‘vishvas manie, bada podha adami hai aur bala ka makkhichoos.’

‘yadi aisa hi ho, to bhi koee aparadh nahin hai.’

‘aji, abhi ap in baton ko nahin janate. kuchh din aur rahie to apako svayn maloom ho jaega ki yah kitana kamina adami hai?’

kee din pichhe mainne garib se poochha—kyon ji, tumhare ghar par kuchh kheti-bari hoti hai ?

garib ne din bhav se kaha—han, sarakar, hoti hai. apake do gulam hain, vahi karate hain ?

‘gayen-bhainsen bhi lagati hain?’

‘han, huzoor; do bhainsen lagati hain, muda gayen abhi gabhin nahin hai. huzoor, logon ke hi daya- dharam se pet ki rotiyan chal jati hain.’

‘daftar ke baboo logon ki bhi kabhi kuchh khatir karate ho?’

garib ne atyant dinata se kaha—huzoor; main sarakar logon ki kya khatir kar sakata hoon. kheti men jau, chana, makka, juvar ke sivay aur kya hota hai. ap log raja hain, yah moti- jhoti chizen kis munh se apaki bhent karoon. ji darata hai, kahin koee dant n baithe ki is take ke adami ki itani majal. isi ke mare babooji, hiyav nahin padata. nahin to doodh-dahi ki kaun bisat thi. munh layaq bida to hona chahie.
