bhi uttam hai. snnyasi pitriganon ka shraddh keval dvadashi ko kiya jata hai. poornima ko mrityu prapt vyakti ka shraddh keval bhadrapad shukl paksh ki poornima athava ashvin men krishn paksh ki amavasya ko kiya jata hai. nana-nani ka shraddh keval ashvin shukl paksh ki pratipada ko kiya jata hai.
  • pitaron ke shraddh ke lie 'gaya' ko sarvottam mana gaya hai, ise "tirthon ka pran" tatha "panchava dham" bhi kahate hai. mata ke shraddh ke lie kathiyavad men 'siddhapur' ko atyant phaladayak mana gaya hai. is sthan ko 'matrigaya' ke nam se bhi jana jata hai. gaya men pita ka shraddh karane se pitririn se tatha siddhapur men mata ka shraddh karane se matririn se sada-sarvada ke lie mukti prapt hoti hai.
  • shraddh men amntrit brahman ke pair dhokar adar sahit asan par baithana chahie tatha tarjani se chndan-tilak lagana chahie. shraddhakarm men adhik se adhik tin brahman paryapt mane gaye hain. shraddh ke lie bane pakavan taiyar hone par ek thali men panch jagah thode-thode sabhi pakavan parosakar hath men jal, akshat, pushp, chandan, til le kar pnchabali (gay, kutta, kaua, devata, pipilika) ke lie snkalp karana chahie. pnchabali nikalakar kaua ke nimitt nikala gaya ann kaua ko, kutte ka ann kutte ko tatha any sabhi ann gay ko dena chahie. tatpashchath brahmanon ko bhojan karana chahie. brahman bhojan ke pashchath unhen ann, vastr, tambool (pan ka bida) evn dakshina adi dekar tilak kar charanasparsh karana chahie. brahmanon ke prasthan uparant parivar sahit svayn bhi bhojan karana chahie.
  • shraddh ke lie shalin, shreshth gunon se yukt, shastron ke gyata tatha tin pidhi़yon se vikhyat brahman ka hi chayan karana chahie. yogy brahman ke abhav men bhanaje, dauhitr, damad, nana, mama, sale adi ko amntrit kiya ja sakata hai. shraddh ke lie amntrit brahman ki jagah kisi any ko nahin khilana chahie. shraddhabhokta ko bhi pratham nimntran ko tyagakar kisi any jagah nahin jana chahie. bhojan karate samay brahman ko maun dharan kar bhojan karana chahie tatha hath ke snket dvara apani ichchha vyakt karani chahie.
  • vikalang athava adhik angon vala brahman shraddh ke lie varjit hai. shraddhakarta ko sampoorn pitri paksh men dataun karana, pan khana, tel lagana, aushadh-sevan, kshaurakarm (mundan evn hajamat) maithun-kriya (stri-prasng), paraye ka ann khana, yatra karana, krodh karana evn shraddhakarm men shighrata varjit hai. mana jata hai ki pitri paksh men maithun (rati-krida) karane se pitaron ko viryapan karana padata hai.
  • shraddhakarta ko pratidin poorn brahmachary ka palan karate hue snan ke bad tarpan karana chahie. shraddhakarm men dauhitr (putri ka putr), kutap (madhyanhah ka samay), kale til evn kush atyant pavitr mane gaye hai. sndhya aur ratri ke samay shraddh nahin karana chahie, kintu grahan kal men ratri ko bhi shraddh kiya ja sakata hai. gaya, gnga, prayag, kurukshetr tatha any pramukh tirthon men shraddh karane se pitar sarvada santusht rahate hain. shraddhakarm men shraddha, shuddhata, svachchhata evn pavitrata par vishesh dhyan dena chahie, inake abhav men shraddh nishphal ho jata hai. shraddhakarm se pitaron ko shanti evn moksh ki prapti hoti hai tatha prasann evn tript pitaron ke arshivad se hamen sukh, samriddhi, saubhagy, arogy tatha anand ki prapti hoti hai.[3]
