dharmik manyata is din mitti ke bartan men pani bharakar, oopar se belapatr, ak dhatoore ke pushp, chaval adi dalakar ‘shivaling’ par chadhaya jata hai. agar pas men shivalay n ho, to shuddh gili mitti se hi shivaling banakar use poojane ka vidhan hai.

shivaratri se ashay

shivaratri vah ratri hai jisaka shivatattv se ghanishth snbndh hai. bhagavan shiv ki atipriy ratri ko shiv ratri kaha jata hai. shiv puran ke eeshan snhita men bataya gaya hai ki phalgun krishn chaturdashi ki ratri men adidev bhagavan shiv karodon sooryon ke saman prabhav vale ling roop men prakat hue-

jyotish shastr ke anusar phalgun krishn chaturdashi tithi men chandrama soory ke samip hota hai. at: isi samay jivan roopi chandrama ka shivaroopi soory ke sath yog milan hota hai. at: is chaturdashi ko shivapooja karane se jiv ko abhisht phal ki prapti hoti hai. yahi shivaratri ka mahattv hai. mahashivaratri ka parv paramatma shiv ke divy avataran ka mngal soochak parv hai. unake nirakar se sakar roop men avataran ki ratri hi mahashivaratri kahalati hai. hamen kam, krodh, lobh, moh, matsar adi vikaron se mukt karake paramasukh, shanti evn aishvary pradan karate hain.

mahashivaratri

kisi mas ke krishn paksh ki chaturdashi 'shivaratri' kahi jati hai, kintu magh (phalgun, poornimant) ki chaturdashi sabase mahattvapoorn hai aur mahashivaratri kahalati hai. garudapuran[1], skandapuran[2], padmapuran[3], agnipuran[4] adi puranon men usaka varnan hai. kahin-kahin varnanon men antar hai, kintu pramukh baten ek si hain. sabhi men isaki prashnsa ki gee hai. jab vyakti us din upavas karake bilv pattiyon se shiv ki pooja karata hai aur ratri bhar 'jaran' (jagaran) karata hai to shiv use narak se bachate hain aur anand evn moksh pradan karate hain aur vyakti svayn shiv ho jata hai. dan, ygy, tap, tirth yatraen, vrat isake koti ansh ke barabar bhi nahin hain.

garud puran men katha

garud puran men isaki gatha hai- aboo parvat par nishadon ka raja sundar senak tha, jo ek din apane kutte ke sath shikar khelane gaya. vah koee pashu mar n saka aur bhookh-pyas se vyakul vah gahan van men talab ke kinare ratri bhar jagata raha. ek bilb (bel) ke ped ke niche shivaling tha, apane sharir ko aram dene ke lie usane anajane men shivaling par giri bilv pattiyan niche utar lin. apane pairon ki dhool ko svachchh karane ke lie usane talab se jal lekar chhidaka aur aisa karane se jal ki boonden shivaling par girin, usaka ek tir bhi usake hath se shivaling par gira aur use uthane men use shivaling ke samaksh jhukana pada. is prakar usane anajane men hi shivaling ko nahalaya, chhua aur usaki pooja ki aur ratri bhar jagata raha. doosare din vah apane ghar laut aya aur patni dvara diya gaya bhojan kiya. age chalakar jab vah mara aur yamadooton ne use pakada to shiv ke sevakon ne unase yuddh kiya aur use unase chhin liya. vah paparahit ho gaya aur kutte ke sath shiv ka sevak bana. is prakar usane agyan men hi punyaphal prapt kiya. yadi is prakar koee bhi vyakti gyan men kare to vah akshay punyaphal prapt karata hai.

agni puran, skand puran men katha

  • agni puran[5] men sundarasenak baheliya ka ullekh hua hai.[6]
  • skand puran men jo katha ayi hai, vah lambi hai- chand namak ek dusht kirat tha. vah jal men machhaliyan pakadata tha aur bahut se pashuon aur pakshiyon ko marata tha. usaki patni bhi badi nirmam thi. is prakar bahut se varsh bit ge. ek din vah patr men jal lekar ek bilv ped par chadh gaya aur ek banaile shookar ko marane ki ichchha se ratri bhar jagata raha aur niche bahut si pattiyan phenkata raha. usane patr ke jal se apana mukh dhoya, jisase niche ke shivaling par jal gir pada. is prakar usane sabhi vidhiyon se shiv ki pooja ki, arthath snapan kiya (nahalaya), bel ki pattiyan chadhayin, ratri bhar jagata raha aur us din bhookha hi raha. vah niche utara aur ek talab ke pas jakar machhali pakadane laga. vah us ratri ghar nahin ja saka tha, at: usaki patni bina ann-jal ke padi rahi aur chintagrast ho uthi. prat:kal vah bhojan lekar pahunchi, apane pati ko ek nadi ke tat par dekh, bhojan ko tat par hi rakh kar nadi ko par karane lagi. donon ne snan kiya, kintu isake poorv ki kirat bhojan ke pas pahunche, ek kutte ne bhojan chat kar liya. patni ne kutte ko marana chaha kintu pati ne aisa nahin karane diya, kyonki ab usaka hriday pasij chuka tha. tab tak (amavasya ka) madhyahn ho chuka tha. shiv ke doot pati-patni ko lene a ge, kyonki kirat ne anajane men shiv ki pooja kar li thi aur donon ne chaturdashi par upavas kiya tha. donon shivalok ko ge.
  • padm puran[7] men isi prakar ek nishad ke vishay men ullekh hua hai.

mahashivaratri kaise manayen

  • tithitattv[8] ke anusar isamen upavas pramukhata rakhata hai, usamen shnkar ke kathan ko adhar mana gaya hai- 'main us tithi par n to snan, n vastron, n dhoop, n pooja, n pushpon se utana prasann hota hoon, jitana upavas se.' kintu hemadri, madhav adi ne upavas, pooja evn jagaran tinon ko mahatta di hai[9][10]
  • kalanirnay[11] men shivaratri shabd ke vishay men ek lamba vivechan upasthit kiya gaya hai. kya yah 'roodh' hai (yatha koee vishisht tithi) ya yah 'yaugik' hai[12], ya 'lakshanik'[13] ya 'yogaroodh' hai[14]. nishkarsh yah nikala gaya hai ki yah shabd pnkaj ke sadrish yogaroodh hai jo ki pnk se avashy nikalata hai[15], kintu vah keval pnkaj (kamal) se hi sambandhit hai (yahan roodhi ya parampara) n ki medhak se.
  • shivaratri nity evn kamy donon hai. yah nity isalie hai ki isake vishay men vachan hai ki yadi manushy ise nahin karata to papi hota hai, 'vah vyakti jo tinon lokon ke svami rudr ki pooja bhakti se nahin karata, vah sahastr janmon men bhramit rahata hai.' aise bhi vachan hain ki yah vrat prati varsh kiya jana chahie- 'he mahadevi, purush ya pativrata nari ko prativarsh shivaratri par bhakti ke sath mahadev ki pooja karani chahie.[16] yah vrat kamy bhi hai, kyonki isake karane se phal bhi milate hain.
  • eeshan snhita[17] ke mat se yah vrat sabhi prakar ke manushyon dvara sampadit ho sakata hai- 'sabhi manushyon ko, yahan tak ki chandalon ko bhi shivaratri papamukt karati hai, anand deti hai aur mukti deti hai.' eeshanasnhita men vyavastha hai- 'yadi vishnu ya shiv ya kisi dev ka bhakt shivaratri ka tyag karata hai to vah apani pooja (apane aradhy devi ki pooja) ke phalon ko nasht kar deta hai. jo is vrat ko karata hai use kuchh niyam manane padate hain, yatha ahinsa, saty, akrodh, brahmachary, daya, kshama ka palan karana hota hai, use shant man, krodhahin, tapasvi, matsarahit hona chahie; is vrat ka gyan usi ko diya jana chahie jo gurupadanuragi ho, yadi isake atirikt kisi any ko yah diya jata hai to (gyanadata) narak men padata hai.
  • is vrat ka uchit kal hai ratri, kyonki ratri men bhoot, shaktiyan, shiv[18] ghooma karate hain. at: chaturdashi ko unaki pooja honi chahie[19]
  • skand puran[20] men aya hai ki krishn paksh ki us chaturdashi ko upavas karana chahie, vah tithi sarvottam hai aur shiv se sayujy utpann karati hai.[21] shivaratri ke lie vahi tithi many hai jo us kal se achchhadit rahati hai. usi din vrat karana chahie, jab ki chaturdashi ardharatri ke poorv evn uparant bhi rahe[22]. hemadri men aya hai ki shivaratri nam vali vah chaturdashi jo pradosh kal men rahati hai, vrat ke lie many honi chahie; us tithi par upavas karana chahie, kyonki ratri men jagaran karana hota hai[23]}.
  • vrat ke lie uchit din evn kal ke vishay men paryapt vibhed hain[24]. nirnayamrit[25] ne 'pradosh' shabd par bal diya hai tatha any grnthon men 'nishith' evn ardharatri par bal diya hai.[26] yahan ham nirnayakaron ke shiromani madhav ke nirnay prastut kar rahe hain. yadi chaturdashi pradosh-nishith vyapini ho to vrat usi din karana chahie. yadi vah do dinon vali ho arthath vah trayodashi evn amavasya donon se vyapt ho aur vah donon din nishith kal tak rahane vali ho ya donon dinon tak is prakar n upasthit rahane vali ho to pradosh vyapt vyapak nishchay karane vali hoti hai; jab chaturdashi donon dinon tak pradoshavyapini ho ya donon dinon tak usase nirmukt ho to nishith men rahane vali hi niyamak hoti hai; kintu yadi vah do dinon tak rahakar keval kisi se pratyek din (pradosh ya nishith) vyapt ho to jaya se snyukt arthath trayodashi tithi niyamak hoti hai.[27]
  • prachin kalon men shivaratri ke sampadan ka vivaran garud puran [28] men milata hai- trayodashi ko shiv samman karake vrati ko kuchh pratibandh manane chahie. use ghoshit karana chahie- 'he dev, main chaturdashi ki ratri men jagaran karoonga. main yathashakti dan, tap evn hom karoonga. he shambhu, main chaturdashi ko bhojan nahin karoonga, keval doosare din khaoonga. he shambhu, anand evn moksh ki prapti ke lie ap mere ashray banen.' vrati ko vrat karake guru ke pas pahunchana chahie aur pnchamrit ke sath pnchagavy se ling ko snan karana chahie. use is mntr ka path karana chahie- 'om nam: shivay'. chandan lep se arambh kar sabhi upacharon ke sath shiv pooja karani chahie aur agni men til, chaval evn ghritayukt bhat dalana chahie. is hom ke uparant poornahuti[29] karani chahie aur (shiv vishayak) sundar kathaen evn gan sunane chahie. vrati ko pun: ardharatri, ratri ke tisare pahar evn chauthe pahar men ahutiyan dalani chahie. sooryoday ke lagabhag use 'om nam: shivay' ka maun path karate hue shiv prarthana karani chahie- 'he dev, apake anugrah se mainne nirvighn pooja ki hai, he lokeshvar, he shiv, mujhe kshama karen. is din jo bhi puny mainne prapt kiya aur mere dvara shiv ko jo kuchh bhi pradatt hua hai, aj mainne apaki kripa se hi yah vrat poorn kiya hai; he dayashil, mujh par prasann hon, aur apane nivas ko jaen; isamen koee sndeh nahin ki keval apake darshan matr se main pavitr ho chuka hoon.' vrati ko chahie ki vah shiv bhakton ko bhojan de, unhen vastr, chhatr adi de- 'he devadhidev, sarvapadarthadhipati, ap logon par anugrah karate hain, mainne jo kuchh shraddha se diya hai usase ap prasann hon.' is prakar kshama mang lene par vrati ko snkalp karake 12 mason ki chaturdashi ko jagaran karana chahie. vyakti yah vrat karake 12 brahmanon ko khilakar tatha dipadan karake svarg prapt kar sakata hai.
  • tithitattv men kuchh manornjak vistar paya jata hai[30]. ling snan ratri ke pratham prahar men doodh se, doosare men dahi se, tisare men ghrit se, chauthe men madhu se karana chahie. charon praharon ke mntr ye hain- 'hrin eeshanay nam:', hrin adhoray nam:', 'hrin vamadevay nam:' evn 'hrin sadyojatay nam:'. charon praharon men ardhy ke samay ke mntr bhi vibhinn hain. aisa bhi pratipadit hai ki pratham prahar men gan evn nrity hona chahie.
  • varshakriyakaumudi[31] men aya hai ki doosare, tisare evn chauthe prahar men vrati ko pooja, ardhy, jap evn (shiv snbndhi) katha shravan karana chahie, stotrapath karana chahie evn letakar pranam karana chahie; prat:kal vrati ko ardhyajal ke sath kshama mangani chahie. yadi magh krishn chaturdashi ravivar ya mngalavar ko pade to vah vrat ke lie uttam hoti hai[32]
  • 24, 14 ya 12 varshon tak shivaratri vrat karane vale ko avadhi ke uparant udyapan karana padata hai. is vishay men purusharthachintamani [33] evn vrataraj [34] adi grnthon men ati vistar ke sath varnan hai.
  • kisi bhi shivaratri ke paran ke vishay men jitane vachan hain, ve vivad grast hain.[35] 'skand' ke do vachan ye hain- 'jab krishnashtami, skandashashthi evn shivaratri poorv evn pashchath ki tithiyon se snyukt ki jati hai to poorv vali tithi pratipadit krity ke lie many hoti hai aur paran pratipadit tithi ke ant men kiya jana chahie; chaturdashi ko upavas karake aur usi tithi ko vahi vyakti kar sakata hai, jisane lakhon achchhe karm kiye hon.' dharmasindhu[36] ka nishkarsh is prakar hain-

'yadi chaturdashi ratri ke tin praharon ke poorv hi samapt ho jaye to paran tithi ke ant men hona chahie; yadi vah tin praharon se age chali jaye to usake bich men hi sooryaday ke samay paran karana chahie, aisa madhav adi ka mat hai.' nirnayasindhu ka mat yah hai ki yadi chaturdashi tithi ratri ke tin praharon ke poorv samapt ho jaye to paran chaturdashi ke bich men hi hona chahie n ki usake ant men.

  • ajakal dharmasindhu men ullikhit vidhi ka palan kadachit hi koee karata ho. upavas kiya jata hai, shiv ki pooja hoti hai aur log shiv ki kathaen sunate hain. samany jan (kahin-kahin) tamraphal (badam), kamal pushp dal, aphim ke bij, dhatoore adi se yukt ya keval bhang ka sevan karate hain. bahut se shiv mandiron men moorti par lagatar jaladhara se abhishek kiya jata hai.
  • aitarey brahman[37] men prajapati ke us pap ka ullekh hai, jo unhonne apani putri ke sath kiya tha. ve mrig ban gaye. devon ne apane bhaynkar roopon se rudr ka nirman kiya aur unase mrig ko phad dalane ko kaha. jab rudr ne mrig ko viddh kar diya to vah (mrig) akash men chala gaya. log ise mrig (mrigashirsh) kahate hain. rudr mrigavyadh ho gaye aur (prajapati ki) kanya rohini ban gayi aur tir[38] tin dhara vale taron ke saman ban gaya.
  • ling puran[39] men ek nishad ki katha hai. nishad ne ek mrig, usaki patni aur unake bachchon ko marane ke kram men shivaratri vrat ke sabhi krity agyat roop se kar dale. vah evn mrig ke kutumb ke log ant men vyaghr ke tare ke sath mrigashira nakshatr ban gaye.
  • shivaratri vrat ka lamba ullekh madhyakalik nibandhon men hua hai, yatha hemadri[40] adi.[41]

shiv bhakton ka mahaparv

mahashivaratri ka parv shivabhakton dvara atynt shraddha v bhakti se manaya jata hai. yah tyohar har varsh phalgun mas ke krishn paksh ki chaudahavin tithi ko manaya jata hai. angrezi kalendar ke anusar yah din faravari ya march men ata hai. shivaratri shiv bhakton ke lie bahut shubh hai. bhaktagan vishesh pooja ayojit karate hain, vishesh dhyan v niyamon ka palan karate hain. is vishesh din mndir shiv bhakton se bhare rahate hain, ve shiv ke charanon men pranam karane ko atur rahate hain. mandiron ki sajavat dekhate hi banati hai. hazaron bhakt is din kavad men gnga jal lakar bhagavan shiv ko snan karate hain.

mahadev shiv ke poojan ka mahaparv

bharatiy trimoorti ke anusar bhagavan shiv pralay ke pratik hain. trirmooti ke do aur bhagavan hain, vishnu tatha brahma. shiv ka chitrankan ek kruddh bhav dvara kiya jata hai. aisa pratikatmak vyakti bhav, jisake mastak par tisari ankh hai; jo jaise hi khulati hai, agni ka pravah bahana prarambh ho jata hai. puranon ke anusar jab kamadev ne shiv ke dhyan ko todane ki cheshta ki thi, to shiv ka tisara netr kholane se kamadev jalakar rakh ho gaya tha.

pauranik kathaen

mahashivaratri ke mahattv se snbndhit tin kathaen is parv se judi hain:-

pratham katha

ek bar man parvati ne shiv se poochha ki kaun-sa vrat unako sarvottam bhakti v puny pradan kar sakata hai? tab shiv ne svayn is shubh din ke vishay men bataya tha ki phalgun krishn paksh ke chaturdashi ki ratri ko jo upavas karata hai, vah mujhe prasann kar leta hai. main abhishek, vastr, dhoop, ardhy tatha pushp adi samarpan se utana prasann nahin hota, jitana ki vrat-upavas se.

dvitiy katha

isi din, bhagavan vishnu v brahma ke samaksh sabase pahale shiv ka atynt prakashavan akar prakat hua tha. eeshan snhita ke anusar– brahma v vishnu ko apane achchhe karmon ka abhiman ho gaya. isase donon men sngharsh chhid gaya. apana mahatmy v shreshthata siddh karane ke lie donon amada ho uthe. tab shiv ne hastakshep karane ka nishchay kiya, choonki ve in donon devataon ko yah abhas v vishvas dilana chahate the ki jivan bhautik akar-prakar se kahin adhik hai. shiv ek agni stambh ke roop men prakat hue. is stambh ka adi ya ant dikhaee nahin de raha tha. vishnu aur brahma ne is stambh ke or-chhor ko janane ka nishchay kiya. vishnu niche patal ki or ise janane ge aur brahma apane hns vahan par baith oopar ge. varshon yatra ke bad bhi ve isaka arnbh ya ant n jan sake. ve vapas ae, ab tak unaka krodh bhi shant ho chuka tha tatha unhen bhautik akar ki simaon ka gyan mil gaya tha. jab unhonne apane ahamh ko samarpit kar diya, tab shiv prakat hue tatha sabhi vishay vastuon ko punarsthapit kiya. shiv ka yah prakaty phalgun krishn chaturdashi ki ratri ko hi hua tha. isalie is ratri ko mahashivaratri kahate hain.

tritiy katha

isi din bhagavan shiv aur adi shakti ka vivah hua tha. bhagavan shiv ka tandav aur bhagavati ka lasyanrity donon ke samanvay se hi srishti men sntulan bana hua hai, anyatha tandav nrity se srishti khand-khand ho jaye. isalie yah mahattvapoorn din hai.

mahan anushthanon ka din

shiv ki jivan shaili ke anuroop, yah din snyam se manaya jata hai. gharon men yah tyohar sntulit v maryadit roop men manaya jata hai. pndit v purohit shivamndir men ekatrit ho bade-bade anushthanon men bhag lete hain. kuchh mukhy anushthan hai- rudrabhishek, rudr mahaygy, rudr ashtadhyayi ka path, havan, poojan tatha bahut prakar ki arpan-archana karana. inhen phoolon v shiv ke ek hazar namon ke uchcharan ke sath kiya jata hai. is dharmik krity ko laksharchana ya koti archana kaha gaya hai. in archanaon ko unaki ginati ke anusar kiya jata hai. jaise –

  1. laksh: lakh bar.
  2. koti: ek karod bar.

ye poojaen der dopahar tak tatha pun: ratri tak chalati hain. is din upavas kiye jate hain, jab unaki nitant avashyakata ho.

shivaratri manane ki vidhi

  • ratri men upavas karen. din men keval phal aur doodh piyen.
  • bhagavan shiv ki vistrit pooja karen, rudrabhishek karen tatha shiv ke mantr

dev-dev mahadev nilaknth namovastu te.
kartumichchhamyahn dev shivaratrivratn tab॥
tab prasadadh devesh nirvighn bhavediti.
kamadya: shatravo man vai pidankurvantu naiv hi॥

ka yatha shakti path karen aur shiv mahima se yukt bhajan gayen.

  • ‘oon nam: shivay’ mantr ka uchcharan jitani bar ho sake, karen tatha matr shivamoorti aur bhagavan shiv ki lilaon ka chintan karen.
  • ratri men charon paharon ki pooja men abhishek jal men pahale pahar men doodh, doosare men dahi, tisare men ghi aur chauthe men shahad ko mukhyat: shamil karana chahie.

shivaratri ya shivachaudas nam kyon?

phalgun krishn chaturdashi ki mahadasha yani adhi rat ke vaqt bhagavan shiv ling roop men prakat hue the, aisa eeshan snhita men kaha gaya hai. isilie samany janon ke dvara poojaniy roop men bhagavan shiv ke prakaty samay yani adhi rat men jab chaudas ho usi din yah vrat kiya jata hai.

bel (bilv) patr ka mahattv

bel (bilv) ke patte shiv ko atynt priy hain. shiv puran men ek shikari ki katha hai. ek bar use jngal men der ho gayi, tab usane ek bel vriksh par rat bitane ka nishchay kiya. jage rahane ke lie usane ek tarakib sochi- vah sari rat ek-ek kar patta todakar niche phenkata jaega. kathanusar, belavriksh ke thik niche ek shivaling tha. shivaling par priy patton ka arpan hote dekh, shiv prasann ho uthe. jabaki shikari ko apane shubh krity ka abhas hi nahin tha. shiv ne use usaki ichchhapoorti ka ashirvad diya. yah katha n keval yah batati hai ki shiv ko kitani asani se prasann kiya ja sakata hai, balki yah bhi ki is din shiv poojan men bel patr ka kitana mahattv hai.

shivaling kya hai?
