karava chauth ka vrat tab bhi prachalit tha aur jaisa ki shastron-puranon men ullekh milata hai ki yah apane jivan sathi ke svasth aur dirghayu hone ki kamana se kiya jata tha. parv ka svaroop thode pherabadal ke sath ab bhi vahi hai. lekin yah pati-patni tak hi simit nahin hain. donon choonki grihasthi roopi gadi ke do pahiye hai. aur nishtha ki dhuri se jude hain. isalie unake snbndhon par zyada dhyan diya jata hai. asal men to yah poore parivar ke hit aur kalyan ke lie hai.

ashubh ka parihary

karava chauth ke din bharat ki har mahila dinabhar upavas ke bad sham ko 18 sal ki ladaki se lekar 75 sal ki mahila nee dulhan ki tarah sajati-snvarati hai. karavachauth ke din ek khoobasoorat rishta sal-dar-sal mazaboot hota hai. kunvari ladakiyan (kuchh snpradayon men sagaee ke bad) shiv ki tarah ke pati ki chahat men, to shadishuda striyan apani pati ke svasthy aur dirghayu ke lie yah vrat karati hain. karava chauth ke din ab patni hi nahin pati bhi vrat karate hain. yah parnpara ka vistar hai. karava chauth ko ab saphal aur khushahal dampaty ki kamana ke lie kiya ja raha hai. karava chauth ab keval lok-parnpara nahin rah gee hai. pauranikata ke sath-sath isamen adhunikata ka pravesh ho chuka hai aur ab yah tyohar bhavanaon par kendrit ho gaya hai. hamare samaj ki yahi khasiyat hai ki ham parnparaon men navinata ka samavesh lagatar karate rahate hain. kabhi karavachauth patni ke, pati ke prati samarpan ka pratik hua karata tha, lekin aj yah pati-patni ke bich ke samnjasy aur rishte ki ooshma se damak aur mahak raha hai. adhunik hote daur men hamane apani parnpara to nahin chhodi hai, ab isamen zyada snvedanashilata, samarpan aur prem ki abhivyakti dikhaee deti hai. donon ke bich ahasas ka ghera mazaboot hota hai, jo rishton ko surakshit karata hai.

vrat sirf pati ke lie ya stri purush ki barabari ka manane ke lie pati dvara patni ke lie bhi karane tak hi simit nahin hai. purush chahen to ve patni ya preyasi ke lie vrat rakhen, lekin yah chalan karava- chauth ki bhavana ko satahi taur par hi chhoota hai. pati dvara vrat karane ko parnpara ke vistar ke roop men dekhana chahie. isake pichhe saphal aur khushahal dampaty ki bhavana bhi hai. chalan aur pakka hota ja raha hai aur karavachauth men pauranikata ke sath-sath isamen adhunikata ka pravesh ho chuka hai. tyohar bahut kuchh bhavanaon par kendrit ho gaya hain. karava chauth ke marm tak nahin pahunch pane ke karan yah patni ke, pati ke prati samarpan ka pratik bhi hua karata hoga lekin ab donon ke bich ke samnjasy aur rishte ki garamahat se bhi damakane laga hai.

karava chauth katha

ek bar arjun nilagiri par tapasya karane ge. draupadi ne socha ki yahan har samay anek prakar ki vighn-badhaen ati rahati hain. unake shaman ke lie arjun to yahan hain nahin, at: koee upay karana chahie. yah sochakar unhonne bhagavan shri krishn ka dhyan kiya. bhagavan vahan upasthit hue to draupadi ne apane kashton ke nivaran hetu koee upay batane ko kaha. is par shrikrishn bole- 'ek bar parvati ji ne bhi shiv ji se yahi prashn kiya tha to unhonne kaha tha ki karavachauth ka vrat grihasthi men ane vali chhoti-moti vighn-badhaon ko door karane vala hai. yah pitt prakop ko bhi door karata hai. phir shrikrishn ne draupadi ko ek katha sunaee-

prachinakal men ek dharmaparayan brahman ke sat putr tatha ek putri thi. badi hone par putri ka vivah kar diya gaya. kartik ki chaturthi ko kanya ne karava chauth ka vrat rakha. sat bhaiyon ki ladali bahan ko chndroday se pahale hi bhookh satane lagi. usaka phool sa chehara murajha gaya. bhaiyon ke lie bahan ki yah vedana asahaniy thi. at: ve kuchh upay sochane lage. unhonne bahan se chndroday se pahale hi bhojan karane ko kaha, par bahan n mani. tab bhaiyon ne snehavash pipal ke vriksh ki ad men prakash karake kaha- dekho ! chndroday ho gaya. utho, ardhy dekar bhojan karo.' bahan uthi aur chndrama ko ardhy dekar bhojan kar liya. bhojan karate hi usaka pati mar gaya. vah rone chillane lagi. daivayog se indrani (shachi) devadasiyon ke sath vahan se ja rahi thin. rone ki avaz sun ve vahan geen aur usase rone ka karan poochha.

brahman kanya ne sab hal kah sunaya. tab indrani ne kaha- 'tumane karava chauth ke vrat men chndroday se poorv hi ann-jal grahan kar liya, isi se tumhare pati ki mrityu huee hai. ab yadi tum mrit pati ki seva karati huee barah mahinon tak pratyek chauth ko yathavidhi vrat karo, phir karava chauth ko vidhivat gauri, shiv, ganesh, kartikey sahit chndrama ka poojan karo tatha chndroday ke bad ardhy dekar ann-jal grahan karo to tumhare pati avashy jivit ho uthenge.' brahman kanya ne agale varsh 12 mah ki chauth sahit vidhipoorvak karava chauth ka vrat kiya. vrat ke prabhav se unaka mrit pati jivit ho gaya. is prakar yah katha kahakar shrikrishn draupadi se bole- 'yadi tum bhi shraddha evn vidhipoorvak is vrat ko karo to tumhare sare du:kh door ho jaenge aur sukh-saubhagy, dhan-dhany men vriddhi hogi.' phir draupadi ne shrikrishn ke kathananusar karava chauth ka vrat rakha. us vrat ke prabhav se mahabharat ke yuddh men kauravon ki har tatha pandavon ki jit huee.

dvitiy katha

prachin samay men karava nam ki ek pativrata stri thi. vah apane pati ke sath nadi kinare ke ek ganv men rahati thi. usaka pati vriddh tha. ek din vah nadi men snan karane gaya. nadi men nahate samay ek magar ne use pakad liya. is par vyakti 'karava karava' chillakar apani patni ko sahayata ke lie pukarane laga. karava pativrata stri thi. avaz ko sunakar karava bhagakar apane pati ke pas pahunchi aur daudakar kachche dhage se magar ko an dekar bandh diya. magar ko soot ke kachche dhage se bandhane ke bad karava yamaraj ke pas pahunchi. ve us samay chitragupt ke khate dekh rahe the. karava ne sat sink le unhen jhadana shuroo kiya, yamaraj ke khate akash men udane lage. yamaraj ghabara ge aur bole- 'devi! too kya chahati hai?' karava ne kaha- 'he prabhu! ek magar ne nadi ke jal men mere pati ka pair pakad liya hai. us magar ko ap apani shakti se apane lok (narak) men le ao aur mere pati ko chirayu karo.'

karava ki bat sunakar yamaraj bole- 'devi! abhi magar ki ayu shesh hai. at: ayu rahate hue main asamay magar ko mar nahin sakata.' is par karava ne kaha- 'yadi magar ko marakar ap mere pati ki raksha nahin karoge, to main shap dekar apako nasht kar doongi.' karava ki dhamaki se yamaraj dar ge. ve karava ke sath vahan ae, jahan magar ne usake pati ko pakad rakha tha. yamaraj ne magar ko marakar yamalok pahuncha diya aur karava ke pati ki pran raksha kar use dirghayu pradan ki. jate samay vah karava ko sukh-samriddhi dete ge tatha yah var bhi diya- 'jo stri is din vrat karegi, unake saubhagy ki main raksha karoonga.' karava ne pativrat ke bal se apane pati ke pranon ki raksha ki thi. is ghatana ke din se karava chauth ka vrat karava ke nam se prachalit ho gaya. jis din karava ne apane pati ke pran bachae the, us din kartik mas ke krishn paksh ki chauth thi. he karava mata! jaise apane (karava) apane pati ki pran raksha ki vaise hi sabake patiyon ke jivan ki raksha karana.
