'lekin us ulatapher se ek sau adamiyon ki jivika bani rahe, to is dasha men bhi vah jal hai ? kampani ki asali halat kuchh aur hai, kagaji halat kuchh aur; agar yah tabdili n ki gayi, to turant kee hazar rupaye naphe ke dene pad jaynge aur natija yah hoga ki kampani ka divala ho jayaga aur sare adamiyon ko ghar baithana padega. main nahin chahata ki thode se maladar hissedaron ke lie itane garibon ka khoon kiya jay. paropakar ke lie kuchh jal bhi karana pade, to vah atma ki hatya nahin hai.' dinanath ko koee javab n soojha. agar sethaji ka kahana sach hai aur is jal se sau adamiyon ki roji bani rahe to vastav men vah jal nahin, kathor kartavy hai; agar atma ki hatya hoti bhi ho, to sau adamiyon ki raksha ke lie usaki paravah n karani chahie, lekin naitik samadhan ho jane par apani raksha ka vichar aya. bola- lekin kahin muamala khul gaya to main mit jaoonga. chaudah sal ke lie kale pani bhej diya jaoonga. seth ne zor se kahakaha mara- agar muamala khul gaya, to tum n phnsoge, main phnsoonga. tum saf inakar kar sakate ho. 'likhavat to pakadi jayagi ?' 'eeshvar itana nirdayi kyon hai ?' 'eeshvar nirdayi hai papiyon ke lie. hamane kisaka kya har liya hai ?' 'eeshvar papiyon ko kabhi kshama nahin karata ?' 'papiyon ko dand n mile, to snsar men anarth ho jay.' 'lekin adami aise kam bhi to karata hai, jo ek drishti se pap ho sakate hain, doosari drishti se puny.' 'main nahin samajhi.' 'man lo, mere jhooth bolane se kisi ki jan bachati ho, to kya vah pap hai ?' 'main to samajhati hoon, aisa jhooth puny hai.' 'to jis pap se manushy ka kalyan ho, vah puny hai ?' 'aur kya.' dinanath ki amngal shnka thodi der ke lie door ho gayi. daktar ko bula laya, ilaj shuroo kiya, balak ek saptah men chnga ho gaya. magar thode din bad vah khud bimar pada. vah avashy hi eeshvariy dand hai aur vah bach nahin sakata. sadharan maleriya jvar tha; par dinanath ki dand-kalpana ne use sannipat ka roop de diya. jvar men, nashe ki halat ki tarah yon bhi kalpanashakti tivr ho jati hai. pahale keval manogat shnka thi, vah bhishan saty ban gayi. kalpana ne yamadoot rach dale, unake bhale aur gadaen rach dalin, narak ka agnikund dahaka diya. daktar ki ek ghoont dava ek hazar man ki gada ki avaz aur ag ke ubalate hue samudr ke dahapar kya asar karati ? dinanath mithyavadi n tha. puranon ki rahasyamay kalpanaon men use vishvas n tha. nahin, vah buddhivadi tha aur eeshvar men bhi tabhi use vishvas aya, jab usaki tarkabuddhi kayal ho gayi. lekin eeshvar ke sath usaki daya bhi ayi, usaka dand bhi aya. daya ne use roji di, man diya. eeshvar ki daya n hoti, to shayad vah bhookhon mar jata, lekin bhookhon marana agnikund men dhakel diye jane se kahin saral tha, khel tha. dand-bhavana janm-janmantaron ke snskar se aisi baddhamool ho gayi thi, mano usaki buddhi ka, usaki atma ka, ek ang ho gayi ho. usaka tarkavad aur buddhivad in manvantaron ke jame hue snskar par samudr ki oonchi laharon ki bhanti ata tha; par ek kshan men unhen jal-magn karake phir laut jata tha aur vah parvat jyon-ka-tyon achal khada rah jata tha. zindagi baki thi, bach gaya. takat ate hi daftar jane laga. ek din gauri boli, 'zin dinon tum bimar the aur ek din tumhari halat bahut najuk ho gayi thi, to mainne bhagavanh se kaha, tha ki yah achchhe ho jaynge, to pachas brahmanon ko bhojan karaoongi. doosare hi din se tumhari halat sudharane lagi. eeshvar ne meri vinati sun li. usaki daya n ho jati, to mujhe kahin mange bhikh n milati. aj bazar se saman le ao, to manauti poori kar doon. pachas brahman nevate jaynge, to sau avashy ayenge. pachas kagale bhi samajh lo aur mitron men bis-pachis nikal hi ayenge. do sau adamiyon ka daul hai. main samagriyon ki soochi likh deti hoon.'  dinanath ne matha sikodakar kaha- tum samajhati ho, main bhagavanh ki daya se achchha hua ? 'aur kaise achchhe hue ?' 'achchha hua isalie ki zindagi baki thi.' 'aisi baten n karo. manauti poori karani hogi.' 'kabhi nahin. main bhagavanh ko dayalu nahin samajhata.' 'aur kya bhagavanh nirdayi hai ?' 'unase bada nirdayi koee snsar men n hoga. jo apane rache hue khilaunon ko unaki bhoolon aur bevakoophiyon ki saza agnikund men dhakelakar de, vah bhagavanh dayalu nahin ho sakata. bhagavanh jitana dayalu hai, usase asnkhy guna nirdayi hai. aur aise bhagavanh ki kalpana se mujhe ghrina hoti hai. prem sabase badi shakti kahi gayi hai. vicharavanon ne prem ko hi jivan ki aur snsar ki sabase badi vibhooti mani hai. vyavahar men n sahi, adarsh men prem hi hamare jivan ka saty hai, magar tumhara eeshvar dand-bhay se srishti ka snchalan karata hai. phir usamen aur manushy men kya farq hua ? aise eeshvar ki upasana main nahin karana chahata, nahin kar sakata. jo mote hain, unake lie eeshvar dayalu hoga, kyonki ve duniya ko lootate hain. ham jaison ko to eeshvar ki daya kahin najar nahin ati. han, bhay pag-pag par khada ghoora karata hai. yah mat karo, nahin to eeshvar dand dega ! vah mat karo, nahin to eeshvar dand dega. prem se shasan karana manavata hai, atnk se shasan karana barbarata hai. atnkavadi eeshvar se to eeshvar ka n rahana hi achchha hai. use hriday se nikalakar main usaki daya aur dand donon se mukt ho jana chahata hoon. ek kathor dand barason ke prem ko mitti men mila deta hai. main tumhare oopar barabar jan deta rahata hoon; lekin kisi din danda lekar pit chaloon, to tum meri soorat n dekhogi. aise atnkamay, dandamay jivan ke lie main eeshvar ka ehasan nahin lena chahata. basi bhat men khuda ke sajhe ki zaroorat nahin. agar tumane oj-bhoj par zor diya, to main zahar kha loonga.' gauri usake munh ki or bhayatur netron se takati rah gayi.
