utsav is din pratah kal snan karake devataon ki pooja kar ratri men pushp, alak tatha chandan adi se das asha deviyon ki pooja karani chahie.
dharmik manyata is vrat ko poorn karane se kanya shreshth var prapt karati hai. pati ke yatra-pravas par jane aur jaldi laut kar n ane par stri is vrat ke dvara apane pati ko shighr prapt kar sakati hai. shishu ke dantajanik pida men bhi is vrat ke karane se pida door ho jati hai.

katha

bhagavan shrikrishn kahate hai- "parth![5] ab main apase 'asha dashami' vrat-katha evn usake vidhan ka varnan kar raha hoon. prachin kal men nishadh desh men ek raja rajy karate the. unaka nam nal tha. unake bhaee pushkar ne dyoot[6] men jab unhen parajit kar diya, tab nal apani bharya damayanti ke sath rajy se bahar chale gaye. ve pratidin ek van se doosare van men bhraman karate rahate the. keval jal matr se apana jivan-nirvah karate the aur janashoony bhaynkar vanon men ghoomate rahate the. ek bar raja ne van men svarn-si kanti vale kuchh pakshiyon ko dekha. unhen pakadane ki ichchha se raja ne unake oopar vastr phailaya, parantu ve sabhi vastr ko lekar akash men ud gaye. isase raja bade du:khi ho gaye. ve damayanti ko gahari nidra men dekhakar use usi sthiti men chhodakar chale gaye.[7]

jab damayanti nidra se jagi to usane dekha ki nal vahan nahin hain. nal ko n pakar vah us ghor van men hahakar karate hue rone lagi. mahanh du:kh aur shok se sntript hokar vah nal ke darshanon ki ichchha se idhar-udhar bhatakane lagi. isi prakar kee din bit gaye aur bhatakate hue vah chedi desh men pahunchi. vahan vah unmatt-si rahane lagi. chhote-chhote shishu use kautukavash ghere rahate the. kisi din manushyon se ghiri huee use chedi desh ke raja ki mata ne dekha. us samay damayanti chandrama ki rekha ke saman bhoomi par padi huee thi. usaka mukhamndal prakashit tha. rajamata ne use apane bhavan men bulakar poochha- "tum kaun ho?" is par damayanti ne lajjit hote hue kaha- "main vivahit stri hoon. main n kisi ke charan dhoti hoon aur n kisi ka uchchhisht[8] bhojan karati hoon. yahan rahate hue koee mujhe prapt karega to vah apake dvara dandaniy hoga. devi is pratigya ke sath main yahan rah sakati hoon." rajamata ne kaha- "thik hai aisa hi hoga." tab damayanti ne vahan rahana svikar kiya aur isi prakar kuchh samay vyatit hua aur phir ek brahman damayanti ko usake mata-pita ke ghar le aya, kintu mata-pita tatha bhaiyon ka sneh pane par bhi pati ke bina vah atyant duahkhi rahati thi. ek bar damayanti ne ek shreshth brahman ko bulakar usase poochha- "he brahman devata! ap koee aisa dan evn vrat batayen, jisase mere pati mujhe prapt ho jaye." is par us buddhiman brahman ne kaha- "bhadre! tum manovanchchhit siddhi pradan karane vale asha dashami vrat ko karo." tab damayanti ne puranavetta us dam namak purohit brahman ke dvara aisa kahe jane par 'asha dashami' vrat ka anushthan kiya. us vrat ke prabhav se damayanti ne apane pati ko punah prapt kiya.

labh tatha mahattv

bhagavan shrikrishn ke mukh se is katha ko sunakar dharmaraj yudhishthir ne kaha- "he govind! yah 'asha dashami' vrat kis prakar aur kaise kiya jata hai tatha isake kya labh hain? ap sarvgy hain. ap ise batayen. yudhishthir ki bat sunakar shrikrishn bole- "he rajan! is vrat ke prabhav se rajapootr apana rajy, krishi, kheti, vanik vyapar men labh, putrarthi putr tatha manav dharm, arth evn kam ki siddhi prapt karate hain. kanya shreshth var prapt karati hai. 'asha dashami' vrat se brahman nirvighr ygy sampann kar leta hai. asadhy rogon se pidit rogi rog se mukt ho jata hai aur pati ke yatra-pravas par jane par aur jaldi n ane par stri is vrat ke dvara apane pati ko shighr prapt kar sakati hai. shishu ke dantajanik pida men bhi is vrat se pida door ho jati hai aur kasht nahin hota. isi prakar any karyon ki siddhi ke lie isi 'asha dashami' vrat ko karana chahie. jab bhi jis kisi ko kasht pade, usaki nivritti ke lie is vrat ko poori shraddha aur sachche man se karana chahie.[7]

vrat vidhan

yah 'asha dashami' vrat kisi bhi mas ke shukl paksh ki dashami tithi ko kiya jata hai. is din pratah kal snan karake devataon ki pooja kar ratri men pushp, alak tatha chandan adi se das asha deviyon ki pooja karani chahie. ghar ke angan men jau se athava pishtatak se poorvadi dason dishaon ke adhipatiyon ki pratimaon ko unake vahan tatha astr-shastron se susajjit kar unhen hi aindri adi disha-deviyon ke roop me manakar poojan karana chahie. sab ko ghritapoorn naivedy, prithak-prithakh dipak tatha ritu phal adi samarpit karana chahie. isake anantar apane kary ki siddhi ke lie is prakar prarthana karani chahie-

ashashchashaah sada santu siddhyantan men manorathaah .
bhavatinan prasaden sada kalyanamastviti ..

arthath "he asha deviyon! meri ashaen sada saphal hon, mere manorath poorn hon, ap logon se mera sada kalyan ho."

is prakar vidhivat pooja kar brahman ko dakshina pradan kar prasad grahan karana chahie. isi kram se pratyek mas men is vrat ko karana chahie. jab tak apana manorath poorn n ho jaye. tab tak is vrat ko karana chahie. anantar n ho jay, udyapan karana chahie. udyapan men asha deviyon ki sone, chandi athava pishtataka se pratima banakar ghar ke angan men unaki pooja karake aindri, agreyi, yamya, nairiti, varooni, vayavya, saumya, aindri, adhah tatha brahmi, in das asha deviyon[9] se abhisht kamanaon ki siddhi ke lie prarthana karani chahie, sath hi nakshatron, grahon, tara grahon, nakshatr-matrikaon, bhoot-pret-vinayakon se bhi abhisht siddhi ke liye prarthana karani chahie. pushp, phal, dhoop, gandh, vastr adi se unaki prarthana karani chahie. suhagin striyon ko nrity, git adi ke dvara ratri jagaran karana chahie. pratah kal vidvanh brahman ko sab kuchh poojit nivedit kar dena chahie aur unhen pranam kar kshama yachana karani chahie. anantar bandhu-bandhavon evn mitron ke sath prasann man se bhojan karana chahie.[7] shrikrishn kahate hain- "he parth! jo is 'asha dashami' vrat ko shraddhapoorvak karata hai, usake sabhi manorath poorn ho jate hain. yah vrat striyon ke lie vishesh kar shreyaskar hai.
