ramacharitamanas (angrezi:Ramcharitmanas) tulasidas ki sabase pramukh kriti hai. isaki rachana snvat 1631 ee. ki ramanavami ko ayodhya men prarambh huee thi kintu isaka kuchh ansh kashi (varanasi) men bhi nirmit hua tha, yah isake kishkindha kand ke prarambh men ane vale ek sorathe se nikalati hai, usamen kashi sevan ka ullekh hai. isaki samapti snvat 1633 ee. ki margashirsh, shukl 5, ravivar ko huee thi kintu ukt tithi ganana se shuddh nahin thaharati, isalie vishvasaniy nahin kahi ja sakati. yah rachana avadhi boli men likhi gayi hai. isake mukhy chhand chaupaee aur doha hain, bich-bich men kuchh any prakar ke bhi chhandon ka prayog hua hai. pray: 8 ya adhik arddhaliyon ke bad doha hota hai aur in dohon ke sath kadavak snkhya di gayi hai. is prakar ke samast kadavakon ki snkhya 1074 hai.

ramacharitamanas charit-kavy

'ramacharitamanas' ek charit-kavy hai, jisamen ram ka sampoorn jivan-charit varnit hua hai. isamen 'charit' aur 'kavy' donon ke gun saman roop se milate hain. is kavy ke charitanayak kavi ke aradhy bhi hain, isalie vah 'charit' aur 'kavy' hone ke sath-sath kavi ki bhakti ka pratik bhi hai. rachana ke in tinon roopon men usaka vivaran is prakar hai-

'ramacharitamanas' ki katha snkshep men is prakar hai-
dakshon se lnka ko jitakar rakshasaraj ravan vahan rajy karane laga. usake anacharon-atyacharon se prithvi trast ho gayi aur vah devataon ki sharan men gayi. in sab ne milakar hari ki stuti ki, jisake uttar men akashavani huee ki hari dasharath-kaushalya ke putr ram ke roop men ayodhya men avatar grahan karenge aur rakshason ka nash kar bhoomi-bhar haran karenge. is ashvasan ke anusar chaitr ke shukl paksh ki navami ko hari ne kaushalya ke putr ke roop men avatar dharan kiya. dasharath ki do raniyan aur thin- kaikeyi aur sumitra. unase dasharath ke tin aur putron-bharat, lakshman aur shatrughn ne janm grahan kiya.

vishvamitr ke ashram men ram

kuchh hi dinon bad jab dasharath ne ram ke virah men sharir tyag diya, bharat nanihal se bulaye gaye aur unhen ayodhya ka sinhasan diya gaya, kintu bharat ne use svikar nahin kiya aur ve ram ko vapas lane ke lie chitrakoot ja pahunche, jahan us samay ram nivas kar rahe the kintu ram ne lautana svikar n kiya. bharat ke anurodh par unhonne apani charan-padukaen unhen de din, jinhen ayodhya lakar bharat ne sinhasan par rakha aur ve rajy ka kary dekhane lage. chitrakoot se chalakar ram dakshin ke jngalon ki or badhe. jab ve pnchavati men nivas kar rahe the ravan ki ek bhagini shoorpanakha ek manohar roop dharan kar vahan ayi aur ram ke saundary par mugdh hokar unase vivah ka prastav kiya. ram ne jab ise asvikar kiya to usane apana bhaynkar roop prakat kiya. yah dekhakar ram ke snketon se lakshman ne usake nak-kan kat liye. is prakar kuroop ki huee shoorpanakha apane bhaiyon-khar aur dooshan ke pas gayi aur unhen ram se yuddh karane ko prerit kiya. khar-dooshan ne apani sena lekar ram par akraman kar diya kintu ve apani samast sena ke sath yuddh men mare gaye. tadanantar shoorpanakha ravan ke pas gayi aur usane use sari ghatana sunayi. ravan ne marich ki sahayata se, jise vishvamitr ke ashram men ram ne yuddh men ahat kiya tha, sita ka haran kiya, jisake parinamasvaroop ram ko ravan se yuddh karana pada.

ram aur ravan yuddh

is paristhiti men ram ne kishkindha ke vanaron ki sahayata li aur ravan par akraman kar diya. is akraman ke sath ravan ka bhaee vibhishan bhi akar ram ke sath ho gaya. ram ne angad nam ke vanar ko ravan ke pas doot ke roop men antim bar savadhan karane ke lie bheja ki vah sita ko lauta de, kintu ravan ne apane abhiman ke bal se ise svikar nahin kiya aur ram tatha ravan ke dalon men yuddh chhid gaya. us mahayuddh men ravan tatha usake bandhu-bandhav mare gaye. tadanantar lnka ka rajy usake bhaee vibhishan ko dekar sita ko sath lekar ram aur lakshman ayodhya vapas aye. ram ka rajyabhishek kiya gaya aur dirghakal tak unhonne prajarnjan karate hue shasan kiya. is mool katha ke poorv 'ramacharitamanas' men ravan ke kuchh poorvabhavon ki tatha ram ke kuchh poorvavarti avataron ki kathaen hain, jo snkshep men di gayi hai. katha ke ant men garud aur kag bhushundi ka ek vistrit snvad hai, jisamen anek prakar ke adhyatmik vishayon ka vivechan hua hai. katha ke prarambh hone ke poorv shiv-charitr, shiv-parvati snvad, yagyvalaky-bharadvaj snvad tatha kag bhushundi-garud snvad ke roop men katha ki bhoomikaen hain. aur unake bhi poorv kavi ki bhoomika aur prastavana hai.

ramacharitamanas

'charit' ki drishti se yah rachana paryapt saphal huee hai. isamen ram ke jivan ki samast ghatanaen avashyak vistar ke sath ek poorvakar ki kathaon se lekar ram ke rajy-varnan tak kavi ne koee bhi prasngik katha rachana men nahin ane di hai. is sambandh men yadi valmikiy tatha any adhikatar ram-katha granthon se 'ramacharitamanas' ki tulana ki jay to tulasidas ki visheshata pramanit hogi. any ramakatha granthon men bich-bich men kuchh prasngik kathaen dekhakar anek kshepakakaron ne 'ramacharitamanas' men prakshipt prasng rakhe aur kathaen milayin, kintu ram-katha ke pathakon ne unhen svikar nahin kiya aur ve rachana ko mool roop men hi padhate aur usaka parayan karate hain. charit-kavyon ki ek badi visheshata unaki sahaj aur prayasahin shaili mani gayi hai, aur is drishti se 'manas' ek atyant saphal charit hai. rachana bhar men tulasidas ne kahin bhi apana kavy kaushal, apana pandity, apani bahugyta adi ke pradarshan ka koee prayas nahin kiya hai. sarvatr ve apane varny vishay men itane tanmay rahe hain ki unhen apana dhyan nahin raha. rachana ko padhakar aisa lagata hai ki ram ke charit ne hi unhen vah vani pradan ki hai, jisake dvara ve sundar kriti ka nirman kar sake.

utkrisht mahakavy

'kavy' ki drishti se 'ramacharitamanas' ek ati utkrisht mahakavy hai. bharatiy sahity-shastr men 'mahakavy' ke jitane lakshan diye gaye hain, ve usamen poorn roop se paye jate hain.

  • katha-prabandh ka sargabaddh hona ,
  • uchchakul sambhoot dhirodatt nayak ka hona,
  • shrringar, shant aur vir rason men se kisi ek ka usaka lakshy hona adi sabhi lakshan usamen milate hain. pashchaty sahityalochan men 'ipik' ki jo vibhinn avashyakataen batalayi gayi hain, yatha- usaki katha ka kisi gauravapoorn atit se sambaddh hona, atiprakrit shaktiyon ka usaki katha men bhag lena, katha ke ant men kinhin adarshon ki vijay ka chitrit hona adi, sabhi 'ramacharitamanas' men paee jati hain. is prakar kisi bhi drishti se dekha jay to 'ramacharitamanas' ek atyant utkrisht mahakavy thaharata hai. mukhyat: yahi karan hai ki snsar ki mahanh kritiyon men ise bhi sthan mila hai.

tulasidas ki bhakti

tulasidas ki bhakti ki abhivyakti bhi isamen atyant vishad roop men huee hai. apane aradhy ke sambandh men unhonne 'ramacharitamanas' aur vinay-patrika' men anek bar kaha hai ki unake ram ka charitr hi aisa hai ki jo ek bar use sun leta hai, vah anayas unaka bhakt ho jata hai. vastav men tulasidas ne apane aradhy ke charitr ki aisi hi kalpana ki hai. yahi karan hai ki isane samast uttari bharat par sadiyon se apana adbhut prabhav dal rakha hai aur yahan ke adhyatmik jivan ka nirman kiya hai. ghar-ghar men 'ramacharitamanas' ka path pichhali sadhe tin shatabdiyon se barabar hota a raha hai. aur ise ek dharm granth ke roop men dekha jata hai. isake adhar par ganv-ganv men prativarsh ramalilaon ka bhi ayojan kiya jata hai. phalat: jaisa videshi vidvanon ne bhi svikar kiya hai. uttari bharat ka yah sabase lokapriy granth hai aur isane jivan ke samast kshetron men uchchashayata lane men saphalata prapt ki hai.

lokapriy granth

yahan par svabhavat: yah prashn uthata hai ki tulasidas ne ram tatha unake bhakton ke charitr men aisi kaun-si vilakshanata upasthit ki hai, jisase unaki is kriti ko itani adhik lokapriyata prapt huee hai. tulasidas ki is rachana men anek durlabh gun hain kintu kadachit apane jis mahanh gun ke karan isane yah asadharan samman prapt kiya hai, vah hai aisi manavata ki kalpana, jisamen udarata, kshama, tyag, nivairata, dhairy aur sahanashilata adi samajik shivatv ke gun apani parakashtha ke sath milate hon aur phir bhi jo avyavaharik n hon. 'ramacharitamanas' ke sarvapramukh charitr-ram, bharat, sita adi isi prakar ke hain. udaharan ke lie ram aur kaushalya ke charitron ko dekhate hain-

  • 'valmiki ramayan' men ram jab vanavas ka du:snvad sunane kaushalya ke pas ate hain, ve kahate hain: 'devi, ap janati nahin hain, apake lie, sita ke lie aur lakshman ke lie bada bhay aya hai, isase ap log du:khi honge. ab main dandakarany ja raha hoon, isase ap log dukhi honge. bhojan ke nimitt baithane ke lie rakhe gaye is asan se mujhe kya karana hai? ab mere lie kusha asan chahiye, asan nahin. nirjan van men chaudah varsho tak nivas karoonga. ab main kand mool phal se jivika chalaoonga. maharaj yuvaraj ka pad bharat ko de rahe hain aur tapasvi vesh men mujhe arany bhej rahe hai' [2].
  • 'adhyatm ramayan' men ram ne is prasng men kaha hai, 'mata mujhe bhojan karane ka samay nahin hai, kyonki aj mere lie yah samay shighr hi dandakarany jane ke lie nishchit kiya gaya hai. mere saty-pratigy pita ne mata kaikeyi ko var dekar bharat ko rajy aur mujhe ati uttam vanavas diya. vahan muni vesh men chaudah varsh rahakar main shighr hi laut aoonga, ap kisi prakar ki chinta n karen.'[3]
  • 'ramacharitamanas' men yah prasng is prakar hai-

"matri vachan suni ati anukoola. janu saneh surataroo ke phoola..

sukh makarand bhare shriy moola. nirakhi ram man bhnvaroo n bhoola..

dharam dhurin dharam gani jani. kaheu matri san amrit vani..

pita dinh mohin kanan rajoo. jahn sab bhanti mor bad kajoo..

ayasu dehi mudit man mata. jehin mud mngal kanan jata..

jani saneh bas darapati more. abahun amb anugrah tore..'[4]

tulanatmak adhyayan

yahan par darshaniy yah hai ki tulasidas 'valmiki-ramayan' ke ram ko grahan n kar 'adhyatm ramayan' ke ram ko grahan kiya hai. valmiki ke ram men bharat ki or se apane snehi svajanon ke sambandh men jo anisht ki ashnka hai, vah 'adhyatm ramayan' ke ram men nahin rah gayi hai aur tulasidas ke ram men bhi nahin ane payi hai kintu isi prasng men pita ki agya ke prati lakshman ke vidroh ke shabdon ko sunakar ram ne snsar ki anityata aur dehadi se atma ki bhinnata ka ek lamba upadesh diya hai[5], jis par unhonne mata se nity vichar karane ke lie anurodh kiya hai, 'he mat:! tum bhi mere is kathan par nity vichar karana aur mere phir milane ki pratiksha karati rahana. tumhen adhik kal tak du:kh n hoga. karm-bandhan men bndhe hue jivon ka sada ek hi sath rahana-sahana nahin hua karata, jaise nadi ke pravah men padakar bahati huee dongiyan sada sath-sath hi nahin chalati'[6].

tulasidas ji bhagavan ram, lakshman aur hanuman ji ko ramacharitamanas ka path sunate hue.

vyavaharikata

tulasidas is adhyatmavad ki duhaee n dekar apane adarshavad ko avyavaharik hone se bacha lete hain. ve ram ko ek dharm-nishth nayak ke roop men hi chitrit karate hain, jo pita ki agya ka palan karana apana ek param punit kartavy samajhata hai, isalie unhonne kaha hai:

'dharam dhurin dharam gatijani.
kaheu matu san ati mridu bani..'

doosara prasng

vanavas ke du:kh snvad ko jab ram sita ko sunane jate hain,

  • 'valmikiy ramayan' men ve kahate hain: "main nirjan van men jane ke lie prastut hua hoon aur tumase milane ke lie yahan aya hoon. tum bharat ke samane meri prashnsa n karana, kyonki samriddhivan log doosaron ki stuti nahin sah sakate, isalie bharat ke samane tum mere gunon ka varnan n karana. bharat ke ane par tum mujhe shreshth n batalana, aisa karana bharat ke pratikool acharan kaha jayega aur anukool rahakar hi bharat ke pas rahana sambhav ho sakata hai. paramparagat rajy raja ne bharat ko hi diya hai: tumako chahiye ki tum use prasann rakho, kyonki vah raja hai" [7]
  • 'adhyatm ramayan' men is prasng men ram ne itana hi kaha hai, he shubhe! main shighr hi usaka prabandh karane ke lie vahan jaoonga. main aj hi van ko ja raha hoon. tum apani sasoo ke pas jakar unaki seva-shushrusha men raho. main jhooth nahin bolata....he anaghe! maharaj ne prasannatapoorvak kaikayi ko var dekar bharat ko rajy aur mujhe vanavas diya hai. devi kaikeyi ne bharat ko rajy aur mujhe vanavas diya hain. devi kaikeyi ne mere lie chaudah varsh tak van men rahana manga tha, so satyavadi dayalu maharaj ne dena svikar kar liya hai. at: he bhamini! main vahan shighr hi jaoonga, tum isamen kisi prakar ka vighn n khada karana.[8]
  • 'ramacharitamanas' men is prakar sita se vida lene gaye hue ram nahin dikhalaye jate hain, isamen sita svayn kaushalya ke pas us samay vanavas ka samachar sunakar a jati hain, jab ram kaushalya se van gaman ki agya lene ke lie ate hain aur sita ki ram ke sath van jane ki ichchha samajhakar kaushalya hi ram se unaki ichchha ka nivedan karati hain. 'adhyatm ramayan' men hi bharat ke prati kisi prakar ki ashnka aur sandeh ke bhav ram ke man men nahin chitrit kiye gaye, 'ramacharitamanas' men bhi ram ke usi udar vyaktitv ko ankit kiya gaya hai.

bharat prem

tulasidas ram ke charitr men bharat prem ka ek adbhut vikas karate hain, jo any ram-katha granthon men nahin milata. udaharanarth-

  • chitrakoot men ram ke rahan-sahan ka varnan karate hue ve kahate hai-

"jab-jab ram avadh sudhi karahin. tab-tab bari bilochan bharahin.
sumiri matu pitu parijan bhaee. bharat saneh sil sevakaee.
kripasindhu prabhu hohin dukhari. dhiraj dharahin kusamay bichari॥'[9]

  • bharat ke agaman ka samachar sunakar lakshman jab ram ke anisht ki ashnka se unake viruddh uttejit ho uthate hain, ram kahate hain-

'kahin tat tumh niti sunaee. sabaten kathin rajamad bhaee॥
jo anchavat matahin nripateee. nahinn sadhu samajihin seee॥
sunahu lashan bhal bharat sarikha. vidhi prapnch mahn suna n disha॥
bharatahin hoee n raj mad, vidhi harihar pad pai. kabahun ki kanji sikarani chhir sindhu binasai॥
timir taroon tarinihi maku gilee. gagan magan maku meghahi milee॥
gopad jal boodati ghat joni. sahaj kshama baroo chhadi chhoni॥
masak phoonk maku meroo udaee. hoi n nrip pad bharatahi bhaee॥
lashan tumhar sapath pitu ana. suchi subandhu nahin bharat samana॥
sagun kshir avagun jal tata. mili rachi parapnch vidhata॥
bharat hns ravi bns tadaga. janami linh gun shesh vibhaga॥
gahi gun pay taji avagun bari. nij jas jagat kinh ujiyari॥
kahat bharat sun sil subhaoo. prem payodhi magan raghuraoo॥"[10]

  • chitrakoot men bharat ki vinay sunane ke lie kiye gaye vashishth ke kathan par ram kah uthate hain-

"guru anurag bharat par dekhi. ram hriday anand viseshi॥
bharatahin dharam dhurandhar jani.. nij sevak tan manas bani॥
bole guru ayasu anukoola. bachan mnju mridu mngal moola॥
nath sapath pitu charan dohaee. bhayu n bhuvan bharat san bhaee॥
jo guru par anbuj anuragi. te lok hoon vedahun bad bhagi॥
lakhi laghu bandhu buddhi sakuchaee. karat badan par bharat badaee॥
bharat kahahin soi kiye bhalaee. as kahi ram rahe aragaee॥"[11]

ye tinon vistar maulik hain aur 'ramacharitamanas' ke poorv kisi ram-katha granth men nahin milate. bharat ke prati ram ke prem ka yah vikas tulasidas ki visheshata hai aur poore 'ramacharitamanas' men unhonne isaka nirvah bhali bhanti kiya hai. bharat nanihal se lautate hain to kaushalya se unase milane ke lie daud padati hain aur unake stanon se doodh ki dhara bahane lagati hai.[12] ram-mata ka yah chitr 'adhyatm ramayan' men bhi nahin hai, yadyapi usamen bharat ke prati kausalya ki vah snkirn-hridayata bhi nahin hai, jo 'valmiki ramayan' men payi jati hai. 'valmiki-ramayan' men to kaushalya bharat se kahati hain, 'yah shatruhin rajy tum ko mila, tumane rajy chaha aur vah tumhen mila. kaikeyi ne bade hi nindit karm ke dvara is rajy ko raja se paya hai.. dhan-dhany se yukt hathi, ghodon aur rathon se poorn yah vishal rajy kaikeyi ne raja se lekar tumako de diya hai." is prakar anek kathor vachanon se kaushalya ne bharat ka tiraskar kiya, jinase ve ghav men suee chhedane ke saman pida se dukhi hue.[13]

ramacharitamanas ki lokapriyata

isi prakar bharat, sita, kaikeyi aur katha ke any pramukh patron men bhi tulasidas ne aise sudhar kiye hain ki ve sarvatha tulasidas ke ho gaye hain. in charitron men manavata ka jo nishkalush kintu vyavaharik roop prastut kiya gaya hai, vah n keval tatkalin sahity men nahin aya, tulasi ke poorv ram-sahity men bhi nahin dikhaee pada. kadachit isalie tulasidas ke 'ramacharitamanas' ne vah lokapriyata prapt ki, jo tab se aj tak kisi any kriti ko nahin prapt ho saki. bhavishy men bhi isaki lokapriyata men adhik antar n ayega, dridhatapoorvak yah kahana to kisi ke lie bhi asambhav hoga kintu jis samay tak manav jati adarshon aur jivan-moolyon men vishvas rakhegi, 'ramacharitamanas' ko sammanapoorvak smaran kiya jata rahega, yah kahane ke lie kadachit kisi bhavishyat-vakta ki avashyakata nahin hai.

ramacharitamanas ki alochana

'ramacharitamanas' ko padhakar samaj ke ve log kya sochate honge jin par isamen jativadi aur varnavadi phikare kase ge hain. shayad yahi karan hai ki baba nagarjun ne 'ramacharitamanas' ko lekar likha tha ki-
